Wow .... what a stupid series of playcalling for Alabama.

Yes I agree.

It's LSU's game to lose now that Bama came up empty.

Alabama sure did shoot themselves in the foot at the end of the game. I sure would hate to be that kicker tonight.

I generally try to watch Oklahoma State when I can so I can actually see what a fun offense is. Lord knows I won't see that tomorrow...

Congratulations to LSU ... Sorry for all of you folks who took the over on this game

Yeah, though was it boring because the defenses are so good? I'm not so sure.

Sets up a very interesting match up between OU and OSU (Okla State) for all you Ohio State homers.

OU trounced KSU 58 - 17 and OSU just squeeks by with a win.

I understand, but understand that sometimes D is a part of the game.

Both have good offenses.

Those are the 2 best teams in the country by a good margin.

Watching the LSU.. Bama game... I had to laugh...if the Browns had a game where every one stood the whole time....Would the stadium be empty by the end..from getting thrown out for standing...

As for the Buckeyes game... one more win to keep Urban out of here.

Well LSU plays Western Kentucky so it shouldn't be that hard

I'm with you though Peen... I thought it was a really good game because I do like watching defenses.... I personally thought that Bama was the better team but LSU just caught the breaks.... LSU did just enough to hang around.... That interception late in the game by LSU was outstanding! I thought for sure the Bama guy had the ball until replay... just an amazing play...

I don't see Bama losing another game this year and really I doubt LSU will either... though I'm really looking forward to see Arkansas and LSU... that should be a great game. I'm not sure anyone in the East has a chance to knock off the winner of the West... we'll see

The Ok state/Kansas st game was awesome as well... I watched a lot of that one too... I really was pulling for Kansas St just b/c I like upsets... but you gotta give it to Ok State. They had a lot of mistakes and ended up giving up a ton of points, but man that offense is unbelievable...

really liked this article on 'the game of the century'

http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...ma-crimson-tide

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- If that was The Game of the Century, then I want my 100 years back.

Top-ranked LSU's 9-6 overtime win against No. 2 Alabama Saturday evening wasn't the game of the century, decade or season. I'm not even sure it was the game of the day.

So let's get this out of the way right now: These two teams deserve a BCS championship rematch like Kim Kardashian deserves to keep her wedding gifts.

I'm not saying LSU's victory suffered from drama deprivation. It didn't. It was the leading cause of gnawed-off fingernails at an electric Bryant-Denny Stadium. The edge of my press box seat was worn down by the time Drew Alleman's 25-yard game-winning field goal somersaulted through the uprights.

But was it a football classic? Close, very close, but no.

Classics don't have four interceptions, four missed field goals, 13 penalties, one fumble, one botched punt returns and zero touchdowns. A punter shouldn't be the best player on the field in a classic.

Bottom line: only a classic is worthy of a Jan. 9 rematch in New Orleans. And this wasn't one of them.

"I think the world wants a rematch, honestly," said LSU defensive end Sam Montgomery. "It would be lovely to play such a great, competitive team out there again. I think everybody wants a rematch: the media, the people, the fans."

Not me. Not when Oklahoma State, which played, hands down, the most entertaining game of the day against Kansas State, is still undefeated.

Not when Stanford, even with its recent run of injuries, hasn't lost a game.

Not when Boise State, which continues to roll along, remains unbeaten.

Not when 9-0 Houston -- OK, maybe not Houston. Yet.

Alabama had its chance. Actually, it had lots of chances to beat LSU in front of 101,821 hyper-geeked fans … at home … against a team that completed a grand total of nine passes.

Instead, the Crimson Tide did a belly flop when it mattered most. Five different times they grinded their way to the LSU 35-yard line, or closer, and five times they jogged back to the Bama sideline with zilch points.

"We still can go to the national championship," said Bama wide receiver Marquis Maze. "We're still a national championship team. I feel like we're still the best team in the country. Anything can happen."

And Maze wasn't done. When I asked him if he thought Bama was the better of the two teams, he didn't hesitate.

"Yes, I think we're the best team in the country," he said. "I think if we played them again we wouldn't lose."

Unless Oklahoma State, Stanford and probably Boise State lose between now and the beginning of bowl season, it doesn't matter if Bama would win a rematch. Because there won't be a rematch.

You can make a case, a semi-decent one, that the Crimson Tide shouldn't be dismissed from the BCS championship equation. After all, they only lost by three points in overtime to the No. 1 team in the country.

"I think we definitely have a chance of seeing those guys again if we finish strong," said Bama wide receiver Darius Hanks, who added that the Crimson Tide were "definitely" superior to LSU.

And this from Bama linebacker Nico Johnson: "Oh, no, it's never over."

He's sort of right. TCU could beat Boise on the blue carpet Saturday. Oregon could do the same against the Cardinal at Stanford Stadium. Oklahoma could defeat Oklahoma State come Bedlam on Saturday in December. Things happen.

But it's going to take a lot of BCS gymnastics for Bama to jump back into the championship mix. I don't think they have enough room on the mat to nail the landing.

