Has anyone had one yet? I like them even more than I did before, and a Wendy's hamburger was already one of my favorite burgers.

They changed the pickles and onions, went to a thicker burger, and a buttered, toasted bun. Yum.

Glad they sent me a coupon for a free single cheeseburger in my email. I think that's lunch tomorrow.

I had one on their first day and I really like them. I love a juicy burger and the bun is also great. Easily my favorite burger from the big three and near the top overall.

And did Wendy's tweak their fries since similarly redoing them? When they first changed to the "natural cut" fries they were flavorless and way too salty. But in the past few visits they've been crispier and actually quite good.

Though I try to not eat too much fast food. But sometimes its tough between school and work, some weeks I'm better than others at what I eat.

I don't know about the fries, but I agree that they are much better than when they first came out.

Even though Wendys may have named that burger in honor of me, I have to say that the KFC Double Down is possibly the finest fast food sandwich of all time.

I won't be running out to try it... Man Peen,, I've been so lucky,, Still hovering around 200 lbs.. Quite a drop from the 250 I used to weigh...

Doing one of these burgers would just add the poundage too quickly..LOL

I saw the commercials, and tried the fries when they first came out. (free coupon then too)

They taste better now than they did then though.

Ohhhh fooey, eating a burger once in awhile isn't going to make you gain weight, eating them on a regular basis will raise your total daily caloric intake up which will make you gain weight but as a whole trying the new Wendys burger isn't going to make you gain weight.

Being diabetic and helping to control that through what you eat is a long term lifestyle change, not a crash diet to lose a few pounds that your going to gain back twofold when you go off.

I would guess that 2 slices of cheese add to the calories and fat content.

If someone was really concerned, I would say they could probably order one without cheese and without mayo and have a somewhat healthier option.

I do love cheeseburgers though ...... so I'll have mine as is.

Lose the bread and you'll do better than losing cheese and mayo.

I love bread though.

I could never do Atkins. (or whatever the no carb diet is) I need my carbs.

as does your body if you want to be healthy. carbs are just calories that your body has to burn off. fat and cholesterol give your body other issues to deal with.

Just to set the record straight....you get carbs on Atkins. It isn't a no-carb way of eating...it's LOW-carb eating. Strict in the beginning and then you slowly add more carbs in until you find the point where your body starts storing them.

No....but it's mindset Kingo.

People who stay away lose weight because that is the mind set.

People who are overweight have to start looking at something, then stick with it....

For me....I'll eat one of those every 3 months, but then I'll make it a Big Mac....I'm a McDonalds guy.

I love McDonalds.

Haven't eaten at a fast food burger joint since maybe June 2010. Made a commitment to quit eating it. I get the urge here and there, but have been very good at not going (obviously). I was never a big eater at those places prior, maybe once a month, twice tops, whereas some people eat that stuff multiple times per week. I quit drinking pop at the same time. Pop I do drink on occassion, but I may only have a can once to twice a month, and used to have 2-3 cans per day.

Thanks for tempting me

and that's exactly what I am saying, you like mcDonalds, when you go have your McDonalds do you gain any weight? Now if you were eating it on the regular you probably would. Also agreeing with what michelle said and going a bit further, a burger isn't really all that bad for you, those fries and Coke are the real killers when it comes to weight gain.

But back to the original topic, with the talk about it I had to try one, so I had one for lunch. Actually a double with bacon, and it is way better than anything else out there from the big three. Not on the level of five guys or Swensons, but still damn good. So I guess I screwed my diet for the day? No, not really, because I didn't get fries and I drank a Powerade Zero my total calories for the day will still be about 1900.

A burger is pretty high in fat content, depending on where it's from, how it's cooked, and the make up of the burger content.

And I agree with Peen. It really is a mindset. Like I said above, I made the decision last year to start working out again. I decided to do 2 major things with my diet- cut my pop intake from 2-3 cans a day to about 8-10 glasses of water only on most days, and cut out fast food completely. I do go out to dinner. And I don't eat some stupid salad. I do eat my meat and potatoes, etc. and fried foods when I do go. But I stay away from the fast food joints. Haven't gone in over a year, with the exception of one time getting a chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A, no fries or drink, just water and a sandwich. Cuz I was in the mall and starved to death.

I made my mind up to do that, stuck with it, and it's routine now. I was never a big guy- about 141 pounds to start off. Shed 20 pounds while lifting, meaning I gained muscle weight while I lost the fat, so I probably shed over 20 pounds of fat.

Unfortunately I work all day turn now, and sitting around at night causes me to get bored and snack....haven't thought of a way to get me around that. When I was on afternoons, I would lift in the am, eat, go to work, do cardio after work in our hospital gym, then relax for an hour at home. No time to sit around bored and snack at night.

Anyways, love me a good burger...those do sound tasty. But I'm sticking to my game plan and not eating from those fast food joints. If I eat a burger, it's hot off my grill, or if I go out to dinner. I typically order chicken, though. High protein, low fat.

