Oh please!

There is no comparison between McCoy and Rodgers.

Hell, look at Roethlisberger. His OL sucks big time. They are absolutely horrible, and in fact, might be the worst in the NFL.

They still make plays and win games.

McCoy is one of the worst starting QBs in the NFL, line, receivers, or any other factors aside. His weaknesses will not be corrected by having perfect units on offense. It's time to move on.

Baffled as to why so many do so.

You want a valid comparison?

Got any more brilliant questions?

What because I do not agree with the assesment of all the kneejerk reactions to the yearly beatdown our 11-14 ? How many is it now? Qb's this team has had?
When is someone gonna blame the bad QB's on a line or o-line coach that is not doing their job?

So beacuse I do not agree with the witchunt concensus, I did not watch the game all the sudden?

OK

He had time. he threw turds. he stat whored at the end.

We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

Matt Moore is playing far better than McCoy is.

Completing 62% of his passes, he throws the ball down the field, He creates big plays. I'd take Moore over McCoy any day.

Matt Moore has 244 pass attempts, and has 28 pass plays of 20+ yards, and 3 of 40+.

Colt McCoy, not counting tonight. had 428 pass attempts, completes 57.7% of his passes, (that will go down) and has 23 pass plays of 20+ yards, and 5 of 40+.

I would take Moore all day long, although I would still be looking for a new QB with either.

He also has Brandon Marshall.

I still think it's the valid comparison if you're looking to compare McCoy to another NFL starter.

They are 10-3. They are doing something right. They have scored almost 100 points more than us on the season. (going into tonight's game)

Roethlisberger's line is getting him killed. Personally I won't care if someone disconnects his head from his shoulders ...... but his line is one of the worst I have ever seen, and he still makes plays.

Our guys doesn't.

Come on now.
Our receivers are not the issue according to many. They are wide open all the time. And catch everything. And fight for those iffy throws that Colt has to throw off his back foot because the pocket is collapsing in his face.
This is assuming he is not flushed from the pocket and has to make something happen with a corps of receivers who do not know how to come back on a hot. ( I did see Cribbs do it once today )
But the O-line played great. Due to all those huge holes they open up in the run game.
Ya know? Just to keep opposing D's honest.

Let's face it.

Colt is like the little brother playing backyard football at QB.

This isn't working. Simple as that.

How big an impact is Marshall having on the Dolphins offense?

He actually had his biggest game of the year with Henne at QB.

Not really, but that was amusing.

I have written about the flaws I see in McCoy's game that have nothing to do with stats. Things like really awful footwork, ball placement, accuracy, ability to make throws to the outside, and so on.

When you compare 2 QBs, their production (stats) does enter into the equation.

910 yards thus far.

In a Daboll offense.

I know that you're under the delusion that Daboll is 'doing well' in Miami, but he's an awful OC, and the Dolphins offense is pretty bad.

If Colt, as bad as he has been, had Marshall, he would look much better.

That's a load of crap that all of the apologists throw out. Nobody's ignoring the other problems on the team. Tonight, the excuses don't fly. He had time to throw and he had open receivers. He had the game handed to him on a silver platter and instead of taking advantage he made horrible throws. Colt is stinking up the place and it's obvious. He can't read a defense to save his life and runs into sacks. He holds on to the ball too long and most of his 20+ passes are short. He really had no excuses tonight.

His receivers do come back for the ball, and usually pay a steep price for it. Actually, that's the only pass Colt seems to make with any consistency. Most of his other passes are late, short or behind the receiver. That INT in the endzone was a perfect example. Momass had a jump on the guy, Colt held on too long and then threw it short. That completion would probably have been the ball game.

And he's been between 1000-1300 yards in each of his last 4 seasons. he was with the Dolphins last year and they were a 7-9 team. This year they have somehow scored 26 more points than they have allowed so far, yet they sit at 4-8. That's a weird team.

I didn't get to listen to a lot of the game, but I'm willing to bet McCoy was still looking out of the earhole of his helmet on that last interception. If the hit was as bad as they were making it out to be on the radio, I was surprised to see Colt get back out there. I question the decision to throw him back out there.

He did look woozy after the hit. I can't believe they brought him right back in after that pretty pass by Wallace.

I watched tonight's game from work. I saw no viable excuse for what McCoy did tonight. I saw him do what he's done all year without apparently being able to learn from the mistake, which is to make that one stupid, idiotic, inexcusable throw at a most crucial point in the contest.

Barring the light suddenly coming on over these last few games.....I've seen enough. He's an undersized, under-tooled QB who isn't special in the ways required to overcome the things he lacks.

Here ya go, Daman, this one is for you, buddy:

I've given up on McCoy.

I see no reason to bench him, as we still gotta march him out there to see if we can catch lightning in a bottle, but I'm ready for a new starter next season. I'm not sold on any of these college QB's outside of Luck, so give me a Campbell or an Orton or even a Matt Moore and let him "compete" with McCoy for the starters gig, even though it won't really be a competition. Fill the other needs with the two 1st round picks and soldier on with the rebuild.

Nice job of throwing your weight around with this kid, Walrus. You failed. Don't screw the decision up...

Agreed.

Colt has guts and heart for days - but he's got no arm and makes horrendous decisions on a good day. To throw him back out there immediately after getting rocked is on the coaches.

It's not 'weird'.

The defense is playing worse. Last year, they had twice the forced fumbles, and four times the fumble recoveries.

You're a bright dude, but you need to face the fact that Daboll sucks. He's an awful OC. He's more likely than not going to get fired at the end of the year.

The only reason you're clinging so hard to this argument is because you didn't like the fact that Mangini got fired.

I agree with you that Colt sucks. But you need to let the Mangini regime go.

