Dropping the Browns and going to the Steelers or Ravens tells me you are weak. I wouldn't ask you for help if I was stranded in the middle of the desert and you passed me by.

Just like all those morons who were born and raised in NE Ohio but root for the Steelers. Nobody thinks you're cool, we all just think you aren't tough and are just looking for the easy way out.

If a little girl is looking for a team to call her own, the easiest thing to do is to root for a team who is currently winning. That puts her on top with no emotional investment.

So don't be so hard on her. After all, how would you like to be the little girl who's mama named her Joe?

While I always experience the conflict of whether or not to "root against" our rivals ... I really wish I could see the reaction from Pittsburgh and the 'almighty' Steelers nation after a 3 win season.

Obviously it wouldn't be fair because they just aren't used to it so the outcry would be understandable - god knows we have fans who cry for regime changes before the bye week in a new coach's career ....

But I really hope that in the near future I am able to see how many terrible towels get tucked away in sock drawers and how many "FANS" of the Black and Canary Yellow (not gold - that's Notre Dame and the Saints) just stop watching, showing up, or even call for the heads of those in charge.

I'm not being an ignorant homer or talking smack. I really want to know how many of those fans would jump ship at the first sign of trouble - or at least who would stop faithfully following thier team because of more L's than W's

I lived in PA for a stretch that saw me watch 3 Superbowls there, 04-06

I knew a bunch of Steeler fans, got ribbed, all the good stuff...

Suddenly, in February of 05, there was ALOT more Black and Yellow walking around, almost as if people went out and bought Steelers gear RIGHT AFTER they won the SB...

Then the 8-8 2006 season followed, and all that Black and Yellow gear slowly faded out...

As I wore my Browns hoodie pretty much every day the entire time. (summer months was a challenge )

I'm not saying there isn't diehard Steelers fans, as there obviously are, but like the Lakers and the Cowboys, there just seems to be MORE of them when they win...

My 40 plus years as a Browns fan are over. My number one team is the Baltimore Ravens. The team that we should be watching right now. They play tough and physical and draft well. Instead of hoping the Browns meet that criteria I will root for a team that already meets those standards.

The Ratbirds just got beat by the Seahawks....And the Browns beat the Seahawks..And I can't tell you what will happen in the Browns/ Raven games...

All I'm saying is...Give the Browns another 40 years...Cause I know...you jumping ship...didn't feel all that good today...

I think I'm going to become a Colts fan....

They already have Manning. They're about to draft Andrew Luck. Guaranteed excellent QB play for the next 10-15 years.

Their fans don't bug me. I have no strong feelings one way or the other with their team or others in their division.

They're already closer to me than Cleveland.

Hell I'd get to watch games in person in Nov/Dec/(dare I even say Jan) when it's 70 degrees inside.

Factory of sadness indeed. I'll see ya Sunday!

Please become a Colts fan. I can honestly say I would not miss you at all. Hell it would be the one positive from this season.

Anyone else feel like leaving, peace.

I think that was a joke. I could be wrong ... but the last line would seem to indicate that.

If the Browns disappeared for some reason, there are still several teams I could never, ever be a fan of.

Baltimore: Carpetbaggers
Steelers: Self Explanatory
Bengals: Ditto
Tennessee: Carpetbaggers
Indy: Carpetbaggers
Oakland: Carpetbaggers
Arizona: Carpetbaggers
St Louis: Carpetbaggers

It just amazes me how many cities had their teams stolen from them, only to turn around and feel good about themselves while stealing another city's team.

maybe we can have him rotate as the 'other' AFC North teams fan so that they can lose to teams the Browns have already beat

I know I am in the minority here but i honestly like watching the style of football that Baltimore puts out . That isn't to say I am a fan but the hatred of the Steelers just doesn't apply to the Ravens for me , hell, I can even work up a healthy dislike for the Bengals . Browns (pride?) runs deep in my blood so I am stuck for better or worse ....please ,please let there someday be a better.

I agree with you.

I don't hate Baltimore the way I hate Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.

I'm over the whole, "They are the old Browns!" thing.

If anyone but the Browns is going to win the division, I'd prefer it to be Baltimore.

I love watching them play. I wish we could put a team on the field like that.

With that said, screw Baltimore

It's going to take Lewis and Suggs retiring or switching teams for me to get to that point.

I still hate Pitt the most, but Baltimore is in their neighborhood. It helps that Mason is gone.

Once Lewis reitres (if he ever does) That team will be almost completely different...

I don't care how good Ngata and Suggs are, Lewis is that team...

I'm just the opposite. I at least have some respect for the Steelers, finishing behind the Bengals is just embarrassing, but the Ravens... I can't stand them. I would root against them if they played Iran.

I'm sincerely curious...

What's wrong with Mason?

I see your point. But I hate the Steelers, because let's face it, we should be envious of the Steelers. Hate who you're jealous of lol.

Living an hour from Cincy, I have to listen to these Bengal "fans" that come out of the closet once every 7-8 years, so I hate them.

Baltimore is the lesser of 3 evils for me.

Don't have many Cincy fans up here, but there is a lot of Ohio Born Steeler fans in the Akron area where I work. Not to mention just about every 20 something person I see when I go out are sporting Steeler gear. At my work I have 2 Browns fans, 9 Steeler fans (only 2 were born in or have ties to Pennsylvania), 3 Dolphins fans, 4 Cowboys fans, a Patriots fan, a Saints fan (who rooted for Cleveland before the Saints won the SB), a Colts fan and a Jets fan. And this is Akron, Ohio. They all get mad at me when I call this city the bandwagoning capital of the world.

Even for other sports there is a lot of Bulls, Lakers and Celtics fans here. As well as a lot of Yankee & Red Sox fans.

Oh but the majority of them are Ohio State fans. The only team in the area that has been constantly good for a long time they root for, go figure.

And of course I have to hear about how crappy my teams are and it's the reason why they don't root for Cleveland and blah, blah, blah, gloat, gloat, gloat.

Mason was always one of those sneering, condescending players like Hines Ward. I always felt like he was laughing at the Browns and the fans. Don't like him at all.

The way I look at it, there are 3 types of Ravens fans... those who are older and used to root for the Colts and never really found another team, I'm cool with those. Young kids who grew up with the Ravens since they moved there, I'm cool with those... it's the other 80% who used to like somebody else then switched to the Ravens when they got good that bother me. It is their hypocrisy in how they hate the Irsay's the way we hate Modell but they don't see them as similar at all.... Irsay was a snake in their eyes, Modell was just a businessman..

And I lived less than an hour from Baltimore during and for 11 years after the move... Fortunately I was more in Redskin country than Raven country but they were still annoying.

I've never wanted to punch a bunch of old people in the face as much as ESPNs 30 for 30 "The Band That Never Died" made me want to...

Agreed.

And more to FreeAgent's post - I find it hard to get upset that their are so many Steelers fans around; really, why shouldn't their be? They're good - we stink. They've been good for the better part of four decades - we've stunk for the better part of four decades. My brother as an example is 20 - the Browns pre-move meant nothing to him and they've been a garbage fire of ineptitude since then... he likes the Browns but they're nowhere near as significant to him as they are to me.

We're Browns fans. We're cursed to be because it's so ingrained in us - but I fault no one for rooting for someone else around here.
