Nah, you need the looks more than anything...whoever came up with Luke Skywalker though came close too ...

Colt needs to go with his vintage porn stache to shake off the hobbit...Colt McCoy...cool name to have a stache, don't you think? at this point as bad as he has played, I'd try anything....GROW A STACHE, Colt

Not even close. I'd say this team is right now in the top half of teams in the last 21 years.

We're bad at a few things but serviceable to above average elsewhere.

And honestly I think we're heading in the right direction overall.

the guards were getting blown backwards almost right away.

bud Carsons last Browns team won 3 games all year. I still think we are going to get 5 wins this year. either way, we aren't that bad yet so no, this isn't the worst team ever

The latter half of the 2008 season should be included with the first 12 games of 09. That had to be, by far, the worst I felt about the Browns.

True, that was in Carsons first year here. In his second,, things went to hell in a hand basket in a hurry.

I find it comical that you guys would be arguing about whether or not this is the worse team ever.It isn't,but that shouldn't make anyone feel better.
In the film rooms around the NFL,during Browns week, the questions being asked aren't "what plays will be successful,or how can we stop them?"
The big question is "how are we going to keep our guys interested this week?"and that's why they'll win acoupla more.
No,this isn't the worse Browns team ever.Just another in a long line of losers from Losersville.

I find it comical that you find it comical

It's just discussion. Someone asked a question, others responded.. I don't 'see anything comical about it at all...

worst team the Browns have had? come on.

We're 3-4...not one of the better offenses we've ever had...but do we really need a reminder of the offense under Mo Carthon. That was worse.

Talentwise were very low, but we have a commital to a QB, we have a good RB (albeit bit by the injury/controversy bug), We have 3 talented tight ends, and 1 good WR (albeit he is still in the early stages of his development), and a LT who will hopefully retire in orange and brown.

We're fine. We just need to start building on the things we do well, something we havent done yet. We have to take our progress to the field. It'll come, and when it clicks itll be fine.

...NO...

It's a rebuilding year, just in case no one told you.

New coaches, new playbook, new players..some starting in the NFL for the first time.

Also, we have injuries...

We will get better...try to be patient and allow Holmgren's plan to work..

Technically, we've never had anything built (since 99) for there to be a re-build...

Too true (and I've stated that myself numerous times)... but calling it a "building" year just doesn't sound right

In any case, just another year of failure in an awfully long line of them.

easy to see why, however.

Here's an interesting (and telling, IYAM) stat:

To date, since The Return, the average life expectancy for a Cleveland Browns head coach's tenure is....

....wait for it....

2.6 years.

Did you miss the Seattle game?

DA's stat-line for that game: 2 for 17 (11.8% is pretty good, right?) for 23 yards.

That game was a whole 'nother level of crap.

Don't forget that there were high winds and seven dropped passes that game.

We won when their punt returner fumbled a ball in the last 2 minutes in their end of the field for a FG.

That was the low point of that season to me.

Cribbs, Vickers, and Harrison were the guys that saved Mangini's job for another year.

This 6-3 was almost as bad... but that Buffalo game was beyond awful.

Yes, while we are 3-4, two of the teams we beat are a combined 0-15 and should be investigated by the NFL for tanking.

The other W was a 6-3 stinker where Dockery headily bailed on the punt coverage drawing the BitB penalty where we managed to not score a TD at home against one of the worst teams in football. Oh yeah, and that team dind't have their starting QB or starting (one of the few remaining true feature) RB.

This team is awful on offense. Definitely top-3 awful offenses since the return. Not sure how long our defense will be able to bail them out.

We can't compare to other seasons yet. This team is definitely not as bad as the one who was 1-11 trading off between BQ and DA, but probably not as good as the one that finished 5-11 and had an incredible rushing attack. And those were the same team.

So much of the game is psychological, strategic, and constitutional. Those can all change greatly throughout the season. We can't judge this team against a complete season. Heck, one of our starting WRs might not even be on the team by season's end.

...oh, wait.

Just remember that Holmgren and Shurmer are here to fix the offßnse, first and foremost.

We've score 16 points in the last two games...that is a decent 2 quarters worth of points.

