Any of the old Army folks in here have the opportunity to go to Airborne school? I'm here right now and just made my first two jumps today! Unlike anything I've experienced before, especially the anxiousness while I was in the plane hearing the countdowns and all that. I'm still pretty amped up and decided to spread the news.

Went through way back in '87, one of the best experiences in my life. Only made my 5 jumps to get my wings though. Went straight to Air Assualt school after Jump school.

Great experiences, both of them. Night Jump was the scariest and the best rush !!!!!!!!!!

Proud veteran of the 101st Screaming Eagles.

Good Luck to you. Keep your feet together and bend your knees!!!!!!!!

Did they have planes or did you just jump out of trees?

At Benning I assume ? Do they still have those God awful jump towers ? I was more scared doing that than any of the jumps I ever made . We had a guy run into the tower break his leg and get stuck about 100 feet up. They had to climb up and stretcher him to the ground all the while the poor guy was screaming bloody murder. Took a 15 min. break then guess who got to make the next trip up ? I hope you get the chance to do a Huey blast or even a Chinook assuming they still have those in service.

My little sister wants to do this, I'm just not sure when/if she will exactly. She was just sworn into the Army a few weeks ago and ships out January 9th. She said she's looking forward to it more than anything, and I think she's crazy.

Good luck with that

+1 if you thought this topic was about the 1993 film starring a young Seth Green and Jack Black.

Had the opportunity to do it when I was the regimental schools NCO for the 29th Infantry Regiment in Ft Benning. I did the paperwork for all courses, and could have put myself through any school. Knew I was getting out of the service on my next ETS though and didn't want to tie up a slot and was a little hesitant to jump out of an airplane that wasn't on fire.

Wish now that I had done it as well as Air Assault school.

That's cooler than hell.........props to you to be able to shuffle to the door and jump right out and count to four...........(cadence stays with you for life)

That just may be another thread........Army cadence songs....hmmm......

ha, i still have a bunch of cadence on my ipod for when i'm running..one of my favorite parts of PT was running division runs with a strong cadence caller.. I liked to get out and do it myself too. that cadence is a staple
