Yep, it's that crow-eating that would keep him from coming here. Too bad. Like Rish said, he'd instantly improve the offense. And if he had a sense of humor about himself there's a lot he could do with the way he left. Hold an "I hate Michigan" Day and donate the money to charity. Maybe a "Cleveland doesn't suck but I did my last year here - Sorry" Day. The possibilities are vrtually endless.....

Could. But there's also the chance that he doesn't want a short deal - he wants long term. Why? Because if he signs a short term deal and stinks, he'll probably be done. I personally don't see edwards as a "I'm gonna take a chance and show you" guy, hoping for a long term high dollar contract a year later. I see him as a "don't you see my potential? Sign me long term" kind of guy.
He's scared of himself. As much as he wants the acclaim, and money, of being top notch, I believe he's afraid to be the "go to" guy.
Maybe I'm wrong.

That contender has to show interest in him though. If he doesn't get the deal he's after before too long, he's going to have to take what he can get, where he can get it, even if that place happened to be Cleveland. Like most, I don't think it will happen, but I certainly wouldn't be upset as most would, it seems. All I care about is if he can help our team win more games. I don't care what he says or does extracurricularly unless it could lead to him being suspended by the league, because suspended players don't help us at all.

Question for any of you all who remember Braylon against the Steelers? Did he do anything? Did he contribute?
I specifically remember a late TD drive where he didn't even TRY to work for the ball..
Can't believe yall want that clown back here. He's garbage. Reason why he is not on a team now. How do the Jets sign a guy who hasn't played football in 2 years over a guy who they've had on their team for one season and is younger? Rex doesn't believe in him..

Plax got a one-year, ~$3 million deal. Braylon is likely looking for a four to five year deal at $4-5 million a year. It's been common knowledge to anyone that pays attention for the last year that Braylon and Santonio were both going to be free agents this year and that the Jets wouldn't be able to re-sign both. They chose Santonio, and gave him a $50 million deal. Regardless of whether they wanted to keep Braylon as well, they couldn't.

Braylon just wasn't the same IMO after his 2007 season.. before then.. man.. I loved him.. after that season.. I could tell he got tired of losing. His effort just wasn't the same.

Braylon's a bona fide head case now. Regardless of where he ends up, he'll always be a butter-fingered drama queen.
Picking Plax over him is a no-brainer. AND Plax has had all kinds of practice NOT dropping the soap in jail . . .

Good pick up by the Cards especially if they bring in Edwards as well... they might actually have a decent offense if Kolb can be the QB that they hope he can.

Braylon's problems are between his ears and his off the field life style leaves a lot to be desired.
I can't help but notice there was a pattern to his off the field events...most in the early hours of the morning and partying. Braylon would not be the first NFL player with a boatload of talent who blew his chance to make it big in the NFL.
I do not know if Braylon is an alcoholic in denial, but he is the NFL's substance abuse program. I'm not sure if he will face disciplinary action from the NFL, due to his NY drunk driving case which violated the terms of his probation, here in Ohio.
Anyone thinking he would be a good fit back here in Cleveland, might be forgetting his off the field issues...no way do I want to see Braylon in a Browns uniform.

He could start by Week 4. Clausen could suck and Newton has proved nothing so DA could weasle his way into another starting gig, until he implodes again.

It's not a farfetched as some people think it is. If Carolina decides to sit Newton, DA could start Week 1 because Clausen sucks and Chud is their OC (so DA knows more of the offense already).

The Panthers have Steve Smith and Jeremy Shockey as quality targets for a QB, (and Smith loves going deep, which is one of DA's strengths) and they have a strong stable of running backs.
DA could do fairly well there if their OL is decent.
Edit to add: Before anyone goes nuts, I'm not saying that he'll be a Pro Bowler there ..... but a 20 TD/15 INT season wouldn't be completely out of the question if he started the entire year.

But alot of people lost faith in him after the Cincy game, ya know... costing us the playoffs and all...
I lost ALL faith in him that years Pro Bowl...
Coached by Norv Turner, using San Diego's playbook, the same basic playbook that Chud used... He proformed by far the WORST of the 3 AFC QBs... (mind you one was Manning..)

