Time for my favorite highlight vid. The "Boom" at 1:06 is awesome, as is Braylon pouting on the bench.

I've watched OSU 4-5 times this year and honestly, if Michigan can't beat this mediocre team, I'll be pretty surprised. Michigan has a better defense, a better offense and a better coach.

Mattison completely shut down Martinez, so I can't imagine he'll have any problems scheming for Miller (who is even worse with the forward pass). Unless the OSU defense can come up with 3-4 turnovers, I can't imagine OSU will be able to score more than 10-14 points, which I just really don't see their defense being able to hold UM to.

Anything can happen obviously but Michigan is a superior team. They should win this game. Will they? We'll see.....

A man dressed in Scarlet and Gray walks into an Ann Arbor sports bar
with a small dog under his arm. He says to the bartender. "Hey, can I leave
my dog here while I go to the OSU - U of M game?"

"A dog in my bar? No way."

"But he's a special dog," the OSU fan says.

"In what way?" The bartender asks.

"Well," says the Buckeye, "he will watch the game on TV with you. When OSU scores, he will walk up and down the bar on his hind legs. When Michigan scores, he will walk up and down the bar on his front legs. When Ohio State wins, he will do back flips all the way down the bar and
back."

"Wow," the bartender says. "What does he do when Michigan wins?"

"I don't know" says the Buckeye. "He's only seven years old."

Michigan week already? I saw a guy at the grocery store today wearing a Michigan shirt here in Florida so I gave him a "Go Buckeyes". Good times. Also, last night at a bar, the band played "Hang On Sloopy" and a couple of girls were doing the O-H-I-O thing. I asked if they were from Ohio, but they said they were from Michigan. Looks like we're rubbing off on them.

@ jfanent - Brandon Joe had a great game (along with a few other undergrads ).

We have a great chance, particularly if we don't spot them a lead like we have in a few games this year. Despite the losses I really like where this team is going. Braxton is special and the other youth on this team has gotten important playing team. I especially like where I expect our defense to be next year.

Am I missing something with Miller? Or just being too hard on him?

He has some pretty good running ability but his passing numbers are just awful. I get that he's young but he looks like nothing more than an athlete trying to play QB. Haven't seen much improvement throwing from game 1 to game 11.

Maybe he'll improve as he gets older but his field vision is poor and most of the passes he does complete, are done on broken plays. Of the 4+ games I've watched, I can count the number of times (on one hand), that he completed a pass to a WR coming out of his break.

That would be my biggest concern as an OSU fan: QB depth / play. Who else is even on the roster? Or coming in?

With a complete staff turnover likely, it's going to be tough to win without a Big Ten level QB IMO. A spread option system would be good for Miller, it will just be interesting to see how OSU transitions in to a run heavy read option attack. A lot of the very good pro style players the state of Ohio produces (TE's, pro style RB's, OL, etc.) may look elsewhere.

Ohio State is in an interesting place as a program. I think they'll avoid the big down turn but they're certainly walking a fine line with a 3rd coach in 2 years, no depth at QB and NCAA sanctions looming. Recruiting is off to a pretty slow start as well. OSU only has (5) 4-Star commits and their highest ranked recruit, Brionte Dunn looks like he may flip his commitment to Michigan. That would give Michigan 4 of the top 6 players in Ohio this year. Hoke an Co. have been hammering Ohio, something Rodriguez seemed to avoid during his tenure.

Maybe Meyer or someone like him helps steady the ship but Michigan is on the verge of a possible BCS game this year, has the #2 recruiting class in 2012 and what looks to be one of the best DC's in college football. Buckeyes certainly aren't going to enjoy the free buffet like they did through the Rich Rod debacle.

How do all the Buckeye fans feel moving forward? I'm just curious as to how you see the program a year or two out.

He's going to be ok, he's not Andrew Luck, but I think Meyer can turn him into a good QB that can survive the B10.

As far as Michigan and their recruiting class, enjoy it now, because Urban Meyer will own any recruiting battle from here on out (assuming he takes the job)

How is Michigan going to get a BCS game? MSU probably gets one win or lose, and I would assume PSU/WIS gets the other.

P.S. Ohio State in one of the worst years in a very very long time, has as many wins over BCS ranked opponents as Michigan does (1)

As far as Braxton? he is horrible at QB right now...we all know that...but we are still positive on him cuz he seems to have the potential. He is no Troy Smith, but the tools are there to be good QB for sure....a lot will depend on who the next coach is and what system will be in place. He was playing with almost ALL underclass at WR and RB start of the year....no way in hell you can put a conclusion on him now...

PS- I think he means that if Michigan wins out then they might be the 2nd team in the big ten picked over MSU(most likely) with Wisky or PSU gettin the win over the legends winner. It's POSSIBLE...but MI in BSC game is a long shot right now.

