This thread is very simple...What is your most anticipated video game set to come out the rest of this year? If I had the disposable income, I would purchase every one. Here is my list (in no particular order): Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Batman: Arkham City, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Saints Row The Third, Assassins Creed Revelations, NBA 2K12, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
My top choice is Skyrim. My Second choice is a toss up: Batman and Uncharted 3. While Call of Duty is a fantastic franchise (which my friend Chance Glasco works on), I am tired of the war games and don't have the time to put in multiplayer anymore.
What are some top games for my fellow dawgtalkers?
nba 2k12, only because that may be the only basketball we see all year =\ (i know i know, college, but i prefer nba)
skyrim looks incredible and you know bethesda simply does not let down.
battlefield 3 looks awesome. I have a family member in the industry, he's played it a lot and says it's really good.
arkham city will probably be a game i buy on discount months from now.
modern warfare 3, i need to get that right away, lol i love the mw series.
saints row might be one of the most underrated series in gaming. yes, it's a knockoff of GTA, but it's almost everything you wish you had with GTA. I like that they use a FPS system (even though you don't have visual of FPS) for shooting rather than 3rd. Everything runs faster when you are choosing weapons, clothes, etc.. The story might not be quite on par, but i reccomend anyone to go get the last 2 games, they're both worth the money.
i should have madden and fifa in the mail today. can't wait to start my franchises.
Two of the ones I was really looking forward to go pushed to early 2012 release dates ... Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Mass Effect 3.
I was excited about the Star Wars KotOR game, but then I saw some of the game play ... and despite looking like a cross between WoW and Mass Effect (which should sound amazing) ... it just didn't look all that great. I'll have to wait for some reviews I guess.
Skyrim will be my only must buy on release day. Tight on money right now. Still want to get Resistance 3 & Madden(hopefully my wife got my hints for my b-day on the 17th). I will want to get Uncharted 3 & Batman eventually.
I also might be interested in Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PSP game. I still have the PS1 version of MG1 and the PS2 Version of MGS2. Someone stole my MGS3 but I never played the PSP game. Maybe when it hits discount or buy used later on.
Same goes for the God of War Origins Collection, I never played the PSP versions so I might want to pick that game up in the discount bin or used as well.
I'm going to be picking up Batman, but not right away. I'm thinking about pre-ordering Zelda (just the game I need to fire up the Wii again).
There was another game, but I don't even remember. I'm working on Crysis 2, Deus X, and Madden right now. It's very important that I clear through all of these games by March (a stretch for how much I play nowadays).
Haha, Excel, what's this Mass Effect game you speak of?
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Game play never looks exciting for mmos for the most part, it's when you get into it that it becomes fun.
I want to try Dark Souls as well. Sucks that I missed out on Demon Souls bc I dont own a PS3. ME3 when it comes out will be my only other first day purchase besides Skyrim.
"The medium for the bad news was ESPN, which figured. The network represents much of what is loud, obnoxious and empty in sports today."
For me Battlefield 3, gonna try the demo here shortly, the new WWE vs Raw game for me and my daughter. For my daughter Just Dance 3. We have the XBox, and Just Dance 3 will be our first Kinect game.

Gonna be the best pure game out there for the year. If you can't stand a challenge though don't pick it up because its hard.
i know, i pre-ordered it... I was gonna take the friday that week off, so i could start the weekend off by playing mw3 all day, but someone in my office is already off, bummer

^^^^^ for me although I likely won't buy it as soon as it comes out. I've played the Battlefield series for years with the DC mod still being my favorite (just too many classic moments with the crew I used to game with ). I've always appreciated DICE's kill zones (thought they have been pretty true) and attempts to keep sides even in the layout of maps and weapons / vehicles. Besides .... large maps that you can drive, fly or go on foot .... what's not to like.
The previews I've seen look awesome and the new rig I just finished will be able to handle it although it certainly won't be at the highest settings (3.1 Core Duo - Sandy Bridge, 4 gigs of RAM and a GeForce 440 .... fairly average).
Black Mesa which is a mod for the Source engine that re-renders the original Half Life in all it's wonderful glory. It is definitely my "most anticipated" game and that's because the devs have been working on it for about 6 or 7 years now. At one point they promised "late 2009", but that came and went with nothing much more than some youtube uploads. I'm not criticizing since, after all, it's a free mod, but 7 years of development is like forever. I could be wrong, but I suspect that most of the devs were likely wide eyed high school / college kids who were anal enough for a perfect remake, but have since taken on families and professional obligations. At least they learned not to set time lines after the 2009 promise. I just hope that they get it out before Valve's next engine and the expected final chapter in Half Life.
Btw, I found a chart of FPS for B3 and my card apparently will render about 17 or 18 @ 1920 x 1080 which is my native resolution. I will undoubtedly be dialing that down.

