Anyone else planning on getting one?

Mine is in the mail and expected delivery is tomorrow. Can't wait.

Loving the fact that it's 4G (on AT&T at least) and Siri. I really think Siri is going to revolutionize mobile communication. It's going to be a huge selling point to the elderly and those who don't know how to use phones, I think.

The elderly want phones that make calls, and do so easily.

That's it.

Trust me .... I have spent hours explaining the easiest Trac Phone to my mother, and still have to add minutes for her.

Make a phone with huge numbers and easy to figure out controls, and a minimum of features, and you'd have a winner for the elderly. If it just had buttons for a phone book, talk, end call, and voice-mail, that would be about all most elderly people I know would want. The rest is a nuisance to them. (I have also helped some of my mom's friends with their phones, and they are all pretty consistent with their opinions)

Mine will be here tomorrow also.. or so I'm told.

I got a really good deal on the phone. $199.99 (I guess the same price for everyone) for the phone and they threw in a MicroCell (makes my deal special) which boosts my signal at home.

I was running 1 maybe 2 bars before. But with the Microcell, I'm running 5 bars.. Reception is MUCH improved and dropped calls have been reduced.

I put my order in first thing in the morning on 10/7/11, I received my microcell on the spot so it's been up and running since last friday.

The I-phone 4 will be reduced in price to 99.00 and my wife wants to upgrade so that will happen next week sometime.

I'm assuming the MicroCell is like Sprint's aiRave, basically a personal tower extender. Sprint gave me one after I got our HR person to complain that I had no service at my house, and as the IT guy, they need to be able to count on getting a hold of me.

Basically it connects to the internet, and when I'm in range my cell uses the aiRave rather than the tower. My neighbor a couple doors down got his company to request one as well afterward. Both free of charge due to service issues.

Used to be at my house I had 0-1 bars typically, now I have 4-5 in most room drops to 3 in the garage(assume it's the block walls)

I thought about it, but I'm hoping the rumors of the Droid Dinara are true.

*I'm sure it won't be called the Dinara when it does come out, but that's what the rumors are calling it now.

Yup, that's what it is,, hooks up to my wireless router (using a wire of course) plugs into the wall for power and then takes about 90 minutes to activate..

works well..,very well

I'm going to upgrade next week (hopefully they won't be sold out). I still have a 3G version which I got a month before the 3GS came out. So my iPhone is a few generations old and It's time I upgrade.

$199 for a 16GB iPhone 4S is a pretty sweet deal IMO. Wife has the iPhone 4 so I will finally be able to use the FaceTime video conference with her and my kids when I am at work. There are times when my daughter sleeps till after I had left and is upset that she didn't get to see daddy off to work.

I love the iPhone, didn't have the need to upgrade but now my 3 generations old phone is getting very slow and has crashed numerous times. A few apps will warn me I am low on memory (RAM) when I open them because all of the firmware upgrades have pretty much maxed out my phones potential.

I'm going to take my SIM card out and give my old phone to my brother to use as an iPod Touch.

Siri looks pretty cool. I can see myself using it quite often.

I can't order mine until tomorrow...I'm required to have a work phone now and won't have 2, so I have to wait until it becomes available to us at work...

Nonetheless, I am excited to go back to the iPhone...much preferred over the droid. It will be nice to see all the differences between the old 3G I had an the new 4S.

I updated my 4 to iOS 5 last night, and so far it seems pretty cool. One of my favorite things at this point is the reminders, which can be tied to location. I set a couple of test reminders up to try it out, for when I left my house and arrived at work, and they both worked exactly as they should have.

I still have til the end of November before I'm eligible for an upgrade, so I have some time to decide if I want to sell my 4 to buy a 4S.

I think I'm going to skip this round and wait for the 5 to come out. My contracts on mine and my wife's phones aren't up until June and by then the 5 maybe out and if not I'll see what the Sprint version is offering since the Sprint network, at least around here is so much better than AT&T.

My son - (go read my rant in a different thread), has had a cell phone since he was 16. He's 23 now. Between losing phone, supposedly "wearing them out", and just flat out wanting a new phone - he's gone through 7 phones already.

