I try and not buy games immediately cause I hate paying 60 for them, but when I feel I have to, I preorder through Amazon. They're usually a bit cheaper and the release day ship, so you usually have it at home by the time you get back from work.

When I did pre-order at actual stores, they never asked me about shipping it to you. That must be something new.

Can't wait for tomorrow though. It's like a holiday, lol.

GTA looks cool too.

I'm hoping it's a similar map to San Andreas, where you can hit SF and Las Vegas as well as LA.

I thought the last GTA was pretty good, although I hope they change a few things.

No more friends bugging you. That got really annoying. Unless it's part of the story, your friends shouldn't call.

Too many of those pigeon trophies. Less is more. Finding those in GTA4 felt like work.

Bring back planes.

Make gambling in Vegas a bigger thing.

Speaking of sandbox GTA type games. Saints Row 3 looks unbelievably fun.

So I have an entirely n00b question to ask. I've never pre-ordered a game before. I always either rent them first to make sure I like them or buy them used off of ebay or half.com. But I'll be damned if I don't have a copy of MW3 in my hands by Tuesday.

I tried doing the "pre-order" online thing at a couple different stores but they all want to SHIP me the game...with estimated shipping on the 8th and delivery not until the 11th or after.

Are there any stores that will allow me to place a pre-order and actually go pick up my copy in-store on the 8th and/or any places that will open up the store at midnight and let me stand in line to grab a copy???

Amazon you can pre-order and get release day shipping (which is actually cheaper than the standard shipping, its only .99 cents), also MW3 is only $57.99 right now on Amazon. But pre-ordering through Amazon the day before it comes out is risky, you only have a certain amount of time left I think to guarantee it tomorrow.

Gamestop lets you pre-order and then pick it up in the store. but again, that option may not be available this late in the stage.

Or you could just go into a gamestop and see if they will still let you place a pre-order, usually you just have to put $5 down. Not sure if they are still accepting them, I only get my games from Amazon anymore.

I just saw a charge for 56.99 from amazon on my bank website. That's a great deal for a brand new game. almost 10 bucks less than what'd you pay in-store.

And I don't have to wait in line to get it either.

Yeah, thats right, its $56.99, not 57.99, my bad, along with the .99 cent release day shipping, Amazon is the place to go if you buy games on day one. You usually get a $10 or $20 credit also, this is the first game I have bought in awhile that did not have that.

The trade in they give you is also pretty decent compared to other places like Gamestop.

I get my shipping free because my girlfriend uses Prime. She orders about 2 million worth of nail polish so I think for the 75 bucks or whatever it is, we save a ton of money.

GTA looks so cool, but the missions and high-level gameplay just seem so boring now (drive to here, follow this guy, shoot this guy, drive there, drive here, talk to this guy, etc.). I know, it sounds stupid to complain about such a good-looking sandbox game but I had a hard time getting excited about the last GTA game...and then I sold it after getting 10% in.

And I went nuts for all previous versions. Heck, Vice City is still one of my favorite games of all time.

Maybe when it drops to $30 on eBay.

I just rented Uncharted 3....not bad.

Totally get where you're coming from with the GTA.

But trust me when I say Saints Row is a better version of GTA. Storyline is over the top fun. The side missions are fun. Shooting system is far better than GTA (more of a FPS style even though you see your guy)

The only downside is I think GTA has a better car-system.

GTA 4 looked incredible, the story was ok, but getting through that game to get 100% seemed more like work, than having fun. Very tedious.

I wish they'd take the Vice City model and stick with that. San Andreas also felt like work at times although I still love that map.

I bet you can find Saints Row 2 for 10-20 bucks, and 3 will probably be discounted around Christmas.

you can do it a few ways...its a moot point because its out now but...

you could have done a few things...pre-order earlier and have a copy at your door on release day...amazon does this.

bought it from steam, and downloaded the game a few days before release...then the game goes live on release day.

go to a place like gamestop and reserve a copy to be picked up on release day.

It all comes down to if you want a digital or hard copy.

Picked up my copy at lunch, got the Bible/coffee table book/strategy guide but I will be going to my moms after work because my brother is in town from Florida. My kids are already there. Then I have a Flag Football game at 12 noon tomorrow so I can't stay up too late.

Then my mom is doing Thanksgiving tomorrow since my brother is in town and I will be in Chicago on Thanksgiving so again I won't get too much playing time. But Sunday I think I'll play Skyrim instead of watching the Browns. I'll probably get more enjoyment out of that.