Are you hinting that there would be controversy?

I doubt it since nobody really believes in either of these guys (myself included). I just would've liked to have seen a win in Pittsburgh and Wallace seemed like the most capable man for the job at the moment.

I think this whole season (off-season, practice, preseason, 16 regular season games) is dedicated to seeing if Colt McCoy is the QB going forward. Putting him in the game in that situation helps give us a clearer picture of who he is.

1st off ..... Marshall is on pace for his average year.

As far as the reat ....... What?

Their defense is allowing fewer points than it did last year. They are scoring more than they did last year. Somehow their record is worse.

That's it. It was just a comment on a weird situation ... nothing more.

Maybe you need to let go of the Mangini regime.

There is no way I would bring in a Campbell, or Orton, or any other crappy QB to "compete" with McCoy.

What's the point. If you have 2 crappy QBs competing, no matter who wins, you still have crap.

We need to go find a guy in this draft, and give him the team. If he proves that he can't win, then we replace him in a couple of years as well. We need to find THE QB for this team. Crappy QBs give up crappy results, and replacing one crappy QB with another accomplishes nothing more than shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic would.

You are far too hung up on the marginal point difference. We can go through the whole debate as to whether they're scoring less than a field goal more or barely more than a field goal more, but I'm kind of tired of it.

Their D is far worse this year.

Their offense is *barely* better.

I was initially agreeing with you in terms of McCoy's inefficiency ... but of course, you have to stick up for Daboll, who you think is 'doing well' (despite his terrible performance) ... and I can't understand why, except for an allegiance to the guy whose senseless and idiotic quote is in your sig.

Last year the Dolphins, in 16 games, scored 273 points. They allowed 333 points. They allowed 60 more points than they scored. Somehow they went 7-9 ..... regardless of how the points were scored.

If they score 27 points in their final 4 games combined, they will score more points than they did all of last year. You can spin things anyway you want ..... but truth is truth is truth. Further truth is that they would have to allow 113 points in their final 4 games to allow more points than they did last year. They play the Eagles, Bills, Patriots, and Jets to close out their year, so I'd have to guess that they will improve their scoring, and will probably allow somewhat fewer than the 28.5 points in each of their final 4 games that it would take for them to be worse n scoring defense this year compared to last.

This year, through 12 games, they have scored 246 points. They have allowed 220. They have scored 26 points more than they have allowed. Despite this disparity ...... despite the trend towards improvement in both points scored, and points allowed ...... they have already lost 8 games through the first 12 of this year, after losing 9 all of last year.

Now I know that to you, points scored have different values based on style points ...... or some other crap. I know that you think that an offense which scores more points is moving in the wrong direction, while an offense like ours, which is now scoring an average of 13.7 points per game, is somehow far better than one scoring 20.5 points per game. That extra TD is worthless in your world ..... because somehow it "just doesn't really count". In my world, scoring more points is a good thing, and stopping the other guy from scoring is also a good thing. I know that it's not the same in your world .... because you have to "justify" the "quality" of your points ..... and whether or not you actually deserve them ...... whether or not they were scored in the right way ....... and so on. To me .... Scoring points is a good thing. Scoring TDs is a good thing. We have scored scored 175 points through our 1st 13 games. The Dolphins have scored 246. In my world, they have scored 71 more points than we have. They have scored 23 TD in 11 games, while we have scored 17 in 12 games. In my world, that makes them significantly better than we are ..... no matter if they still have a receiver that had last year when they scored fewer points or not. I know that it is not the same in your world ...... and that they would have to cut that receiver, and replace him with a blind man, with no hands, confined to a wheelchair, for their increase in scoring to actually "count".

I think that you argue some stuff just to argue it. I don't really have a problem with that ... because I have been known to do the same thing. Just have a point when you do so please ...... because you really don't have one on this matter.

Colt McCoy may have played with concussion

Late in Thursday night’s loss to the Steelers, Browns quarterback Colt McCoy received the latest helmet-to-helmet hit from Steelers linebacker James Harrison.

Two plays later, McCoy returned to the game.

After the Steelers escaped with a 14-3 win, McCoy seemed like a guy who had suffered a concussion. McCoy said he didn’t remember the hit, according to the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram. And Will Burge of ESPN 850 in Cleveland posted on Twitter that the Browns P.R. staff asked reporters to turn off their lights during McCoy’s post-game availability. Light sensitivity is one of the various . . . wait for it . . . concussion-like symptoms.

So why was McCoy back in the game? “He was fine to go back in,” coach Pat Shurmur said, per the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

But who determined McCoy was fine? And what testing was performed to ensure that he hadn’t suffered a concussion or concussion-like symptoms or a concussion-like concussion? (Those aren’t rhetorical questions; we’re going to ask the Browns for an explanation.)

Two weeks ago, the NFL supposedly beefed up in-game monitoring procedures, instructing the “league observer” who attends every game to be on the lookout for “possible undetected injuries.” The fact that McCoy absorbed a helmet to the face and ended up flat on his back should have been enough for the league observer to insist that something more be done to ensure that McCoy truly was fine to play.

I don't know anything about concussions but McCoy seemed like he was down longer than he was out of the game. How long does it take to determine if you've been concussed?

I thought that Shurmur said that it wasn't his head that kept him out of the game, but rather his finger.

I didn't see that part of the game, but it sure sounded like the announcers thought that the problem was his head.

I would hope that they would have a procedure for guys who get hit helmet to helmet. The NFL is so strict on concussions, that I cannot imagine that the browns would send a guy back in if they had any reason at all to suspect that he had a concussion, (especially with Marecic and Watson both leaving the game with suspected concussions) but who knows?