Ugh you're depressin me bro.
Looks like I'm gonna have to put some money into my rig to play this at highest settings.
Running an AMD phenom 2 quadcore that is a couple years old with an ATI 5770 (1gb ddr5) and 4 gigs of ram.
Looks like I'm gonna have to upgrade that video card already if not more.

Oh well I'll find out for sure on Tuesday.
Cheer up Psydeffect.
I would think that your quad out benches my 2nd generation Sandy (especially with just two cpus). Besides their recommended specs include AMD quad and they don't specify what series / generation. Recommended discrete graphics are DirectX 11 (min = DX10) and doesn't that fall in line with DDR5 RAM?
Then again a vid card upgrade is always a good thing. I prefer Nvidia, but that's only because past ATI drivers were a PITA (an AIW card that had several components to it) and Nvidia's Linux driver works well. I settled for the 440 since it was the only one that fit my budget and had DDR5 RAM. Unless you need the latest and greatest newegg had plenty to choose from in the $100 to $200 range.
My build was all about budget as it always is. I would love to spend the money to hardcore overclock a rig and I saw where an AMD Bulldozer was oc'd to 8.429GHz with liquid nitrogen cooling. My gawd that has to be insanely fun. With budget in mind I managed the aforementioned i3 and other components with a 1.5 TB HDD (used as a slave), a TV tuner card and a 23" Acer widescreen for about $600. I can live with it .... HD TV looks great and that's rec'd with my "ghetto" antenna (1" x 3" x about 4' deck wood with a $7 Radio Shack transformer, some hardware and coat hangers ... lmao ... it actually works quite well ... I got the plans from makezine.com).

Yeah I was thinking the 440 was one of the higher end Nvidia's.
And while I like my card there are some newer ATIs out with much more power.
Either way it doesn't matter, I played BC2 on medium settings for awhile before upgrading had plenty of fun. While not losing to much graphically.
But yeah I can't help it. I have a jones to run the settings on high lol
Skyrim is tops on my list right now. Not a huge shooter or multiplayer fan. But I am a visual graphics whore. So I gotta get BF3, MW3, And might try out Arkham City. Also want to check out Metro 2033. I hear it is pretty good. Never really looked into it. I know it is very hardware dependent as well. I wish I had the money for a better Sli set.
Right now I am running a i72600k @ 4.4 GHZ on an Asus Z68 MB. 8GB 1600 mem, ssd for OS and raid 0 for storage. 2x evga 460 2GB Sli'd
BF3 is out and Skyrim is sooo close.

Einstein could not even fathom the mathematical improbabilities of the Browns woes.
Quote: Wow, this game truely is impressive. I've only played for an hour but these are the best graphics I've seen for a military shooter.
Played Conquest Large, the maps are huge. Haven't been able to find a jet. I would probably wreck it anyway.
I am able to play on high as well. (shew)
Now you are depressing me. I said I wanted to wait to buy it, but "best graphics for a military shooter" is pretty much what I've seen in their trailers and sounds all to inviting.
I'm trying to be responsible with the budget after the expense of the build I mentioned, buying a new mobo for my sons desktop and putting new tires on both of my Accords. Now I'm thinking otherwise.
So I have an entirely n00b question to ask. I've never pre-ordered a game before. I always either rent them first to make sure I like them or buy them used off of ebay or half.com. But I'll be damned if I don't have a copy of MW3 in my hands by Tuesday.
I tried doing the "pre-order" online thing at a couple different stores but they all want to SHIP me the game...with estimated shipping on the 8th and delivery not until the 11th or after.
Are there any stores that will allow me to place a pre-order and actually go pick up my copy in-store on the 8th and/or any places that will open up the store at midnight and let me stand in line to grab a copy???
Fear us, for we are the BROWNS, led by the mighty BM! Only in Cleveland.
