Since everyone else is playing...
1. MLB - I love everything about baseball. I can listen to or watch a game of a team that I really don't care about at any time and be content. It's the sport I was best at and is tied to countless memories of family and growing up.
2. NFL - Probably would be 1A with baseball if the Browns weren't such a runaway garbage fire every season basically since I was 14. Hell even the Pirates have given me a couple competitive stretches/seasons since then - and they never moved away. Fantasy football is incredible though.
3. NCAA Football - Mostly ROCKETS based but I can watch pretty much any game and find something to like/root against in it. I love the pageantry of college football and the tradition of it from the MAC to the big conferences.
Pretty big fall... 4. A mish mash of NBA, PGA, LPGA (for the hotties) and NASCAR (but only for Daytona and a few other big races through the year... I HATE the small tracks).
Significant fall to beyond irrelevance... 5. NCAA basketball until March, NHL and soccer.
"If it weren't for my horse, I wouldn't have spent that year in college" GO ROCKETS

One thing that's not being talked about enough is the long term negative impact this could have on the NBA as a whole.
In 1994 I was 20 years old. I played baseball as a kid. Collected baseball cards and honed my negotiating skills trading them. I went to every home opener, with friends from High School who snuck out too.
I would say I was a reliable, casual fan of the Cleveland Indians.
Then the strike came.
And I thought really??? What you're making is not enough???
And the rest of the games were cancelled, the World Series was cancelled, and I decided to give up following major league baseball.
I've been to maybe 10 games since 94. Love the ball park. But my enjoyment of following the game evaporated.
I don't watch it on TV. Not as a statement or anything...it's that I truly don't care.
The NBA thinks that fans are going to flock back.
I'm not so sure.
You're going to lose quite a few casual fans.

It hurts the most because of how good the season and playoffs JUST were.
You had probably the most watched finals since the old Bulls days, you had a very very likable down to earth guy like Dirk, who busted his ass for years, took so much grief from fans and media for failing, the stench of the 2006 finals where they let a 2-0 lead get away. On the other side you had the most hated team since the Bad Boys in Detroit. It was a classic matchup.
I love the NBA, but this is inexcusable. No reason for them not to come to an agreement, this isn't the NHL where there were real financial problems. I'm not so sure all these teams were truly losing money like they led you to believe (and count me as one of those who bought into it)
I'll be back, I'm sure a big handful will either go away completely or not come back right away. Me? I love the Cavs and can't wait til they're back.

1. High school football: Few states could match Ohio high school football. Been attending games, and now watching on the tube for years. Nothing like seeing a game on a friday night under the lights. Playoffs are just as good as the nfl, as far as I'm concerned.
2. College Football. I hate the fact they have no playoffs, but overall still pretty strong. Has plenty of tradition the nfl lacks. Personally, I like having a band play, something the nfl doesn't offer, other than DC.
3. Nfl.. Can't stand the numerous timeouts, for tv, but the playoffs are so strong. I think the regular season is a bit of a drag at times. If the browns were ever good, it might be a bit higher.
4. MMA.... The most exciting sport most of the time. I started watching ufc in 06, when I started a job that broadcast their ppv's. Ufc really puts together some amazing ppv's. Great fighters, plenty of action.
5. College Basketball. Always been a fan of march madness. I like the regular season more than most. Been watching big monday, and super tuesdays on espn since I was a little kid.
6.Mlb: Regular season is way too long, but the playoffs are usually good. Been a solid fan of the league since I was 6 or 7. Use to listen to the tribe on the radio when I was a kid, since they weren't on tv that much. Back in those days you had to pay a premium on your cable bill to watch the tribe. My folks were getting their cable for free back then, so that wasn't an option.
7.Nba............ Right now, I could careless if I ever see another nba game. Lot more options.......
8. Horseracing..... Usually watch all triple crown races...
9. Olympics.
10. Tennis

1. College Basketball - Most of my teams are terrible, so it's hard not to favor the sport that your team is the best program in the history of the game.
2. College Football - Being a Kentucky fan makes this hard. But, combine the fact that it is the most entertaining regular season in sports with the fact that it's the sport I bet the most, and it's my #2 sport.
3. NFL - Only 16 games. Every game matters. So much turnover in the NFL that you can always think, "Maybe this is the year." Although, I'm losing that mentallity with the Browns.
4. MLB - Would be higher if it weren't 162 games long. But I do really enjoy the game.
5. NHL - Fast paced, and exciting playoff format.
6. NBA - Not enough parity. You can name 4-5 teams at the beginning of every year, and you'd be guaranteed to guess the NBA Champ.
7. Golf. Too much parity. If every Major came down to guy like Tiger, Phil Mickelson, etc. battling it out, it would be more entertaining. It's like the Final Four in College Basketball. I don't want to see VCU/Butler ... I want to see Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, Duke, etc.
8. MMA. I enjoy watching some fights, but don't go out of my way to watch them. If I'm at a bar that's showing them, I'll watch. But I don't make a point to go.
9. NASCAR. I only watch the Daytona 500. Kind of entertaining, but not entertaining enough for me to watch every Sunday.
10. Olympics, Tennis, etc. I'll watch if it's an historical match, but that's pretty much it.
43523497. Soccer. Terrible sport, I don't know how anyone watches it.

