No, I don't believe that he will draw a paycheck.
If he is ineligible to practice or play, then I doubt that he gets paid.

The lack of practice time is going to kill his chances of seeing the field at all this season. He wouldn't have started or played much anyway, but he may have had a few opportunities as a wildcat QB or something of that nature.

Huh... that's too bad. So Pryor gets special treatment by the NFL in order to be declared eligible for THIS year's supplemental draft. That sucks. His "situation" changed because he broke NCAA rules. Seemed simple to me that he would have to wait until the 2012 draft to get in. Unreal.

I think it's fair. Most players that end up in the supplemental draft are deemed ineligible because they broke NCAA rules.
But, since he broke the rules before the NFL draft and he didn't declare, the real question was if he skipped the NFL draft on purpose (which obviously is not allowed). I do not think that he did and the situation at Ohio State getting amped up to the point there was no way Pryor could return seems to support that.

He might have been held out of the draft if OSU hadn't banned him for the next 5 years. (or whatever it was) If he had retained his eligibility, (except for hiring an agent) the it would have just been his actions that caused him to be ineligible, and they could easily have made a case.
OSU did him a huge favor.

Why is Pryor deserved of special treatment? Would they do this for a lesser player? I have my doubts.
This isn't meant as a slam on Pryor,, but think about it, he's, at least in part, responsible for Tressel leaving OSU.. He's pretty much helped put a stain on Tressel (yeah, I know, Tressel could have followed the rules and kept himself clean) he also tainted the football program at OSU..
I'm sorry, but for my money, this kid doesn't deserve any special treatment.
Still, I wish him luck in the NFL.

So what happens if a team takes him and THEN tells him there's no way he's playing QB?
Do teams get a chance to discuss this with him before the SupDraft?

That all being said, where does Pryor end up?
I don't see anyone taking him too early in the draft, but you have to think someone will take a flyer on him. Let's face it, the kid is just a tremendous athlete.

I seem to remember an article where he mentioned that some teams talked to him about being a receiver or TE or something like that but he told them he want's to try QB first.,
That makes me think there has already been some suggestion.

I don't see anyone taking him at all considering the stipulations.
You also have to consider the team taking him is giving up a pick in next years draft which means they most surely would have to keep him on the active roster and not try to stash him on a PC.
His best bet is to head north and play for the Rough Riders or somebody, with and against some decent talent so he gets/stays in game shape.
Then look around for a NFL team willing to give him a shot next year.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

What teams are QB starved? Arizona? (what if Kolb goes down) Oakland, Seattle, Minny, Cincy?
Where do I think he should go? Pittsburgh.. They'll make another Randle El or Slash out of him. Or, Philly. Thier offense is suited to a mobile QB.. he fits right in behind Vick. Isn't Vicks contract up after this year? Might he be a good insurance policy?

I disagree.
Someone will take a flyer on a player who is nearly as big as Tebow and as fast as Vick. Despite the personal red flags and the inconsistencies with his throwing.
I don't think he deserved the pick, but Cam Newton went 1st overall. There are obviously teams out there willing to take on risk (I would think Pryor 'should' go in the 5th or 6th round but would guess someone uses a 3rd or 4th on him).

I think that 5th round is about right for him.
I really don't want the Browns to touch him ....... but he is probably better than our current 3rd string guy. (if that matters at all)

I'm thinking someone just MIGHT spend a third.. a 4th for sure.. and most teams will probably have a bid in in the 5th round.

Given the "suspension" and the boat load of baggage he brings with him, I would be shocked if a team threw a 3rd round pick at him. Maybe a 4th, but I'm thinking more like a 5th round pick. Someone will take a chance on him, I'm sure. However, whoever takes him has to know that they are going to have to help him grow up. A lot.

Outside of selling gear to get tattoo's....what is his other baggage?
He supported Vick with an eye patch is all I remember. And there was mention of him driving on a suspended license but I thought ESPN confirmed that was a non-issue.

