Did you know that Winslow has not missed a game in the last 2 years and has been TB leading receiver both years. Who would have thunk. I thought his knees would not have held up.

I agree that I didn't think his knees would hold up. I also didn't think that the Browns starting TE would outperform him in 2010 if he was healthy.

When you see it in my sig, that's when you know I've given up on a guy and think he needs to go.

To all who said welcome back, it's good to be back. I'd name each but that seems over the top. You know who you are. I may not always (or in some cases ever ) agree with opinions, but it's great talking Browns football here.

Buckeyed11's comments shed a little light on how I feel about McCoy, or rather how I didn't feel about him, hehe.

If I really wanted him gone, that'd be in my sig. If my criticism seems overly-severe, it's because they hype machine that is the media wants you to believe McCoy is something he's not at this stage of the game. That doesn't mean I think he's a bum. He does have a decent chance to get there, but he can't do it alone like the elite QB's in the league. Rodgers and 'Berger won with poor line play. McCoy won't ever be able to do that. He just doesn't have the tools. In order for him to grow as a player, he's going to need more talent on the line. He won't last long taking hits, and he doesn't have the size or the arm to do the things elite guys can. He still has to answer the questions about his deep ball accuracy from the pocket, and whether or not he can spin it in the cold. But he does have the spark to make plays on the run, and he does have the intangibles. Just keep in mind for good or ill, he's our guy for at least the next couple of years. He'll have to really lay an egg before a guy like Andrew Luck is possible, though he looks like a Seahawk IMHO.

I do want to re-emphasize that this offense is built around protecting McCoy. The line is not strong and the skill positions guys are raw. The NCO is tough to learn. After watching the game again, I saw two occasions where our receivers actually ran into each other during crossing routes. Those short routes are designed to create space by having the defenders have to reroute in coverage to avoid hitting either the other receiver or his fellow defender. When our own receivers are hitting each other, that tells you they are still trying to figure it out.

Just don't be too upset when we get blown out by a real team.

Have you seen the Chiefs?

They have now lost Berry and Charles.

This says it all. It's coming. We're going to take a few serious beatings this year. Neither side of the ball is really capable of hanging with a playoff contender.

When is that game gonna be by the way?

Miami
Tennessee
Oakland
Seattle
San Fran
Houston
STL
Jax
Cincy
Baltimore
Pitt
Arizona
Baltimore
Pitt...

I see the murderers row at the end...but if we can make a run at this with some really mediocre teams upcoming, by the time we get to the teams thatll really pound us we'll have a ton of confidence.

Miami, Houston, and Oakland present the biggest challenges in my book, and Miami's offense is terrible.

I guess Tennessee could be dangerous but they lost to a Luke McCown Jax and an emotionally disinterested Baltimore team laid down for em. I dont trust em. Now if CJ2K sparks they could be dangerous, but he's been pretty horrible. And Oakland after the bye...eh. Given 2 weeks to prepare and get used to the time change, we'll be okay there.

While a beating may have come if we saw Baltimore or Pitt soon...since we dont, I dont know when that beating will come, and if we can win a couple we shouldnt, Miami, Oakland, Tenn, Houston...we can build some confidence going forward.

My guess for a letdown game would be Arizona.

Playing 4 or 5 against Pittsburgh and Baltimore, with Arizona in the middle ......

Yeah .... I see that as a dangerous, dangerous game.

A case can be made that we should win every one of our next 9 games, with the exception of Houston. The rest of the teams are really not very good at all. The schedule maker was very, very nice to us this year. It was almost like Holmgren planned to wait to bring his handpicked guy in to face a cupcake schedule ........

Nah .... that couldn't be. lol

Fair assessment Toad... the whole offense is making mistakes, Colt is part of the offense and is making mistakes as well. They are all going to have to grow together and as you said, an infusion of a little more talent on the OL wouldn't hurt either.

The upside to this is that since Manning was out, our first game against what I would consider a "real team" isn't until week 9 against the Texans... so we do have some time to work some of these problems out. Not saying we will win every game before that but I don't think the Dolphins, Titans, Raiders, Seahawks or 49ers really fit anybodys definition of a "real team" poised to blow anybody out.

He was tossed for nuthin and we wasted the pick and had a chump imposter playing his position. Dumping Him and edwards for little to show for it left a bad taste in my mouth on mangini and his idiot sidekick kokinis.
We have solid TEs yet Winslow is better. OK I said it. yet I am happy how well we recovered from that blunder.

or not. what about the below 2010 stats makes one of them better?

68rec 763yds 3TD
66rec 730yds 5TD

and here is where the requisite "plus Watson is a better blocker" portion comes in.

Winslow is NOT better. He's just flashier.

At one time he had the potential to be better, but he isn't.

Some good news.

We play the NFC West and teams with really bad QBs.
