Wow thanks for the details KOB. I didn't get a chance to play tonight but I will certainty try a few of these out tomorrow starting with the Ebony Blade.
no prob
The Ebony Blade is insane though...don't be put off by its seeminly low attack power...at full strength it absorbs 30 HP from your enemy and you pretty much can't die...also even though its a two-handed sword, its attack damage is based on your one-handed skill (Much like the two-handed Avaviri-Dai Katana from Oblivion) I think at 100 One- Handed with all 5 armsman perks it does around 40-50 damage plus its has a 30 point absord health.
Also, once you kill enough people close to you to fully power up the blade, it also adds a nasty Silence effect as well on stike AND when you attack people with the fully charged up Ebony Blade, NPC don't consider it an assault and won't alert the guards at all so its a silent killer(other people will report you if they see you doing it, but the NPC him/herself who is being hit won't consider it assualt)....best weapon for the aspiring assassin in the Dark Brotherhood eh?
Oh and before I forget!
Go to Marketh and find an Abandon house on the lower level east side of town...there will be a mage looking guy standing outside the door...he may stop you and ask you about the abandon house...do the mission with him...you will LOVE IT...i don't want to ruin it for you, but it was by far one of my favorites so far...you gotta do it before you get the Ebony Blade

You guys are killing me, sounds like I need to get this game.
I'm making myself wait. I fear getting addicted to the game and I don't have much time to play at the moment. Trying to wait until after the holidays. Working on the new Zelda at the moment.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

I'm also playing Zelda...
It's the same damn story, same basic parameters/formula, but I eat it up every time (and most of the gaming world does the same). I just don't understand how Zelda could be considered for game of the year when there are other games out there that are good AND creative.
That being said, I'm biased, I love those games. The graphics are ... poor, though. I'm being harsh because this is the first game that has had me fire up my Wii in a LONG time. I've been playing Crysis 2, Deus Ex, tons of Mass Effect 2. Obviously a Wii game won't compare to those titles, but still... This is the first and only time that poor graphics have distracted me from a game. Movement gets really blurry, pixelation, etc. I'll go home tonight and play with my TV settings, but I doubt that will help.
I'm a little torn on the controls. While impressive, Wii Motion Plus can be frustrating. I'm a bit of a button-masher, and that tendency seems to have carried over to the Wii controls. The way that Motion Plus allows you to control the sword is REALLY cool, though. It's so impressive that you can hold the Wii controller as if you were actually handling the sword and it shows up as such in the game.
I'm still pretty early in the game, but the game seems to be trying to hit a middle ground between the last Zelda (Twilight Princess) and its predecessors (namely, Ocarina of Time). Specifically, this title seems a little bit darker than Ocarina of Time, but not as much as Twilight Princess. These are just initial impressions based off of very little play time, so I could be way off. I mention this because I really liked how TP had a much darker storyline than previous titles.
Flying is fun, breakable shields are annoying, I'm not enamored with the stamina gauge even though it totally makes sense, and either the puzzles are getting a tiny bit harder or I'm getting dumber. Probably a mix of the two...
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

PIcked up the ebony blade this evening but I only had about an hour or so to play. Any hints on which trusted NPCs to kill that don't matter latter on for story line or perhaps wont send the guards after me?

yes
just do sidequests, complete the sidequest for them and then kill the person with the blade.
however don't kill members of the companions, dark brotherhood, theives guild, imperiels/stormcloaks, winterhold mages college, or anyone involved in the main quests or guild quests.
just kill people or individuals that give you small stand alone sidequests...like the guy that wants you to retreive his amulet from the hall of the dead in whiterun...complete that quest for him then kill him with the blade...kill guys/gals like that...the the stand-alone 1 quest side quests....and you will be fine.

I just bought 2 used games for my old Nintendo 64 ........ Midway's Greatest Hits, which has Defender, Joust, and others ........ and Namco Museum with Pac-Man, Ms Pac-Man, Galaga, and others.
$10 total.
I don't need a Master's Degree in video games to figure out the controls either.

I wish they'd bring back Infocom games. The graphics were great, even if they were all in your mind.

I'm starting to become frustrated with Skyrim. Soon as I hit level 30, the game got much more difficult. For instance, I'm around level 27 and I come across a farnsworth camp. I easily take care of business and go on my way ( I dont save because of something happening afterwards, re load and don't go that way). I'm level 30 and last night I head in that direction of the same camp. Now all of a sudden I'm getting my butt handed to me and having to save after every kill and it takes me 30 + minutes to get through the camp.

What I think is happening is since you leveled to 30 a higher level Farnsworth is now spawning in that camp. Wait a few levels and you will probably be beating them again.

Played for a few hours on Saturday just running various misc missions. I've been working on my smithing (got it up in the 70s) and started working on enchanting too. Wish I hadn't neglected it until now, as I want my enchanting to be stronger. I'm currently in the mid 30s and finding the game to get easier. I must say when compared to Fallout 3 I am not a fan of the way the game levels up the enemies. Its annoying how a camp of some Fornsworth is easy at level 27 but the same camp will dominate me at 31. The difficulty seems to have leveled off a bit though I haven't come across multiple bears to really test it out. Whenever I come across a mage who uses Ice Spikes I also tend to have trouble. They zap my stamina and then I cant catch up with them. One on one its easy enough to overcome as I can just use a ward spell, its with in combat with multiple enemies that I run into trouble. Usually resulting in my using multiple stamina potions to keep pace with them. What do you guys do?

Yea multiple mages suck. My first guy was a stealthy character so I just stealth killed them if I could. I started a mage though and am having a little trouble with them, But usually I try to distract them with summoning something.