Everything surrounding "Tattoo-gate" is what I'm talking about. Sure, he's a fine athlete. However, given what he did and, particularly, the attitude that led him to do it sends up all kinds of red flags, IMO. If I'm looking at Pryor today, I see an undisciplined punk who thinks rules don't apply to him. I see a kid who is a diva and who I'm not quite sure loves the game of football nearly as much as he loves himself. Will he be a team-first guy? Will he be coachable? Can I trust him to keep his nose clean off the field once he has a little money in his bank account? To me, that's a lot of baggage to consider when you're deciding his value in terms of a draft pick.

you might be right, and it would be more inline with his risk/value, but I'm thinking 1 team will see the value and ignore the risk (to some degree). it only takes 1 team. wait, Mike Brown just heard that Pryor will sell 100X more jerseys than any other 3rd string QB he could have on the roster

I don't. They use the NCAA as a free minor league system. They should at least help with enforcing of NCAA rules, IMO.
Too many players screw a program by breaking rules and then leave to get no punishment while the program suffers for it. How did Reggie Bush get hurt? He had to send his trophy back?

Reggie Bush still has his trophy. He has said he will not physically return it (and I don't blame him since they never formally proved anything. and especially since the NCAA ruled that Cam Newton was not at fault because of his dad but Reggie was at fault because of his parents). http://www.businessinsider.com/reggie-bush-refusing-heisman-2011-6

Take his trophy back if they want to....but he was still the best player in college football that year. That doesn't change anything in my book.

2nd best player. VY was the best (unless you are talking calendar year, which is basically what the Heisman trophy is since it takes into account the previous year's bowl results at least some in perception but not the current years).

The Heisman Trophy is a Regular Season Award...
Edit: By the way, couldn't Pryor have transferred somewhere else, redshirted the year he'd have to sit out, then sat out his 5 games and played?
And if so, how is he eligible for the Supp. Draft?
If I'm someone in college, that doesn't like what's going on, I just mess up bad enough to get kicked out, so I can go into the Supp. Draft then...

http://blogs.nfl.com/2011/08/20/fourteen-teams-present-at-pryor-workout/"Former Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor is holding his pro day workout Saturday in front of 14 NFL teams at a high school field in Hempfield, Pa. NFL Network’s Albert Breer reports the teams in attendance are the 49ers, Bills, Browns, Buccaneers, Chargers, Colts, Cowboys, Dolphins, Eagles, Lions, Raiders, Redskins, Saints and Steelers. Steelers GM Kevin Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin are present, according to Breer, as is former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel. Breer reported one scout clocked Pryor’s first 40-yard dash – on FieldTurf — at 4.38 seconds, with his second slightly slower in the 4.4-second range. His vertical jump, measured alongside a cement wall, was 31 inches, according to Breer. Pryor had to postpone his scheduled pro day until he was granted eligibility for the NFL’s supplemental draft, which will take place Monday. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Pryor will sign with whichever team selects him in the draft and will not appeal the five-game suspension imposed by the NFL, as Pryor’s attorney hinted at Friday. Rosenhaus also said Pryor will play any position asked. While the Colts are getting a closer look, owner Jim Irsay let it be known the team won’t be using a draft pick on Pryor in a Twitter update he posted Saturday." Strange to see the Steelers have both GM and HC there. I wonder if with the lack luster play of JB we may actually be thinking about taking him? I would say 6th round perhaps 7th round at best.
If you need 3 years to be a winner you got here 2 years to early. Get it done Browns.

That big, that fast and willing to play another position, I think some team will spend at least a 4th and possibly a 3rd on him.
At 29 for 37 on hitting moving targets and most of those 29 were the shorter routes, I don't think anyone's going to draft him as a QB project.

j/c I would spend a 5th...maybe even a 4th...if he were COMMITTED to NOT being a QB...otherwise I do not want him even as an UDFA. Cribbs would apparently make a great teacher for converting him to a WR.

Just my thoughts but with how heckert has drafted so far I would not spend a 4th or even a 5th on a project reciever. He would get much better value with that pick next year. Again IMHO.

Yep, someone always has a roster spot for a guy with physical talent. And at least one GM will usually overbid . Id bet someone gives up a 3rd for him. Id take him here for a 5 th.
