Back from my week in banned camp.

Yeah, Wisconsin is ALWAYS overrated. They are the Georgia of the Big Ten.

I've been right about 2 predictions, Houston was a sleeper team and Robert Griffin would be a beast.

Serious question,

Is it possible to beat Stanford if Andrew Luck is playing at his best? Could LSU or Bama beat them if Luck is in the zone and just dominates?

you would first have to ask the question of "Is it possible for Luck to be in the zone and dominate if Stanford can't handle LSU (or Bama's) DL?"

we've seen the NY Giants completely hold the most powerful offense ever Patriots at bay in the Superbowl. if you give a QB zero time to think, then you always have a chance.

Good point, that is the only way to beat him.

Nobody is going to "dominate" LSU or Alabama's DL I don't think... Stanford has a pretty decent running game and the question would be can Stanford keep it close. If they fell behind and were forced to throw 70% of the time, I don't think even Andrew Luck has a chance but if the score is close and they can keep it mixed up I think he could do as well or better than anybody else but I certainly wouldn't expect him to look like he does against most of his weaker PAC 10 opponents....

lsu has been my cash cow all year, i might actually have to go and spend some of this money on a jersey. I feel i owe it to them.

They are an unbelievably fun team to watch. I know where I'll be in 2 weeks when they play bama.

You believe Lsu is getting 5pts in that game? I'm thinking that line will change by next week. I think it should be bama -1 or -2, just because they're at home. It will be awfully tough to go into bama to get a win, but I think this Lsu team could do it.

I understand, I just firmly believe a truly great QB like Luck can beat a truly great defense if he has time.

If it were a truly great defense he wouldn't have time.

That was my thought... a mediocre QB can often beat any defense if he has time.

So do the steelers not have a great defense because they get torched by Tom Brady?

the wrong part of this story is being highlighted in most reporting right now

Quote:

The NCAA Board of Directors announced today that it will adopt major changes to the college sports landscape when it pertains to scholarships.

“These changes demonstrate a remarkable resolve by presidents,” NCAA President Mark Emmert said. “They represent a return to and a focus on values that are at the core of what intercollegiate athletics are all about. They also represent a clear signal to the world about what we care about and what we stand for.”

Student-athletes who receive full athletic scholarships will now be eligible to receive an extra $2,000 or the full cost of attendance, whichever is less. This comes after Emmert came out in support of the grant earlier this week.

The legislation also gives schools the option to offer multi-year scholarships to their athletes or maintain the current year-to-year model.

Other changes in the proposal include more rigid academic standards.

everybody is focusing on that $2K (or less) figure. What is more pertinent and could change the way recruiting happens is the part that I highlighted.

Schools can offer multi-year scholarships. If these are guaranteed (not sure if the school gets an out clause in them for anything other than academics, criminal activity or health waivers), then this could be a significant step in the right direction.

Too often (especially but not limited to oversigning), these athletes are brought in and tossed out for younger players. I applaud any effort to stop this practice and allow players to have their full time. I would hope that the overall number of scholarships would go up with this as well, but that has Title IX implications that schools struggle with.

What is more impressive is that they didn't drive the field and then let him throw a bunch of 2 yard TD passes when they could have run it, his TD passes were from 57, 21, 64, 18, 41, 20, 37, 22 and 47 yards.... That's 327 of his 534 yards passing, JUST on the TD passes... for an average of 36.3 yards...

and with their defense, he probably felt like he needed all of them just to be safe

I would probably take Bama to win the game outright, but if LSU is getting five, I'm taking those points.

Bill Simmons has a theory that I actually share and agree with. Whenever you see a line set between 4-6, Vegas does not have a very good idea on how that game is going to go.

It would not surprise me if LSU killed Bama. Their defense is on an entirely different level at times. Stanford is the only team that I think can beat these two teams. However Andrew Luck couldn't do it by himself.

Stanfords offense is dominant like the Packers in the NFL.

This is insane how much talent they have.

I saw Luck overthrow a receiver, though. Therefore, he's maybe a 5th or 6th rounder at best.

Miller still has a tough time with spirals, but it seems he's throwing the ball a little better.

They just don't make many mistakes either.

Barkley looks pretty good, but I think Stanford's defense gets over looked to Luck and the offense. Not LSU Bama good, but pretty steady.

His potential could make him the greatest QB to ever play for us.

I'd let him learn to throw a pass before I'd even think of going down that road. OSU passes less than Navy these days.

I wouldn't go that far ..... but that was clutch.

J/C,

Luck throws a pick 6 in a tie ball game with 3:08 left in the 4th.

Not a good week for the unbeaten.