You have to watch though .....

Many dishes that seem like they should be healthy can actually be worse than a pair of cheeseburgers with fries.

I just read an article with some of the fat content of some dished at sit down restaurants, and it's horrific. Cheesecake Factory has some stuff that will harden your arteries as soon as you open the restaurant door. lol

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/booster_...lories-fat.html Here's an article on some of the "good" stuff. Pasta Carbonara with Chicken has to be healthy ... right? (2500 calories and 85 grams saturated fat. Yikes!)

Grab a pair of double cheeseburgers and you'll still come out ahead.

Give me a simple Big Mac or Whopper or even a basic cheeseburger.

Now that's my kind of diet!!!

I like the guy who went on the junk food diet. He ate nothing but awful foods like Twinkies and things, but he made sure he never ate more than 1,800 calories. He ended up losing 27 lbs., and his numbers (like cholesterol, etc.) all improved.

I understand the concept of giving something up and sticking with it, I can admire that, but I was just responding to Daman saying if he ate A cheeseburger he will pack on pounds, just not true. Now if he said, if I eat one cheeseburger it will lead to many, many more, then Ok yeah.

True.....but face it, we all have weaknesses.

Once you identify those, and face up to them, you don't go back.

One drink doesn't make a person drunk and doesn't make them a alcoholic. Indeed, it causes no harm, unless they are a alcoholic, then, they are screwed.

You can't have just one drink.

Food for many of us is the same thing.

You either eat right or you don't.

Case in point:

Me. I am 3 lbs heavier now from 3 months ago.

Tailgating.

No real big deal except that is a 12 lb gain over a year.

Lucky for me, that is part of the plan...the tailgates....I'll gain 1-2 more, then work if off through diet, then come the walking months, I'll ratchet it back up to 40 miles a week on the walking path and finally after 4 years drop in to that 180-185 range

All I am saying is don't underestimate that "one" cheeseburger.

It takes it's toll.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

So, I gave this new burger a try tonight. Am I supposed to notice the difference between it and the old style? Is this something you have to order special or are all their burgers hot & juicy with a toasted bun?

You don't have to order anything special. I just tried my first one and thought it was good. I could tell the difference. No toasty bun though....you'd think they would have worked that out with all the stores before advertising and starting it up.

Oh no, pasta carbonara is not healthy. Anything alfredo is high in cholesterol and not healthy. Yeah, most things at restaurants that I order aren't on the healthy side, but if I'm going to eat something unhealthy, I rather go to a nice dinner than hit up a Mickey D's.

Well that was fast food joints- the pop was multiple times a day! I still fiend for pop, I just have been good and just grabbing the water. The funny thing is, moving made it easier. My new house has the fridge with the built in ice/water dispenser. So all day I'm filling up.

But yes, only once a month or so for fast food before.

I had one today, and I enjoyed it.

Mine had the buttered, toasted bun.I thought it was very good. The beef patty was thicker, and the pickles were really good.

It is kinda funny though ... the beef looks as though it's not pressed like the old days when I worked for them. It used to be that the beef patty was pressed 4 times on both sides. This one looked as though it wasn't pressed at all. It was really good though.

I may have another one later this month. (especially since I have another coupon)

If I can save anyone some hamburgers I'll toss in a medical rant.

As an fyi the link between saturated fat and heart disease is well known in the current medical field to be a non-relationship. It minorly increases vLDL under certain conditions (hypercaloric + metabolic derangement) but isn't an important factor in any large scale study in predicting heart disease. Eat all the saturated fat you like; eat all the cholesterol you like, it will modestly increase your HDL (good cholesterol) and have no effect on your bad cholesterol. I recommend Gary Taubes or Uffe Ravinskov on the subject

Most current research is looking at systemic inflammation and LDL receptor disruption as the causal agents in heart disease. I recommend Chris Masterjohns recent lecture on Molecular Degeneration and Heart Disease. Available on Vimeo it will update you to the 2011 understanding of heart disease.

Long and short of it: Don't worry about saturated fat or cholesterol.

The nitty gritty: If you or someone you know/love is diagnosed with heart disease, get a full panel thyroid check. The recent theories / evidence in heart disease causation are from a thyroid deficiency. Studies are showing thyroid extract to be vastly superior to any other competing medication.

Quote:

Thyroid extract reduced the incidence of heart attacks by four-fold in the older office patients and by seven-fold in the younger business men. Stated another way, it reduced the incidence of heart attacks by 76% among the older office patients and by 85% in the younger business men. This effect is much more powerful than that seen with any drugs that are currently on the market and suggests that correcting thyroid deficiency may be able to nearly abolish the risk of heart disease if done so early enough.

http://blog.cholesterol-and-health.com/2011/08/central-role-of-thyroid-hormone-in.html

//informative rant

If I can find a Wendy's i'll be sure to try the new burger. I liked the baconator so I trust their judgement with this new cheese burger.
