How are we on part 4 when we've only signed like 3 people?
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Maybe he got confused about when he had to report? Who knows? Stranger things have happened.
LOL I tried to respond on the other thread, just as I hit the continue button, it must have gotten locked...
Ytown,, thanks, I knew there was a group of players that couldn't report until the 4th,, I just didn't know if he was in that group or not
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Seven first-rounders still unsigned Posted by Mike Florio on August 1, 2011, 9:40 AM EDT 2011 NFL Draft Getty Images With Texans defensive end J.J. Watt (No. 11 overall) and Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder (No. 12) agreeing to terms on Sunday, seven first-round picks are still unsigned. Strangely, they all land from picks No. 17 through 24. They are Patriots tackle Nate Solder (No. 17), Chargers defensive tackle Corey Liuget (No. 18), Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara (No. 19; pictured), Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor (No. 21), Colts tackle Anthony Castonzo (No. 22), Eagles guard Danny Watkins (No. 23), and Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan (No. 24). The only player signed in that eight-man stretch is the first first-rounder to sign: Bucs defensive end Adrian Clayborn, the 20th overall pick. Clayborn’s deal, negotiated by up-and-comer Blake Baratz, overshot the pick-by-pick formula not only for the 20th slot, but also for the 19th slot, occupied by Amukamara. That wrinkle could be keeping Amukamara’s deal from getting done. The bigger issue is the extent to which the teams are willing to fully guarantee the four-year deals. Clayborn’s at No. 20 is fully guaranteed. The contract signed by Seahawks offensive lineman James Carpenter at No. 25 is guaranteed only for the first three years. For picks No. 21 through No. 24, the fight centers on whether three or four years will be guaranteed. The Colts are drawing a line in the sand at No. 22 with Castonzo. “Agents are asking for a four-year guarantee, which we will not do,” Colts vice chairman Bill Polian said, via News-Sentinel.com. “As I mentioned, we are old school and if we won’t give Joseph Addai, who helped us to two Super Bowls and helped us win two AFC championships, a fully guaranteed contract, we aren’t going to do it for a rookie, any rookie. We love Anthony. We think he’s a great draft choice and we think he would be a great Colt, but it’s time for him to prove that before he gets a fully guaranteed contract.” Ditto for the Eagles at No. 23; per Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com, the Eagles only want to guarantee the first three years of the contract. The solution could be for the teams and the agents to agree to guarantee three years — the last three years. As a practical matter, this guarantees the entire deal, allowing the teams to say that they didn’t guarantee the entire four years. Either way, look for these deals to get done soon. link

That is correct.
The bad part is that I thought that the NFL office had to approve contracts. If so, then both missed the mistake. If not, then the team should have to face a penalty for not complying with the rules ..... a penalty like losing a draft pick.

J/C. Here's the sticking point of the Phil Taylor signing: web page A lot of Cleveland Browns fans are asking me what's the holdup with Browns rookie defensive tackle Phil Taylor? The first-round pick is the only AFC North rookie who remains unsigned and isn't in training camp. From what I'm hearing behind the scenes, the biggest issue is the fourth-year guarantee. Signed picks from No. 1-20 received guaranteed money in the first four years of their contracts. But Taylor is the No. 21 overall pick, and I'm told the Browns right now are only offering the first three years guaranteed. The interesting part is pick No. 25 -- James Carpenter of the Seattle Seahawks -- did accept three years of guaranteed money. So that's currently the bar in the first round. If Taylor settles for the same at No. 21, that would set a new standard following the NFL's new collective bargaining agreement. Things can change rapidly in contract negotiations. So it's unknown if Taylor will accept the current offer, or the Browns will eventually guarantee the fourth year. But as of Monday afternoon, that is where things stand. Stay tuned.
And the next head coach is ......

