Vickers is a back-up full back.

Lawrence Vickers = Terrelle Smith

Why do Browns fans always over-value their FB's?

the general trend on this board is to either greatly overvalue or greatly undervalue everybody.. it's like if you're young and show promise you are next HoFer and if that same player isn't in the pro bowl the next year they are a bust.

How many players from between 3-12 years ago have gone on to succeed elsewhere?

Not Hall of Fame level .... or All Star level ..... but simply competent level guys.

5? Maybe 6?

I don't think that anyone has been undervalued. lol Most guys have been drastically overrated.

It can also be attributed to other players that a poster wanted instead of someone we have, the other player maybe shows promise earlier, and no matter if neither player amounts to anything, our gm/coach/owner/beer vendor are horrible and should be fired for not getting the other guy...

Typically my Browns season goes from optimism, to frustration, to anger, to apathy... then when the season is over it reverts back to optimism.

In a nutshell that's it exactly. Hopefully this FO can break that chain.

Well I'm not going to start naming players but we have had some solid players here that went on to start/contribute on teams better than ours when the concensus here was that they were total busts and sucked and needed to go.

There is a definite trend here to be very extreme.. either a guy will be a pro-bowl player or a bust, there is very little room in between and when he turns out to NOT be a pro-bowl player, then he must be a bust.

I think that you might get your wish with a vet with legs LOL.

If I'm the Coach and I take a good look at the effort and attitude put forth by Cribbs last Sunday, then I'm going to try and get the ball in his hands more this Sunday.
If that means giving him more time at WR then so be it.

None of this WR debate means anything if our QB is not making good decisions and is not playing to a level that he has to be to be successful at this level.

As Colt progresses, so too does the rest of the offence including the WR's and this is why we have stayed the coarse imo, because of the youth and immaturity at the skilled positions.

Would bringing in a Veteran WR help this offence this Sunday?

My guess is ... not very much.

The best thing Colt can do is spread the ball around and use all of his options. If he limits him self as he did last week then the Colts will make adjustments on their defense to take that away.

Put the pressure on the defense to cover everyone.

Who's going to be worried about covering Marecic

Keep them LBers from getting too much depth on their drops and this will give your receivers room to work underneath

9 minutes ago - by Marty Gitlin - TE Watson says Browns must spread offense around
TE Benjamin Watson on if the WRs must improve for the offense to thrive: "In theory (yes), but look at teams where one position gets the ball more and they're successful. You don't get the ball to a certain position just to do it. If it's within the scheme, fine." The WRs combined Sunday for just six catches. Browns RapidReports

when the guy after the guy they "overvalued" stinks fans may have a problem with HANDING the job to a green rookie. Even the Clutts kid that starts in Chicago we cut looks better than Owen Marecic.

we should base all evaluations of rookies on their first game

I agree, let's get the evaluations out of the way early so we can ... and moan the rest of the season without "giving a guy a chance" getting in the way.

This is why this board is less and less fun to come to anymore....too much doom and gloom around here. What ever happened to supporting anyone in an Orange helmet? Like him or not Marecic is a Brown now....either support the team and ALL of its players or find another team to root for....I hate how everyone bashes EVERY move this team makes. *end rant*

There are only a select few who bash everything about the team. The trouble is, they post too much.

The real trouble is they get fed too much by replies which just keeps their rant going.

I didn't say that about you simply because you replied. I said it about all of us who respond to those crybabies in hopes of convincing them of common sense to no avail. I'm as guilty as the next guy. (Though I rarely, if ever, respond to akronjoe 'cause that cat is way out there).

I have learned to use it to my advantage. After a bad game or something the Browns do that has me frustrated and ticked off.... I come here. I always leave happier. I will come in somewhat ticked off that we lost to a poor team and read a 4 paragraph rant about somebody who is certain we will never win another game and should have a total staff and FO turnover because our back-up UDFA left guard had a holding call on 3rd and 4 in the second quarter and I think.. "Wow, I was mad, but that guy is totally off the deep end." Then I feel better about myself, about the Browns, and about life in general.

When we win, people stay out and celebrate, when we lose they come dragging home and get on the boards to vent.:)

I don't know if its to celebrate but there is truth in that. When we win I'm in a much better mood to go do stuff with the kids, go out to eat, etc..

NoOne should be handed a job yet marecic did play better his second game. i was speaking to only to that specific point. He threw a real nice block on the short yardage TD and did a nifty reception for 8 yrds as well.

Let's not short change Marecic. He also had a key block on Hillis's 24 yard TD scamper.

He has made some progress for sure.