As always with Bethesda games I will probably play 2 weeks getting a feel for the game and figure out how I want to build my character and then I will delete my character and start over.

anyone else just not blown away by mw3?

campaign mode was meh. Multiplayer seems like it just goes through the motions.

They honestly could slap the MW tag on a box of poop and it'd sell.

Hopefully spec ops can save this game, i loved that addition in mw2.

Just finished the campaign, was decent, but liked MW2 better. The game as a whole, someone described it as a map pack for MW2. Thats probably the best way to describe it.

ugh.... wow...

totally unrelated but history repeat itself in my Madden 12 'chise. I'm trying to play it as skillful as possible (No save/reloads if i draft poorly etc) and am in year 10, 1 super bowl appearance that I lost in year 8... Really thought this year would be the return to the SB and a win with this primed team. Facing the broncos (Colt McCoy is on them!) I am down by 7. 3 minutes left in the 4th at the 2 yard line, call a toss play to my back, and he got jacked and fumbled the ball... Broncos score another TD on that drive to secure the win

My first few franchises I'd end up becoming a dynasty by year 5 winning superbowls. Thats not challenging to me or realistic, so heres what I do:

Sim regular season in its entirety
Only play offense in the playoffs, SuperSim defense/STs
NO reloads if I do poorly in draft prep. If I dont find any studs in individual workouts, tough.

I'm dissapointed in the maps on multiplayer, hopefully they come out with some better ones with the map pack.

There are a few that are pretty good like Hardhat, Dome and mission because people can't camp but over-all i'm pretty dissapointed. I also like Village too.

I like that they added support and specialist streaks and now you can carry machine pistols.

The biggest dissapointment I have is that you can't carry a frag, flash and a claymore. You have to choose between frag, claymore or even bounching betty.

Ohnoes! Well, you've got to han it to them for realism.

Funny thing is, Battlefield: Bad Company 1&2 were so much better than their COD counterparts, but IMO Battlefield 3 took a step back in that it tries to be too much like MW!

seems like the treyarch team puts more into their COD games than infinity ward has the last few years.

I thought Black Ops was a loaded game. Campaign was above average, Multiplayer was an absolute blast, and you can't go wrong with the zombies.

I also like how you unlocked different parts of multiplayer with the buying points system which you earn over playing. Pimping out your avatar was cool too.

It's just the little stuff like that says to me they are trying to put maximum effort into their product.

Skyrim is straight boss!

I looked over things real quick for about an hour and decided on my character for my 1st playthrough.

I am An Orc Im focusing on two-handed weapons and Heavy Armor. im going 50/50 health and stamina hardly any magic. Big Emphasis on Smithing to make great weapons and learning enchanctments so i can beast my weapons up later.

The Berserk Power for the Orc is just straight sickening...you receive half damage, and do double damage for a whole minute...you can flat our own folks hardcore.

I switch between a two-handed great sword and a two-handed warhammer when the mood fits me....so far this character is extremly tough...i really don't see much that can stop me right now.

Dragaons...just wait for em to land to a and then give it to them....these two-handed weapons excel at staggering enemies and giving you openings to tear them apart..

if your more of a defensive player, then go one-handed and a sheild IE: sword and board...if you want to play aggressivly then go two handed with heavy mail....

of course my second playthrough will be with a high elf pure mage...im sure that will be fun too!

COD never could touch the Battlefield series in that regard. Don't get me wrong, the single player game play in COD has been outstanding for an arcade shooter, but Battlefield provides maps from small to huge, experiences up close and personal to the more distant. It's always been my favorite tactical human to human shooter and is just fantastic for ladders / match play. In addition there have been some really great mods for the series over the years.

I'm usually a lone wolf kinda player on public servers and BF2 took some of that away, but DICE once again did their best to keep the weapons kits and vehicles on each side fairly even. Hunting down campers / snipers was still plenty of fun.

Like I said before I have always thought DICE's kill zones are the truest. That's jmho of course.

gage, did you play Bad Company 2? I thought it was really good. I think it's better than BF3.

Also, what I really liked about B:BC was the you unlocked new weapons as you progressed but they weren't necessarily better than the old ones, just with different strengths. I don't like how when you start off it's nearly impossible to kill people, then as you upgrade your weapon through experience, you just trash new guys.

Are you on XBOX, PS3, or PC?

PC only baby! 64 player servers and keyboard+mouse combo... I can't play FPSes on consoles unless its for single player...