Really?
I love seeing the little school trying to take down the big boys.
Which is even weirder when you say the NBA doesn't have enough Parity, yet claim you don't want any in College BBall...

The difference is, with so many teams in college basketball, at the start of the tournament, you can typically pick out 20 teams with a legit chance to win it all.
If there's an NBA this year, one of these teams will win the title ...
Miami, Dallas, LA, Chicago, Boston
No one else has a chance.

And don't get me wrong, seeing a 12/5 upset, or even a 14/3 on occasion is fun.
But by the time the Final Four comes around, I wanna see the heavyweights, the big boys go at it.

Butler has had some good runs, I'm not taking anything away from them.
But they aren't a UNC, Duke, Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas, Indiana, etc.

Just like this year, a lot of Kentucky fans are saying they would like to see North Carolina get knocked off in the tournament, cuz they are the only team that can match our talent level (That's not saying we can't get beat by someone else, just that we're more talented than everyone else)
I say, screw that, I want a Championship game. The two top programs in college basketball, the true bluebloods of the sport ... Head to head, one game, in New Orleans in April.

Ok, I view things differently. I take each season as a separate entity. I agree that I want the best teams in the Final Four. But, I don't care if those teams have a historical background as being a top team.
So, I loved Butler making the Final Fours because they were definitely a top10 team the past few years. And those runs validated it.

It's just something about college sports. I want the dominate programs.
I'm one of the few Kentucky fans that'll say, I can't wait until Indiana is back to being a national powerhouse. I want the Kentucky/Indiana game to be a battle of Top 10 teams every year.
Even college football, I want Alabama, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. to be good. Forget Boise State.
As much as I'm an Ohio State hater, I want Ohio State to be good. I'm rooting for Urban Meyer to take that job. College football is just better when Ohio State is good.

fair enough. i don't mind the little guys getting their shot as long as they are legit good teams.
so, in football, Boise & TCU the past few years, fine. Houston this year, not so much.

You are only saying that because your team is on the very short list you have created.
Most of the rest of the college basketball world, the fans of Maryland and Purdue and Washington and Alabama enjoy some parity (even if it's not our favorite team), screw Duke and North Carolina and Kentucky every year

Did you miss my list for football? lol
Outside of Kentucky in football (lol at this scenario ever happening, but still), I don't want no name, who cares schools to get a chance.
Forget Boise State. Give me Ohio State vs. Alabama for a Championship, don't give me Boise State and Oregon.

IMO, this is one of the very few things Colin Cowherd has ever been dead on about.
Like he says, after the first weekend of the NCAA tournament, it's time for the little guys to get out of the way and let the big boys play.
In football, after the first of the year, the little guys need to get out of the way and let the big boys play.

And I've stated multiple times that with the exception of 2004, the BCS has gotten right.
You might not like the format, but most of the time, it's worked.

I don't mind the little guys going deep in the NCAA, if it's a bunch of juniors and seniors using maturity and experience.
But watching Butler last April against Uconn was painful. It was like watching the Browns play offense against the Steelers. You knew the road had ended.
Although I guess you can argue the year before they could have easily won that game (that was one of the best basketball games at any level I've watched)

Oklahoma/Boise might be the most overrated game ever.
That game sucked until about 8 minutes left to go.

and then turned into the most memorable game I have ever seen.
and even to that point, it was unprecedented for Boise to be hanging with an Oklahoma that late in such a big game. the pick-6 stomach punch seemed to do them in.
until they tied it on a hook-n-ladder. then they scored in OT on a statue-of-liberty. then the MVP RB of the game proposed to the Head Cheerleader in the postgame ruckus.
sorry, don't know what is wrong with you if you didn't enjoy that game.

Personally, I was hoping it would last all season.
If the Heat do end up winning the championship this year, at least their will be an * next to them in the record books.
how often do you hear about the * next to Tim Duncan's first?

Not excited the lockout ended because no one had the commitment or courage to instill a hard cap in the NBA. Many argue it can't be done due to TV contracts and such but look at the NHL. They pull it off.