I'm not saying he's not going to recruit well... But it's not like he's going to get all those fast kids from the south to come play at OSU just because he used to coach at Florida.

I'm not banking on that, I'm saying he's going to lock back down the state of Ohio, he's probably going to lock down a lot of PSU kids with Joe Pa gone and that program/school a mess, and he's probably going to get some kids from the south to come and play.

I expect him to dominate recruiting.

I'm still of the opinion that It's way to "convinient" for Meyers Health problems to pop up after Tebow graduated, and now that theres an opening at OSU he's all fine and dandy to be coaching again...

Hey, 6-5 is 6-5. 9-2 is 9-2. Two of OSU's losses were to teams Michigan absolutely smoked. The above is more of a dig at the conference than it is a dig at Michigan. It's not a great year overall for the Big10 and the teams that are ranked (PSU, UW), missed Michigan on the schedule.

In terms of recruiting, we'll see. Meyer called Mattison the best recruiter in the country, so I'll be interested to see how he does going against him.

He (Meyer) is also known as a guy who hates the recruiting process. Many have noted he just blindly offers the top ranked kids from recruiting lists and takes who he can. He's not known as someone who does player evaluations and differentiates between recruits. I think that's caught up with Florida.

He also hasn't stayed anywhere very long. Look at how completely average of a condition he left that Florida program in. He won with Zook's players, posted a (7-5) record last year with his first full recruiting class (bailed) and Florida looks pretty average this year again (6-5) overall and (3-5) in the SEC.

He also had what, 31 player arrests at Florida? Given how loose of a ship OSU seemed to be running under Tressell, that at least has to be a concern.

I think they could do worse than Meyer but thinking he's a cure all is going out on a limb IMO. I don't think he'll be a failure but there's a lot more risk / reward with him.

Do they plan on retaining Heacock? He would seem to be the key guy in all this from afar. I think he's an absolute stud coordinator, so I'd be curious to see if Meyer keeps in or brings in "his guy".

From what it appears, no, the staff is going to be all new, although I still don't fully buy this story (I buy that he's coming, but I don't buy that it's done and I certainly don't buy Herbstreit coming as an assistant)

....E-D-O!

Go Rockets!

(Man, still burns my ass we didn't close OSU out earlier in the season. We had you beat. Ugh! Oh well, I'll still take 1-1 against OSU and Michigan the last time we visited each team in their house even though it SHOULD be 2-0.)

As a Toledo alum, I can't stand either team. Since I'm from Ohio, I root for the Buckeye's when they play UM. I think this game will really be a barometer as to how much OSU owns UM (just like how Pitts owns us). This is the ideal chance to flip the tables. It may only be one year or it might setup a streak for them....but this is the game for them to win. We'll see how much the OSU really owns UM.

If UM loses....ugh, talk about a kick to the teeth. Heck, make that a curb stomp.

Michigan is a 7.5 point favorite if anyone is interested.

Also, I'm thinking about taking Ohio State.

What have you seen from OSU that would lead you to want to bet money on them?

OSU's defense the last 3 games:

Indiana -- 20 points, 333 yards, 160 yards rushing
Purdue - 26 poitns, 363 yards, 129 yards rushing
Penn State - 20 points, 327 yards, 239 yards rushing

Those offenses rank #7 (PU), #10 (IU) and #11 (PSU) in the big ten in scoring.
Those offenses rank #8 (PU), #9 (IU) and #10 (PSU) in the big ten in total offense.
Those offenses rank #8 (PU), #9 (IU) and #7 (PSU) in the big ten in rushing offense.

Michigan has the #2 scoring offense (33.6 PPG), the #3 total offense (421.2 YPG) and the #2 rushing offense (231.9 YPG).

OSU is (3-3) ATS this season on the road.

Michigan is (6-1) ATS at home this season.

The better bet in this game is probably the under (45). The under is 8-2 in the last 10 games that Ohio State was the underdog, and it’s also 6-1 in the Wolverines last seven game versus a team with a winning record (4-1 in their last five Big Ten games overall).

Just my two betting cents.

28-14 Michigan seems more likely (as an under win) than something like 28-20, which OSU would need to cover the 8.5 spread.

Obviously anything can happen but this seems like a pretty volatile game. Michigan could win by 3 scores or they could make a bunch of mistakes and let OSU hang around. Typically those aren't the best games to bet. You don't want to count on a superior team playing bad to have a chance at winning a bet.

It's always a no win situation for me. I'm a bucks fan - wife is a HUGE michigan fan.

If OSU were to win - it would be an ugly, spite filled Saturday on her part. If michigan wins - it will be an ugly, gloating Saturday on her part.

I was actually thinking about what I did this afternoon ...... and I had insulated a short run of my hot water pipes to the kitchen last week, and it makes a huge difference in how fast I get hot water to the kitchen faucet ........ so I did the rest this afternoon.

That's right ..... I spent an hour or so wrapping my pipes .......