CLEVELAND -- The Eagles announced Saturday that they traded defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley to the Browns for a fifth-round pick in 2012, but Bunkley has not shown up for training camp. The trade was turned into the NFL office and appeared on Sunday's official list of transactions. But the Browns are being vague about what happened and won't confirm that the trade ever took place. Browns general manager Tom Heckert said today he had "absolutely nothing'' to report on Bunkley. When pressed, he declined to provide any information and said "You'll have to talk to Philadelphia.'' So for now, it's unclear whether the trade is falling through or whether or not Bunkley will ever show up here. Bunkley was the 14th overall pick of the Eagles out of Florida State when Heckert was general manager there in 2006. link

I thought this was interesting regarding the Bunkley debacle: web page Two years ago, defensive lineman Richard Seymour took his sweet time reporting for work with the Raiders after being traded there by the Patriots. Now, another defensive lineman has yet to appear in his new place of employment after a trade. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Broderick Bunkley, a first-round draft pick of the Eagles in 2006, has not shown up in Cleveland after being traded to the Browns on Saturday for a fifth-round draft pick. Per McLane, “[N]o one knows if [Bunkley] ever will.” The procedure that would apply depends on whether the trade hinged (as trades normally do) on the player passing a physical in his new city. Since the player has to report before he can pass a physical, the trade isn’t over until the player shows up. If there is such a condition, the Eagles and Browns could re-work the deal, like the Broncos and Bucs did several years ago after Jake Plummer was traded to Tampa and never showed up. (The Bucs later obtained a partial reimbursement of signing bonus money the Bucs never paid.) Whether the rights are held by the Eagles or the Browns, the only way to squeeze the player is to send a so-called “five-day letter.” “The club sends a letter to the player warning him that, in five days, the club has the right to place him on the reserve/left squad list,” NFL spokesman Michael Signora told PFT during the Seymour episode. “It explains to him that if they do place him in that category, he cannot play again this season, etc. After sending that letter and the expiration of the five-day period, the club does not have to place the player on the reserve/left squad list, but it may do so.” The devil will be lurking in the details on this one. There’s a chance that the Browns gave up a fifth-rounder for nothing, and there’s a chance that the Browns ultimately will give up nothing, with Bunkley’s rights reverting to the Eagles. Either way, Seymour ended up showing up in Oakland. And now he’s happy there. So maybe Bunkley should give the Browns a chance. It’s not as if he has many other options, if he wants to play football for money.
And the next head coach is ......

My understanding is that the formula was just used for calculation of the rookie pool, not necessarily for the actual contracts. If a team wanted to use the whole pool on 1 player they could, though that'd be foolish because they couldn't sign the rest of their draftees. Nonetheless, since the formula was leaked, most contracts have for the most part used the formula. Doesn't mean a team needs to - so it is more of a faux pas than a compliance issue.

jmho...If Brodrick Bunkley does not want to be in Cleveland...I don't want him here.
It may be that he is dealing some personal issues, but one would think he would touch base with the guy who drafted him out of college...Heckert.
I've been doing a little digging on Bunkley and I found that he had his worst season as a pro last year, with only 17 solo tackles.
He hurt his elbow in the Eagles 5th game of the year...here is the story..
Reid: Eagles DT Bunkley likely lost for season with bad elbow
Updated: Oct. 11, 2010
Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid said Monday night that defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley needs elbow surgery and likely will miss the rest of the season.
Bunkley was injured during the Eagles' 27-24 victory Sunday night at San Francisco, and Reid revealed the extent of the lineman's injury on his radio show on WIP-AM.
"He had ligament damage in there," the coach said, according to the Eagles' official website. "The nerve to where your funny bone is, that nerve shifted, and so they have to go in and straighten it out. It's not a career-ending thing, but it's going to take time to get him back."
Bunkley was the 14th overall pick in the first round of the 2006 draft. He had nine tackles this season.
web page
Looking at the 2010 game logs...it looks as like Bunkley missed the next 3 starts then the Eagles had a bye week...and Bunkley played in the next 3 games, though his stats show just 1 tackle in each of those games.
...he missed the next game then played in the rest of the games for 2010.
It looks as though Bunkley was playing hurt for much of last season. I do not see anything that says Bunkley had the surgery Reid spoke of...he may have had the surgery, but I can't find a story on it.
The Browns need to be careful, making sure Bunkley is healthy and that he wants to play for Cleveland. "IF" there is any question concerning Bunkley's health or his desire to be in Cleveland...the Browns should pass on the deal.
I'm tired of malcontents who don't want to be in Cleveland...
...I would rather have an undrafted rookie DT who is busting his butt to make the team than some Pro who thought he deserved better than playing for the Browns.