I played alot of BC2 following Modern Warfare 2. While it was fun I hated how the guns felt, like most battlefield products up until BF3. I also like how in BF3 every map can play any mode, whereas in BC2 each map usually had only 1 or 2 play modes, so if you were a fan of just rush you only had a small portion of maps to play. Since I'm a conquest nut in BF3, its nice that I can play all the maps

As far as upgrades go, I disagree. Many of the upgrades have drawbacks. I dont like ACOG scopes on my assault/engy classes since they zoom too much. I was excited to get the silencer for my sniper class, but the bullet drop was just too much for me, so I no longer use it. Reflex/Holo sights are cooler to look at than iron sights but I can use both no problem. Really the only upgrade to me that really makes you awesome is the bipod for the sniper rifles... no sway is a huge perk to me!

Now thats for infantry. Vehicles is a whole new ballgame. a fully specced out chopper with 2 guys with IR flares, a fire extinguisher, Heat seekers, and TV guided missiles (counting pilot+gunner) is a brutal killing machine lol. I can't wait to get my guided missiles for the attack helos, its my next upgrade

Man, if you've got all that stuff in your chopper, you must have been playing the mess out of this game! I've found the chopper in this game slightly more difficult to fly than in the previous versions (which I think is a good thing... it was way too easy in the first one and guys would just completely own rounds in the chopper.) I've got 0 (with a 'zero') kills in the chopper. I tried flying the jet once... what a waste of time with me in there.

I'm playing with a One Handed Weapon and a Shield. I'm using a mace right now and been doing a good job of shield bashing my opponent and then hitting them with my mace. I loved that they added the kill screen like Fallout 3. The first time I saw it I was fighting someone and in the kill screen sequence I shield bashed, hit them with the mace and the blade stuck in their head and then front kicked them to dislodge my weapon. I was like "Ohhhhhh *explicit*!!!

Still figuring out the leveling system. I didn't mind Oblivions system. As long as you kept track of what you were leveling and "Over Leveled" your char was a beast. This system is totally different though and looks more like Fallout with perks.

I only got to play a few hours Friday night and about an hour Saturday morning. I can't wait to go home and play it tonight.

Picked up this gem yesterday and promptly played for 5 and hour straight hours lol. This game has me like Oblivion did. Hours just melt away. I was in the middle of playing and realised oh man I haven't even eaten dinner yet and its 830!

I'm going middle of the road character, with magic and combat. I use a shield and one handed weapon but switch up to magic quite often. Had my first dragon encounter and it was an epic battle. I ended up just waiting for it to land and getting behind it. Anyone know how many dragons are in the game?

I killed my first dragon yesterday as well. Then I did the cardinal sin in these games. After I went back and I was told the Greybeards were calling for me. I left Whiterun and started making my way there. On the road I saw a horse. Walked up and there was a bandit dead next to the horse. Looted him and jumped up on the horse and spent about a half hour making my way to the Greybeards place up on a mountain. When I was near a dungeon, I made my way over and Discovered it's location.

When I got to the top of the mountain just before I went inside there was a Yeti like creature coming near me. I dismounted and pulled out my shield and mace not thinking anything of it seeing I just took down a dragon pretty easily, Whamm, Whamm, two hits I was dead. Last save point auto save when I left Whiterun. /facepalm

It was after midnight so I said screw it and went to bed. LOL Save often my friends.

Sounds like you got your style down

Two-handed weapons were not that grea tin Oblivion...Sword and Board was the way to go in that game for sure.

however...they have "really really" improved two-handed weapons in this game....they are what they should have been all along..sure they are slower, but they are much much more powerful.

You land a power attack with a War Hammer, Axe, or Greatsword, you will stagger your opponent almost every time....I have also noticed that even before you get the critical strike upgrade, you will get an insane amount of 1 hit kills with the two handed weapons...guys will have full health and i take one swing at them and im ramming my sword through them...instant death....if you power attack a guys sheild...you don't bounce back...he does...its just crazy.

I just killed two dragons a few minutes ago within like 2 minutes of each others....literally...the citical strike upgrade for Great Swords is just boss...you will get it and see a huge amount of the dragons health just vanish...

Right now i got a Flawless Skyforge Steel GreatSword i haven't enchanted yet...its doing around 53 or more damage with no enchantment...i also unlocked Advanced Armors...the Steel Plate Mail Armor is NICE!...its better then Dwarven and Orcish it seems, and its looks incredible....I chose it over Orcish because the Orcish Greatsword is way weaker then the Skyforge Steel greatsowrd you get for free for joining the Companions(haven't completed that questline yet) but its a really nice sword...but i really need to get started on a few daedric quests...

ahh so much to do..lol
