Can anybody help me out? I've been checking on line - but can't find this guy. Only reason I ask is, it was in the motorhome - had a web in the front window, and we're taking the motor home on vacation tomorrow.
The spider's body, WITH legs extended, is just over the size of a quarter. The body alone is just over 3/8" long by perhaps just over a 1/4 of an inch. It's "body" is black, but the back end of it is basically a hairy "circular" looking thing.
The legs are black at the bottom, then blondish, then black again.
Any clue what it would be? I'm looking, but not finding any matches.

I have a buddy at work that knows an incredible amount about spiders. Helped me identify an agriope spider.
Get a picture and post it here, that will help.

There was NO WAY you could lift him from his home and place him outside.... where he could contribute to skeeter (and other pest) control?

Gotcha.
I have a saying as well. If it's in my house and I didn't ask it to be - it dies. If it's outside and stays outside - no problem. I don't care if it's warm or cold.
Granted, your saying rhymes, and mine doesn't. I'll give you that - but unwanted things in my house or rv - well, I've found that talking to them doesn't work. Killing them guarantees they won't be back.
And Clem - you're a guy that doesn't need to explain if you're funnin. You, sir, have my respect 100%. Even when you're wrong, I respect your right to be wrong. 
Anyway - I've been spending the last few minutes here trying to lay the thing out. Spread him out - whatever you want to call it - so I could get a good picture. Having a hard time. He doesn't seem to want to cooperate.
Edited to say a moth just flew by me. And I smushed it. He should've been flying outside?

Dissed (and deceased) Arachnids have a way of not responding to "Director's Cues" when it's time to pose for that "money shot"...
I dunno.... maybe it's just me- but something tells me he'd be a helluvalot more photogeninc if he was still in 3D....

It's a black and yellow garden spider.
That's it's name. It has black legs with yellow bands and a black and yellow body. (although some are more black or more yellow than others)

I agree with you, spiders die on sight if they are anywhere near the house.
Was it a male or female?? If it was female you probably have dozens of the things in the camper, and they usually do most of their crawling around at night.

if i understand correctly, you found it IN a web? that would rule out grass/ground spiders, jumping spiders, and wolf spiders. these are hunters, not catchers.
given what you described, and the relative abundance of spider species in OH, my best guess would be some variety of orb-weaver (not a garden orb-seaver, was these have characteristically triagular bodies). these are the most common webspinners in OH, they have many variations in color, can be hairy.
if the web was more chaotic, as opposed to a traditional web, that would point you in another direction.
Browns fans are born with it...
