Regarding the Ray Edwards talk, how exactly are the Browns planning to spend the cap money? I know extensions to Hillis and Thomas are in order but that still leaves a decent amount of money.

Maybe my expectations were a tad to high going into FA.

Might as well start it off here as many people are going to be angry.

Mary Kay Cabot was saying last night that we wouldn't be signing Edwards so I am not surprised by this. If anything I am happy as I thought Edwards was going to get overpaid.

Guess I'm the only one who's confident in Marcus Benard at DE.

J/C,
I would like to see us bring in Vernon Gholston. He would not cost too much I don't think. He might find a home at DE in a 43 defense.

I'm not confident in him but I am intrigued by what he will do in the 4-3. I think he will at least be an above-average situational pass rusher.

So you would rather they overpay him to get Edwards here? There were plenty of reports of us trying, but the Falcons are more attractive in terms of winning,a nd they can overpay in hopes of a championship next year.

And Kenyon Coleman isn't a 4-3 end. Guy is 300lbs.

People need to be realistic for once. Edwards would have been great, but not if he costs a stupid amount of money.

I think he can at least be a decent player. But the more competition, the better. I want us to sign a DE, but it has to be a reasonable rate.

Daman, you asked me before if I had any interest in Clements. Not really he is already 30 and will probably command too much money. If we are in a position to make some sort of run now I might reconsider. I would love to be able to make Brown are 3rd best corner but I am more concerned about improving the back end. I don't want to see Adams playing CB.

Yeah, when you consider what some 1st round draft picks sign for last year.

I really thought he would be asking 10 (40) million more overall.

Maybe he just wanted to play for a contender.

He probably wanted to play for a team that offered him a contract, which reportedly was not Cleveland.

There is an article on here that verifies that edwards agent says the Browns never even contacted them about Edwards.. wouldn't return calls or emails either.

So, it was all a rumor... apparently we weren't interested..

I can't be sure I have this right, but what I think Adam is saying is that the Browns didn't offer him a contract or so his agent says..
