ANYTHING? Sure.
Enough to actually make someone go, "Hey, we should have signed Tiki Barber!" ...Maybe.
But the dudes crazy in the head..
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Saw that, for 2.5 million 1 year deal. I think he's looking to start there. Rob Ryan likes him the reports all say.
I guess it's good that Elam's gone though, moving a starter to backup isn't always easy and I am hoping Usama Young really pans out

I really think we should of kept him for another year.....Young hopefully pans out. I know I am intrigued with Eric Hagg the S we drafted this year. Kid looks like a gamer, I suppose only time will tell.

Yeah, I'm no expert, just FEELS like we should have kept him. But what do I know . . . Here's a link . . .

I thought we should have kept him too. He had some lapses but he showed he can be a game changer at times. He was all over the field in that Jacksonville game our offense laid an egg in, and played really well the second half of the season.
He would have made an excellent backup to Ward, but I wouldn't have wanted him starting at FS. His skill set just doesn't fit and it showed at times last year when we gave up long plays.

Thought this was pretty scary. www.KFFL.comEagles | Trainer confirms Mike Patterson health issue Thu, 04 Aug 2011 08:13:41 -0700 Philadelphia Eagles trainer Rick Burkholder confirmed that DT Mike Patterson (head) has AVM, which means he has tangled blood vessels in his skull. Things could get interesting tomorrow morning. As long as the CBA is signed today, which it should be, all teams have to be under the cap by tomorrow, and there are a few teams that are still a decent bit over the cap, one being Pittsburgh.
I think the free agent pool will get a little better tomorrow as teams are forced to cut their cap numbers.

I'm not so sure about that. I doubt we'll see teams dump quality players just to get below the salary cap.

Some may have to though. I think Pittsburgh is somewhere around $11.5 million over the cap. Oakland is over $17 million over the cap.
Not saying Pro Bowlers will be cut, but the teams have to make room somehow, and the 3rd string HB isn't making $12 million.

Well, talk to Bills fans. They hated Whitner because he was terrible, and he still wanted $7+ million per year. Buffalo offered him over $5 million I believe before the lockout and he turned it down.
Obviously he took less money now, but he still isn't worth it. He is terrible in coverage, and we already have a SS.

Mason's 37, Cotchery just turned 29. Not a kid, for sure, but I remember some great catches he made against us and in the playoffs last year.

Question: Is Cotchery a No. 1 receiver?
If not, why bother? Do we really need to bolster our 2nd receiver slot?

No, not a #1, but he's reliable, knows how to get open, make clutch catches, and get YAC's.

The problem is though that we keep wanting to exchange #2s for #2s. (or worse) Let's see what we have in camp for now. We only have like 15 WRs total on the roster.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

If Cotchery is a #2 then he would be better than any receiver on this team excluding the rookies who have yet to show what they can be.
MoMass and Robiskie are at best a #3 right now. Cribbs is a #4 at best (love Josh to death, just trying to be realistic). Little, don't know could be a #1 or #2 but could also easily be a bust.
So if bringing in a vet like Cotchery who would be our #1 to start the season makes our WR corps better then why not?

if Cotchery can still play like he did when Mangini was his coach, then I'd be all for it (2006 - 2008 Cotchery was pretty darn good; ~75rec ~900yds ~4TDs)
if he is the Cotchery of the last 2 seasons, then he isn't anything better than what we currently have. note: His stat slip coincided with the Jets starting a rookie QB and acquiring Santonio Holmes and then Braylon Edwards, so he lost targets. his slip might not be all on him)

I'd take a chance with Cotchery. He knows how to get open, and we haven't had a veteran receiver leadership presence in years. He could be the Sheldon Brown of the WR corp.

I have a stupid question on Mays ........
He's 6'3" and 230 ...... a fierce tackler ....... quick but not fast enough to cover WRs ........
He looks ... on the surface ..... to be a perfect 4-3 LB. Could he fit that role? If he hits waivers, could he be someone worth a look in that role?

I just don't see him as an NFL Safety. I could see him potentially, as an NFL LB .... maybe only a situational guy at first ..... but I think that's where his talents might best be used.

I think u hit it dead on..
He just doesn't have the ability to cover. Reminds me of when Thomas Davis came out and had to move to LB for the Panthers..
Mays could be a beast at LB.

Edwards has signed with the niners : Edwards will play for the 49ers, the player announced on Twitter on Thursday, tweeting "It's official #Team17 we have moved to the bay. I'm a proud member of the San Fransisco 49ers." Edwards reached an agreement on a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the team, ESPN reported linkWho the heck is this "we" he is referring to? Wow .... $3.5 million for a guy who is (just on pure talent alone) talented enough that he should be a #1 receiver on damn near any team.
This should be a wake up call for him. No one else wanted him ..... and the team that signed him only did so because they are worried about their #1 guy. (Crabtree)

So did the Bengals. Though, like someone said above, it may end up making them better without Whitner in their backfield.

Edwards really needs some help ... because he's not only on the verge of an NFL suspension, but he could be headed to jail if he did anything at all in this latest fiasco.
If he goes to jail, it won't just be for a day or 2 .... it could be for the entire length of his original suspended sentence. (180 days suspended with 0 served) he hasn't shown contrition, remorse, or a desire to change.

The only ability he's shown lately is the ability to get out of Dodge.
Is $3.5 million for one year a good contract? I have no idea.
Or is it a contract edwards took because it was all he was offered?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong - but weren't the niners pretty bad last year?
I'll bet edwards only signed there because the coach is from Michigan, right?
