I was off work today and sitting at home. During this time I was flipping through my favorite channels and happened to stop on The Documentary Channel, where they were showing this movie entitled Burzynski.

The movie is about this doctor out of Texas, Stanislaw Burzynski, who was in a lengthy battle with the state medical board, and eventually the fda regarding his alternative treatment for cancer patients.

I had never hear of him or this treatment previously, but they were showing several people who actually claimed to have been cured after undergoing his treatment.

They had both adults and children who had been diagnosed with severe cases of cancer--and then, after some years of treatment, they were cured...

It goes on to talk about how his practices were demonized by the state which was in the pocket of large drug companies who make millions selling chemotherapy drugs.....

It sparked my interest a little bit and I took up a search online where I found a lot of popular sites like wikipedia and yahoo treating him as a quack and a fraud...

But also there were individuals who vehemently defend his practices, and ex-patients who claim that they owe him and his medicine their lives....

Anyone on here see this....or have any ideas about this positive or negative....

It seems kinda hard to get to the bottom here....

Why would ex-patients come out with these reports of miraculous cures?

Why would so many mainstream sources attempt to discredit a doctor who has a promising way of dealing with cancer?

Theres no money in a cure...

The money is in the medicine you need to sustain your life with whatever it is you have...

If you're cured, you don't need to spend money anymore...

I'd hardly call it 'promising'.

Burzynski's treatments have never shown any signs of statistical efficacy.

I think the government can get too far reaching with it's 'bans' on alternative medicines, but I certainly don't think Burzynski's methods should be sanctioned or taken seriously by governing bodies.

Just curious then....wht is up with the people making claims that he cured them--or their children?1/

Are they all just making stuff up, is it just some kind of coincidence...

It could be a number of things. Maybe it's coincidence. Maybe he actually did cure them.

But until there's some proof of statistical efficacy, I don't think that it should be taken seriously.