He just informed me last weekend he's getting the 4S. And later that day, he told me how he's struggling to pay his bills - all while making more than I do.

I said "Oh. Life's tough."

I ordered the 4S, wont be getting it until next Friday though. I updated to iOS5 this morning though on my 4. Very interested in Siri, I have never been a voice control guy but seeing the demo's on Siri definitely have me intrigued.

I wasn't aware this was 4G at all. In fact, I skimmed the Apple site and didn't see a single mention of 4G speeds. Unless I'm mistaken, this is just a faster version of the 4 with a better camera (and some software additions).

Don't get me wrong, that's still freaking cool. If I wasn't still within my 2-year contract with my 4 I'd probably upgrade to the 4S. I guess I'll have to wait until the 5.

It's not 4G. It is just supposed to have about twice the speed over 3G as compared to the 4.

Yeah, the video of Siri was amazing. not sure I can ever use all those features,, what I'm mainly looking for is a faster phone and better reception. the 4S has dual internal antennas so it's supposed to have better reception,

Ok, thanks. Ammo mentioned it was 4G.....and I wanted to confirm that. If it was 4G then I would probably bite the bullet and upgrade now.

It's odd that AT&T is so far behind with network speeds. Isn't 4G the new standard? Sprint has had 4G for over a year.

The 4S is only 4G on AT&T. It is 3G on every other network.

It's not really 4G, but has 4G like speeds. It is going to be the fastest 3G phone out there.

It is too 4G. Apple rushed iOS 5 out to all carriers so it displays "3G" for now despite it being truly 4G. The software update will fix the indicator soon.

Trust me, I work with this stuff every day. It is 4G.

No.

I lol'd when I saw Sprint's prices. Looks like an HTC is still in my plans when the contract is up or a switch to Verizon.

My phone is probably 1/5 g. It does what I need it to do. Plus, you'll never see me walking around with my phone in my hand, staring at it, as life passes me by.

In what capacity do you "work" with this stuff everyday?

Only Verizon has TRUE 4G(not sure about the iPhone..i am saying just in general)....rest are all crap. They just call it 4G but it is not "true" 4G.

PS- Before you think i'm a homer....i use T-Mobile...my brother in law works for verzion and they are thinking about calling theirs 5G because of this issue...Rest of the carriers are between 3G and 4G...but not TRUE 4G....just FYI.

Trust me, I vomit every time a new phone comes out. And, I puke a lot.

I'm glad some people get their rocks off on new phones, and 3g, 4g, 5g etc. I'm glad, cause it makes me laugh.

But, you go ahead and work with this stuff every day. Lemme know when having the latest and greatest pays off for you.

The iPhone 4S on AT&T is HSPA+. HSPA+ isn't 4G, no matter what they want to say it is.

I hate AT&T they completly screwed up my Grandmothers bill and overcharged her. Eventually they got it fixed and she recieved a discount.

However it's still a joke.

Smartphones are not "throwing your money away." In fact, they save you time at work if you use them right.

Most people I know use their smart phones very little for work ..... and mainly for wasting time, like texting and playing games.

Take text messaging, the internet, music and games off those phones and see how many they sell. (or don't)

There's nothing wrong with people wanting a time waster ..... music box, and recreational device ....... but let's not pretend that most people who buy one are using them mainly for business purposes. I'll call absolute BS on that.

Ytown, almost everyone who has a smartphone has email set up on it. That increases productivity one way or another.

If you could save an hour a day of checking email in front of your computer and can do other things, isn't that worth less than a dollar a day ($25/month data package)?

He said MOST, and I would agree that MOST people who use email consistently for work are in front of a computer all day already. That doesn't mean there aren't SOME people who are out on the road most of their time and get great advantages to instant email communications from customers and coworkers, but there are still far more desk workers than mobile employees.

Personally my Android smartphone, is my music player when I work out, my cell phone, my emergency email (I have a separate email account the servers send status's too if something goes wrong, which alert me. I don't check my regular company email on my phone very often.), and my phone book/travel map/encyclopedia device.

What I don't get is the people who will rush out to buy this new version mid-contract and pay non-contract price, just to have it, particularly the ones that already have an iPhone4

No doubt.