Multipe mages? that cna be a rough haul.... Shock/Lightning Spells damage HP and Magicka...so i always use lightening magic against other spell casters to drain their magic so they cna't cast that Frost/lightening Spike stuff. I have finally settled on a character i actually like...A Dark Elf Spell sword....Primary Focus is one-handed, light armor, destruction, and illusion....i don't block...i always a sword or an axe in one hand and a spell in the other. Illusion is such, such, such a under-rated class of magic...when i face more then 1 guy i cast a fear spell on 1, make him run away and kill the guy who stick around, If i sneak up on them i cast a frenzy spell on 1 of them so they start fighting one another....I use calm spells on those annoying bears and sabrecats...i clam them and they just stop attacking and walk away and i run right past them...spells like Courage give your follows more HP, and Stamina making them tougher and better meatsheilds. I cna't stress how great Illusion is...it may be better then conjuration to be honest and only destruction is on par with it because it gives you so many options in combat of how you want to deal with a situation and IMO allows you to take on multiple foes easier then the other schools of magic...and at later levels...you get invisibility and such...and spells like Muffle make it easier to sneak up on people. Invest in Illusion...level it up....give it a shot...nothing is more funny then a fire mage launching a fireball at you then you cast fear and he takes of running like a scared child...or watching two bandits kill each other thanks to a frenzy type spell...or watching that big bad bear just walk away after using a calm spell...so many options

I'm already thinking about my next character. I think I'm going to go with a light armor, thief, mage. Interesting about the illusion. I haven't used it at all but will give it a shot tonight.
Lately I've been enjoying the double welding fire ball spells. Seems to just wreck havoc.

I'm up to level 40, just got my dragon armor, and I still get my rear handed to me by frost mages. I think next set of Armor I smith I will enchant with frost resistance. Man that's annoying.

Didn't want to make another topic on it but I finally upgraded my ps3 hdd. Someone at work gave me one out of an old broken out of warranty laptop. It's only 150gb, but it almost doubled my original.
So far so good, Everything is there and it runs smooth The whole process was easy and other than waiting for backup/restore it was painless.
Also if anyone didn't know or was curious about, Your online pass things don't carry over when you backup, but they are recognized when you put whatever game back in. I popped in NCAA and it knew I had redeemed my code, so I just had to re-dl the file from the store. Painless.

Did you use a specific website to tell you how to do it? My 80GB pre-slim ps3 has got to be filling up. Is the trophy info stored on the hard drive or on psn?

If you sync your trophies before you upgrade your hard drive it will be stored on the PSN. Then once you sign in on your new hard drive click the trophy menu and it will download them off the PSN back onto your hard drive.

Yeah like Free Agent said, you use the server to save trophies. It even warns you so before you start your backup process.
I used a youtube video done by someone from TigerDirect. It was painless. Hook up a portable hdd to back up to (delete all your install files if you want it to go faster) then all you need is a phillips head screw driver.
Then just get a 2.5 inch laptop hdd, 5400 rpm (I guess 7200 works but you may see complications, they highly reccomend staying at 5400)
With load times, the whole thing took probably an hour and a half.
The new one is only 150, but that's bigger than my 80, and it was free.
You can also save your old hdd, and use it as a portable storage device. You can order an enclosure from TigerDirect for like 10 bucks. While 80 is not a very big hdd, it's more than enough to back up your pictures and music, or to just use it as a backup for all your ps3 stuff. I may just back up once a month just in case.

I finally bought into the hype and got it last week, and this game didn't disappoint either.
Usually I'm not into this type of game but it is a great one. I hope you've got a lot of free time next week because it's tough to put down.

Hey I got a question for you guys, I'm having slow D/L times on my ps3 (for demos) and my signal is close to 100%, is anyone else having issues?
Could it be my new HDD, or would that not having anything to do with it?

I haven't noticed anything but I'm not 100% sure in my tech ability...
Anyone else having problems where when you kill the dragon it doesn't absorb the soul and he just kinda ... lays there? The one right next to Steamcrab Camp has done it to me on 2 different occasions so I am just avoiding it for now hoping it will be fixed at a later time.

Picked up Portal 2 today. Heard lots of good things about it. Never played the first one. Typically this isn't my type of game. (my PS3 is an EA Sports machine) For $30 I thought I'd give it a try.

Anyone try out the new star wars mmo? I want to give it a try because it is star wars, but don't feel like getting into another mmo. I might try it after ski season is over.

Havent played (110 hours in Skyrim and not even halfway done it looks like. Not to mention the DLC and I want to play it again with a new character build), bbut the reviews and videos I have seen make it look meh average. Fun game but nothing really new. Bet its fun to play but doubt people will be talking about it a yr or two.

With a wife and young kids I can't do the MMO thing anymore. Loved FFXI played it for years but those games require way too much time. Also played Star Wars Galaxies and Everquest Online Adventures. Tons of fun and very addicting, but just not able to do with my current life style.

In SKyrim, are characters equal? For example, can a Nord be as good of an assassin as a Khajiit? Or a redguard as good of a mage an elf? If I need to restart as a certain race, I'd prefer to do it before I get too far along.

The stratagy guide I have says the following:
"As you begin your adventure across Skyrim, the historic Elder Scrolls mantra -"you are what you play" rings true: Although an Orc Wizard or a High Elven Thief may not be the optimal character choices based on starting Skill bonuses and racial powers, this doesn't matter in the long run. Choose the race that most appeals to you, and don't worry about the statistics and abilities."
