another weak point of yours is the ability (or lack thereof) to properly use the Quote function on this site..
The point I was trying to make, which clearly went right over your head is, that you were wrong just about everytime you took a stance on a player..
did I mention your stance on Quinn?
yes Donuts, you name that ONE every time. Macdonald was an up and coming player when we had a great DB coach in Mel Tucker. Obviously, the way he and wright played under Tucker yet plummeted under coaching thereafter says something about the merits of Mel Tucker.
I won't say my comment went over your head yet since you one track diatribe veered from the MacDonald subject MY point and you do have a propensity to put YOUR words in others mouths so you have your own straw dog argument to shoot: My point was at one time with top coaching this kid looked like a keeper.
Now since you like to shoot where others stand lets take a novel approach and actually make a stand yourself oh sage one. Ham Sandwich do we keep him or run him off or do the usual Browns front office crap, make him no offer and let him sign elsewhere and get nothing for him then afterward say we made an offer. keep him or dump him?
You see I think Shurmer was playing games with this guy in pre season and hillis reacted in a counter productive manner. I think Hillis is gone and considering what we have left, this stance is INSANE. From Ham sandwich to hero back to Ham. we actually finally get the better end of a trade and then we play game with him and the kid is gone...and cribbs and McCoy as well.
You see I have strong opinions I put out there up front, I guess you were the kid needed to look superior by taking his stands after the fact. Com-on know it all, Hillis, keep him or dump him, or "let him walk" to test the market. Good luck with that approach playing under this rudderless coach.
Try takin a rest from bein a PITA.

IMO Hillis was the one playing games. He had a solid offer and wanted more. Then he turned into a problem child, then got hurt. Blaming the front office at this point for no new contract is stupid.
By the way, McDonald had a few good games and sucked the rest of the time. He sucked at Detroit also. Kid can't tackle, and only covers good sometimes.
By the way, calling someone"Donuts" is still namecalling. Read the rules. It's not a derogatory name, but the intent behind is.

Yes, and so is "Little Joe..." they've had quite the little swordfight going on.

If Mel Tucker is let go I would be all for him coming back. Don't think the front office here would do it but that would be great as I think he would get more out of the guys we have now.

Agree and disagree. BMac looked great his rookie year when he played as a third corner and spot starter. Unfortunately, he got elevated to starting far too quick and wasn't developed enough yet to assume the spot. I think the potential was/is there with BMac but the question is whether he can still be coached to reach that potential or if his bad habits and disgusting lack of tackling skill is now ingrained.

I think he could come here and be a very solid CB, and help us solidify a spot of weakness

Would he? I mean, the dude just got cut from the Lions. I took a look at who the Lions have left at corner...
Chris Houston Alphonso Smith Aaron Berry Eric Wright Don Carey
Apart from Houston and Wright, are any of these guys to be considered even average corners? Hell, THE BROWNS cut Smith at one point. Carey got cut from Jax.
BMac got cut instead of these guys. Makes me wonder if he has hit ceiling. Although more athletic and likely to be able to provide closer coverage than a Sheldon Brown, I'll take Brown getting beat and making a tackle than BMac getting beat, not making the tackle and turning a 20 yd pass into a 80 yd TD.
BMac over Dmitri Patterson...nope. Patterson isn't a world beater but he's a solid number 3 corner.
BMac over Dockery or Skrine...nope. I let the younger guys develop. Both of these guys have shown flashes of ability.
In short, no to BMac. He HAD potential but I think his day is past.

I didn't realize how many ex-Browns were Detroit DB's. Sort of like the Broncos DL a few years ago.

Why would the Browns want him back? These guys are released for a reason from here and then if they get cut from their new team, why does it seem like they could come back and do...WHAT THEY DID BEFORE???

I was for bringing McDonald in as insurance to allow Skrine on the field more with Patterson out there all the time. I forgot about Dockery. Probably too much inexperience on the field all at once to have Skrine and Dockery out there at the same time... and heck, Haden is still not two full seasons in.

try a mirror for that comment. Macdonald was a good corner when melt Tucker was DB coach here. he had both Bmac and Wright playing well. when he went both played at a much lower level. why don't you try the novel position of actually having one instead of your pithy monday morning QB. before the season I was shocked the front office stood pat at oline, wr,rb, and secondary and what pieces they added were zip. I remarked how premature to shove a top blocking fb out the door and hand the spot to a rookie. seems all those positions I took are one the book. seems you argued the reflexive opposite on each. Of course you did.
And you made your each and every commentary personal and now you say I have no point and need to get personal. what a joke.

You think he wants to work for a coach he is superior to in every way. Tucker obviously teaches. he and Rob Chudzinski, Rob Ryan, and brad seely were my favorite assistant coaches ever on this team( since the return). Shurmer has show zip as a leader or as a HC.

check the mirror. why not just reply to the content of what is said next time. try the novel approach not to get personal. stick to a point. try making one of your own. Do we keep hillis or trash him and let him walk when he is by far our best RB and the first trade in FOREVER we got the better end. Go out on a limb instead of your Monday morning QB rants.

TO bring this back to football...
Yes, we bring Hillis back so long as his salary request is not outrageous. The Browns have had too many one-season wonders at RB and after the year he's had, Hillis' market isn;t going to be THAT great.
Of course, we are in a Brandon McDonald thread so this is kinda confusing...
I'll know let you guys continue to bicker like an old married couple. Its cute really....

excellent Coaching like mel tucker's can do that. I was blessed to speak with former DB ben Davis with the browns from 1967-1973. ben, a very late Pick had never played DB but was a basketball star and coach blanton Collier taught him to cover like in basketball. Showed him techniques and he was a very solid corner till he blew out a knee(devastating in the early 1970s).
BMac tacked poorly yet showed some real nice ball skills and a nose for the ball. he just was never developed and developed bad habits and that was it. This team has had poor coaching for so long. we draft poorly and rarely ever developed our talent beyond the skills they brought in.

No one expect You to listen to anyone but the mirror. That post was for the FANS of the Browns. Older who may appreciate new information from an actual player yet I agree It is a RUMOR from Player to me to the board( I should not have posted his name, that was my screw up. Sorry Ben) and you as reflexive as always with the dismissive comment: How tiresome.
