The Albert Haynesworth experiment in New England lasted just a half-season.

The defensive lineman was released by the Patriots on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald.

Haynesworth was involved in a bit of a shouting match on the Patriots' sideline Sunday with defensive line coach Pepper Johnson. Defensive captain Jerod Mayo also got involved, as did head coach Bill Belichick. On Monday, Belichick said he keeps all conversations private, while adding that Haynesworth's lack of playing time in the second half was based solely on the rotation of the linemen.

The Patriots sent a fifth-round draft pick to Washington in exchange for Haynesworth this past summer.

Haynesworth was making just $1.5 million this season but was due nearly $7 million next season.

That would be anyone's first guess, but they are already rotating guys through at a regular clip. Isn't that the reason why Big Al through his hissy-fit this weekend?

Just another player who never reached his full potential.

Wonder if Ocho Cinco is next?

Belichick has a recent history of taking broken players and making them productive for a while. Looks as if even he couldn't make Haynesworth man up.

Who was it on here that was yelling and screaming about how dumb the browns management was for not grabbing him?

Signed by the Bucs. They could have let him clear and sign him for the league minimum. I guess with McCoy out, they really needed a DT.