I just want to see what this offense does against the Houston Texans,

The Texans success is going to be the only thing close to what kind of level they are going to have to reach when they play Pitt and Balt, so, hopefully, they can line up and rush for 175 yards and 4 tds,and throw for a td too. Maybe they can get a decent victory and make a statement vs the Texans,

Then folks wouldn't be able to ask if this is the whatever in 21 years.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

This isn't the worst Browns team since 1999,but to me its evident they aren't attempting to win this year.
and for the loyal fans who have suffered since the return, thats just smacks of arrogance from the front office.
They know what ever they tell the loyal fan base, they will buy into it blindly.
If this team was trying to win, they wouldn't started Tony Pashos or Brian Robiskie week 1 for example...
if they were trying to win they wouldn't be forcing a offense onto Colt McCoy that he is clearly not comfy with....

2002 was slightly better
better than 2003
better than 2004
better than 2005
better than 2006
2007 was better
better than 2008

we are trying to build a winning SYSTEM here. I can see the desired result once we get the pieces in place. A fast, opportunistic defense and the versatile NCO on offense.

While I'm generally in the camp where you play to players strengths, not force a system, the truth is close to half of the players on O and D wont be here in 2 years time. The other half are rooks or 1 year pros and the front office figures why not get those guys ingrained in the philosophy now so when we add more rooks later they wont just have coach support but player support too.

I think theres merit to both arguments saying Colt isn't showing enough to be the guy (Truth) and Colt not having enough support on offense (Truth). We have the rest of the season for this training seminar and I trust in the H&H to make the right moves at all positions

Jay Gruden is proving you don't need 2 to 3 years to inteplent a system to get it to go.
He's having Dalton get the ball out of his hands at the average of 2.3 seconds.
Then the WR's do the work.
Occasionally Dalton will take shots down field to whoever.
The Bengals have WR's that are excellent at the YAC. Heck I will throw in the Steelers....Antonio Brown would be the #1 on this team.
How come the Browns don't.
maybe the Bengals offense is more simplified....which is the less is more theroy. But I know one thing, the Browns have the worst offense in the AFC outside of Miami.....wow Daboll is really the genius some made him out to be
Nothing has shown on offense that tells me that Holmgren and Shurmur are putting something special together.
It looks rather vanilla and uninspiring.

Pitt is a horrible example, they have run the same systems for years.

A Cincy has had the same HC for what 7 years now?

I was refering to the YAC ability with the WRs.....not so much the system with Pittsburgh.
doesn't matter how long Lewis has been there.....
Cincy overhauled their whole offense from last year...new qb...wr...oc..terminology etc etc.

YAC is half the receiver, half the QB. Great receivers can generate YAC just by having good shiftiness and vision after the catch; but good QB's will deliver a ball in space so he has that room to work in. One of the things that we haven't been able to do on offense in a long time is generate good YAC on offense and its always hurt us

the Browns WR's are not very creative or shiftness after the catch...none of them have that ability to catch, make a DB miss and turn up field for extra yards..
when was the last time you saw a Browns WR take a slant route in front of a LB and out run the saftey and go to the house?
very rarely

Braylon Edwards, 2006, Thursday Night Football @ Steelers

But guess what.

Taking a slant route for a big gain usually has more to do with the QB than it does the WR.

... AND it happens very rarely in any case because the wideout has to outrun more than 1 or 2 defenders on a slant route.

Dalton also has a productive running game and AJ Green.

also to whoever wrote it...worst offense in the AFC outside of Miami?

Have you watched
Jacksonville?
Indy?
NYJ?
Denver?

Theyre all way worse. We're close to a top 10 offense in the AFC. I think we're 11th

I just looked at NFL.com
heres some stats for the Browns offense

TDS 14..11th in AFC.....only the Dolphins and Jags have less....(great job Daboll)
Rushing TDS....2...16th in the AFC
Rushing YDS 613....15th in the AFC
plays of 20 plus yards 11.....16th in the AFC
plays of 40 plus yards 2...13th in the AFC
QB hits..44...2nd in the AFC

I think the Jets and Broncos are averaging more PTS per game than the Browns.
