It was always my understanding that the Wonderlic was less about intelligence and more about decision making under pressure.

Alex Smith might want to hand the ball off to Frank Gore, not Kyle Vanden Bosch.

This could have been a statement game for Alex Smith. I didn't watch the game so I may be off base, but the numbers say that playing against a real team made Smith's true colors come back out.
If he can engineer a great comeback, it'll be a great statement on his part...
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

I'd say that the 49'ers made a statement today.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

oh well, this thread took a turn. started off with good intentions, but those are a winding road (seeing if a QB could suddenly get 'it' after 6 NFL seasons is an intriguing topic - i don't think anyone on here really cares about the 49ers as a team one way or another).
anyways, Alex Smith had a rough day, but the 49ers won. Congrats to the 49er fans on this thread. hope you lose when you play us, but wish you luck in your division.

upon some thoughts...
I dont think Alex Smith will ever get it. 6 years? If you dont get it in 10-15 games youre a bum...

It looks like this team is going to be tough to win against. They are stacked on Defense? And Jim H. really has the offense making progress too. He had a very short offseason to implement his system, but Wow. It seems the Browns are having trouble on O sometimes.

I wonder if I'm the only one that thinks that Jim Shwartz was the one out of line on Sunday.

Even if the smack to the back was bad judgement, i agree... Schwartz reacted like a total tool.

Yeah, Shwartz has been a total jerk through the first quarter of the season. With his storming the field, yelling obsenities at the teams, almost tearing his rotator cuff cheering like a little girl... In Minn., and in Dallas., and in TB.! He can be jubilant, but can't take it. What a pansy he is.

until he drives through a Wendy's or other fast food establishment in the nude while drunk, then he is an upgrade over the previous coaching regimes in Detroit.

I dont like making excuses for Alex, but after seeing him thrown under the bus, having 7 Offensive Coordinators, its no wonder he wasnt successful.
I mean, Ted Tollner, Mike Johnson, Jimmy Raye, Hostler and Mike McCarthy didnt do crap with us. Norv was our best OC during his time, Martz was a bit overrated.
He know has a HC who knows his stuff, unlike Nolan and Singletary.

I agree with you. And the 49ers are looking really good. I don't know if the Browns can hang with the 'game manager' that so many call him. Pretty soon, Alex is going to show he can light up the score boards. And if I'm correct, Braylon Edwards is back next game? I mean, Ted Tollner, Mike Johnson, Jimmy Raye, Hostler and Mike McCarthy didnt do crap with us. Norv was our best OC during his time, Martz was a bit overrated.

Alex had a terrible statistical game, but did engineer a fantastic comeback, completed with a clutch 4th down throw for a touchdown. I still think Vernon needs to be more involved in the game plan, but he is an excellent blocker.
And in polite response to those who think our schedule is has been full of patsies, we have the toughest schedule of any team with one or fewer losses. Our schedule is about to get easier though, no offense intended.
As an aside, what happened to Hillis? He's killing me in my fantasy league. I will be sitting him against the Niners D; I would even if he didn't have a hammy.

Hillis has been ignored, sick and hurt (in that order).
I think most of us here are hoping he's healthy by the 49er game, but hamstrings are a tricky thing to predict.

what happened to Hillis?
Week 1: Was ok in the Cini Game Week 2: Had a great game against Indy Week 3: Was sick for Miami. Week 4: Hardesty showed some promise in the Miami game so he got some of Hillis' touches early in the Tenn game, then we got behind in that game and had to throw it for 60 times. Week 5: Bye Week. Week 6: He pulled his Hammy on the second run of the game vs Oakland.

If we are going to believe in curses then we should believe in the Cleveland curse and we should all give up on our teams because they will never win. Just saying.