Hanks and Maze wouldn't admit it, but LSU's magnificent defense had a lot to do with making the Crimson Tide look ordinary. The Tigers do that.

But you can't miss four field goals, as Bama did Saturday evening, and expect anyone to want LSU-Bama -- The Sequel. You can't make costly penalties. You can't throw two interceptions (including one in the fourth quarter, when the Tide was already in field-goal range).

"To me, we didn't take advantage of the opportunities we had," said Alabama coach Nick Saban.

And then he recited the grocery list of missed chances. He knew.

If Saban is thinking about another crack at LSU, he wouldn't say so publicly.

"Whoever the folks are who make those decisions will make those decisions based on a full body of work of every team in the country and choose which teams are the best," he said. "I really can't speculate on a hypothetical situation. And it's really not our focus right now anyway."

Not now. But as he watches the film of this one, Saban is going to realize his team could have, and probably should have beaten LSU. Bama's defense intercepted a pair of Jarrett Lee passes. It neutered the Tigers' passing attack. It held LSU to three field goals.

But it lost. And however you want to spell it, a capital L is going to be next to Bama's name.

"We can't let this loss affect us," said Hanks. "It hurts. At the same time, we've got to come out there on Monday and act like this loss never happened."

If only were that easy. Bama's players might have short memories, but the BCS computers and voters remember everything. And they'll remember this as the night when the Crimson Tide lost its argument for a rematch.

Definitely two of the best teams in the country.

However, Alabama lost at home, which takes them out of the conversation for the national title game. - Unless, Boise St., Ok. St, and Stanford all lose.

Everybody felt that Florida and Alabama were the two best teams in the country back in 2008. - Some felt they should play each other for the national title, even after Florida beat Alabama in the sec title game.

In the end, we saw how stupid of an idea this was as Alabama got beat by two touchdowns in it's bowl game loss to Utah.

Stanford v LSU for the title, and an sec team finally gets to see a good quarterback at work.

hey maybe we can have everyone but BSU and UH lose one game that'd be a great championship game

ok... maybe not... but I am pulling for Arkansas because when my team isn't involved I do love conterversy in college football

If that were a Big 10 game, SEC fans would be railing on it for being so boring, but because it was their own, it was just "2 great defenses"

Look, I'm not gonna take too much away from those defenses, because they are very good, but all 3 quarterbacks that played in that game were HORRIBLE.

Seriously, I felt like I was watching the Browns in that game. AJ McCarron is a joke. Not ready for big time.

Since that thing went to overtime, we're going to have to hear about a rematch for the NC, which absolutely should not happen. Like I said before OSU/UM '06, if you don't win your conference, you should not be able to play for a championship.

It was a good game, but it definitely did not live up to the hype, only the defenses showed up, and poor QB play factored into the defenses looking even better.

I watched some of the game last night between the #1 and #2 teams. Color me unimpressed.

I also saw some of Barkley's game earlier in the day. Granted, I didn't watch the whole thing - but from what I DID see - if he's #2 qb talent - this draft is week at qb.

I don't watch much college football. Maybe I just saw bad days from barkley (I didn't see the whole game), and from the supposed best and second best teams in the country - but I was less than impressed.

Eh, okay, it was friday night I watched some of the game then. Yes, I watched barkley. Not the whole game - perhaps a quarter and a half. (forgive me - daughter had friends over friday night)

I even made the comment to my wife "wow, some people think this guy is awesome. I don't see it."

But again, I didn't watch the whole game.

So you're unimpressed with a 3 point game in Overtime when both defense show just how dominate they are?

Barkley was 25-39, 318 yards (8.2 yards per attempt), 6 TD's and 1 INT.

Yeah Barkley had a monster game Friday, even if it was against Colorado (wow they are horrible, I've seen 3 games of theirs this year, USC, OSU, and Oregon, and they didn't make it out of the first half of any of them)

So far, Andrew Luck as played San Jose State, Duke, Arizona, UCLA, Colorado, Washington State, Washington, USC and Oregon State.

Does that mean we should discredit Luck, too?

I hope they run the table so we can see him face that LSU defense. The media and fans will either crown him the greatest quarterback to walk the earth, or the most overrated overhyped quarterback since whichever of the group of busts of the last 20 years you think was the worst.

I like Barkley a lot though. I think it's a guy the Browns should strongly consider should the season finish out like the way its heading.

LSU would still get in even if they lose due to tie breakers.

A one loss SEC team...LSU or Bama gets in the championship game.

If the east team somehow beat either in the SEC Championship, the SEC might get dumped from the big game.

If you don't want to see the SEC in the BCS title game, root against the west team in the SEC Championship.

I do understand how some non SEC fans are tired of always seeing the SEC hoist the trophy, and understand them not getting in is about the only way the SEC team won't hoist the trophy at games end.

I thought the defenses were pretty dominant, yes. But I just wasn't impressed with the rest of the game. If you're supposed to be great teams, you find a way to beat those defenses. JMHO

That being said, either one of those looked like they could win it all based on defense alone. I'd love to see one of those defenses against Stanford or Okla. St., though. THAT would be entertaining, IMO.