This is pretty hilarious Deuce Lutui fails Bengals physical Free agent right guard Deuce Lutui is on his way back to the Arizona Cardinals after flunking his physical with the Cincinnati Bengals for being overweight. Tim Hightower is out, Deuce Lutui is back in. ESPN.com's Mike Sando highlights the comings and goings in Arizona. The 28-year old Lutui originally agreed to a two-year contract with the Bengals on Friday but signed a one-year deal with Arizona on Sunday after failing the physical. Lutui, listed at 6-foot-4 and 338 pounds, was a second-round pick of Arizona in 2006 out of USC. According to The Arizona Republic, Lutui still has to pass a physical with the Cardinals before his latest deal becomes official. Arizona has already signed free agent guard Floyd Womack, an 11-year NFL veteran who played in 16 games for Cleveland last season. Womack is the second new guard on the line. Daryn Colledge, a starter on the Green Bay Packers' Super Bowl championship team, signed a free-agent deal with Arizona, taking the spot left open by the retirement of Alan Faneca. The team kept some continuity on the interior line by re-signing center Lyle Sendlein. Tim Hightower is a kid, depending on how many RB we take into the season, who could be interesting.
He's a nice runner, and an excellent pass receiver. He had 34 receptions in 2008, and 63 receptions in 2009, but fell off to only 21 last year with DA at the helm. He averaged 4.8 yards/carry and gained 736 yards on the ground.
He's a 6' 220# RB, so he has good size. I would definitely look at bringing him in if I were in charge.

Here's the story about the Cromartie signing... Cromartie back to Jets, fills Major Need Rebounding from the Nnamdi Asomugha snub, the New York Jets moved to fill their vacant cornerback spot, coming to a contract agreement early Monday morning with Antonio Cromartie, according to a league source.
He will sign a four-year, $32 million contract, according to a league source -- $4 million per year less than Asomugha's deal with the Philadelphia Eagles and $1.75 million per year less than Johnathan Joseph's contract with the Houston Texans.

The Jets appeared to be in a bind after losing out on Asomugha, who shocked many (including the Jets) by signing Thursday with the Eagles. If they had failed to re-sign Cromartie, it would've created a major issue in the defense.
The Jets will go into the 2011 season with the same tandem as last year, Cromartie and All-Pro Darrelle Revis.
Though Cromartie drew strong interest from the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers, teams that would've made him the No. 1 corner, the six-year vet elected to stay in New York and took to Twitter early Monday morning.
"They say Cro is back, Cro is back all #GangGreen fans say is Cro...," Cromartie tweeted. "I'm on my FLT headed home glad 2 b a JET...let's go win a Superbowl."
The Jets have re-signed two of their Big Four free agents, Cromartie and wide receiver Santonio Holmes. They lost the versatile Brad Smith to the Buffalo Bills, and receiver Braylon Edwards is unlikely to return now that wide receiver Plaxico Burress has agreed to a one-year deal with the team.
After missing out on Asomugha, retaining Cromartie became the Jets' best option to place on the other side of Revis. The Jets did not seem to think former No. 1 pick Kyle Wilson, coming off a shaky rookie year, was ready for a starting role.
Cromartie played well in 2010, especially over the first half of the season, but his inconsistency chafed the coaching staff at times.
He finished with three interceptions and recorded a team-high 18 pass break-ups, but he also committed the most penalties on defense and surrendered a team-high seven touchdown passes.
The Jets acquired Cromartie, 27, last year in a trade with the San Diego Chargers. The price was steep -- a second-round pick -- and it would've been embarrassing if they had lost him after only one year.
He was considered one of the rising talents in the league in 2007, when he was an All-Pro in his second season after getting an NFL-leading 10 interceptions, but struggled on and off the field. Cromartie's tackling was an issue in San Diego, but he vowed to get better when he came to New York, and clearly improved in that area although he led the defense in penalties.
Cromartie was also dealing with paternity issues at the time of the deal, with seven children by several women, but the Jets advanced him $500,000 to help clear that up. He has since married reality TV star and model Terricka Cason, and often tweets about the joys of family life and his faith.
The Jets reported for training camp at their facility in Florham Park, N.J., on Sunday, with their first practice scheduled for Monday afternoon.

Mostly I posted this for the blurb about Kyle Wilson not looking good. Remember when some said Wilson was better than Haden? Wonder how those people feel about it now. Joe is a stud, and is easily the best decision made by the new regime to this point. I'm not calling the Quinn trade this regime since everyone has attributed Hillis' inclusion to Mangini.

Veteran LB Lofa Tatupu will be released by the Seahawks, according to a league source.
As we first reported on air Saturday, Tatupu met with team officials to discuss reworking the seven-year, $42.52 million contract that he signed in 2008, but he wasn’t compelled to agree to any changes, leading to his eventual release. That decision was made Sunday in what team sources are calling “a mutual parting.”
Tatupu, who made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons, has been slowed by injuries in recent years. However, the seventh-year veteran is a fan favorite in Seattle.

yes, yes I remember a few articles intimating that there were knock-down drag-out fights in our war-room between the two. though I don't see how as Haden was amazing in college while Wilson was a gambler (big play either way)