One of the weirdest trades I have seen yet.
Evidently he didn't want to come to Cleveland ... so he's off to Denver.

Looks like we didn't trade for him, and the Broncos did, or at least have now. Philly is getting a 2013 draft pick from denver.
Strange indeed.
Bunkley goes to Denver instead of Cleveland
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Two days after trading Brodrick Bunkley to Cleveland for a 2012 fifth-round pick, the Eagles had to find another destination for the defensive tackle after he failed to report to Browns camp.
Bunkley, instead, was dealt to Denver for a 2013 unconditional pick, according to Eagles general manager Howie Roseman.
The Eagles' 2006 No. 1 pick, Bunkley was a no-show at camp and when reporters in Cleveland asked Browns general manager Tom Heckert where he was, Heckert, "Ask Philadelphia."
Heckert was with the Eagles from 2001-2010, acting at the GM his last few years.

How is this possible? How does Denver have a wright to deal with the Eagles after they have already traded him to us.
They should both have to forfeit their 5th round picks to us or something.

it stinks, but the logistics match up.
Philly trades Bunkley to Cleveland. Bunkley refuses to report. Cleveland says Bunkley failed his physical since he did not show up for it. Philly trades Bunkley to Denver. We'll see if Bunkley will report this time.
Philly had a full right to trade Bunkley once his rights were passed back to them. Heckert obviously has a working relationship and probably figured that a backup DT that did not want to be here was not worth the aggravation of dragging this out.

From the above link. Quote:
Reversal: Brodrick Bunkley traded to Broncos Brodrick Bunkley - DL - Denver Broncos More team news Today - 5:15 PM ET
Broncos acquired DT Brodrick Bunkley from the Eagles in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick in 2013.
This is getting ridiculous. Bunkley refused to report to Cleveland after being shipped there for a 2012 fifth-round pick on Saturday. He gets his way and will go to Denver, where starting is a real possibility considering the Broncos' weaknesses at defensive tackle. The Eagles are stuck with a less desirable pick, and the Browns still don't have any pass rushers aside from rookie second-rounder Jabaal Sheard and undersized nickel end Marcus Benard.

Just saw that....crazy. Sounds like he didn't want to report, we rescinded, and Philly took what they could get. Pretty disappointed, a 5th for him was a solid deal.
Now we need to start really looking for another DL to sign. (and of course I still want a CB and WR. Who is not a rookie.)

someone doesn't want to come to Cleveland. Can't blame him at this point. We will be lucky to win 4 games.
Beside, we keep the 5th rounder for next april. the draft is the best part of the season any more.
PS we will be in the Lucky sweepstakes

Brodrick Bunkley gets traded again
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 1, 2011, 5:15 PM EDT Getty Images Browns G.M. Tom Heckert was asked Monday where defensive tackle Brodick Bunkley was, since he wasn’t in Brown camp. We now know where he’s headed: Denver. Two days after Bunkley was officially traded to the Browns, he was traded again. By the Eagles. Again. The Eagles will get an undisclosed 2013 draft pick from Denver. They were set to get a 2012 fifth-round pick from Cleveland. It’s odd because the original move was official, moving over the league’s transaction wire. Apparently it was canceled after Bunkley’s no show, and now the Eagles just dumped Bunkley for anything they could.
