Hey guys more of a lurker than poster, but really need some prayer. My dad has been in and out of the hospital the last year. Diagnosed with diabetes, had two of his mechanical valves replaced in his heart, was bleeding on a few occasions they couldn't figure out where( finally found it was an ulcer on his intestine with with an artery running through it. Had been put on a feeding tube and trach this last visit to ghe hospital. (His wife my stepmom also left when he started having problems). It started to look better though we had moved him from a hospital in pittsburgh to a rehabilitive hospital in erie. Well about a week ago they transferred him to a hospital up there his kidneys weren't functioning right and they put him on dialysis.

I got a call a couple days ago the doctors wanted to meet with my sisters, grandparents and me. We went up they had called in palliative care(comfort care). The doctor told us he basically he's got so much going wrong(that morning he started bleeding internally where feeding tube was, so they had to stop his kumodine which heneeds with his heart valves) that it will take a miracle. He said my dad is the worst off he has seen somebody still living than he has in a long time. He has 5 or 6I doctors all working his case.

Then to top it off my grandmother called today saying his liver has started to quit working. Sorry if there is a lot of rambling hard to read. I needed to tell/vent some to somebody. Im trying to be the strong one for my family. But its just not fair he is only 54 and he has been through so much the least year year and a half. And to make things harder I have had to have two surgeries for my ruptured appendix just not sure how much I can handle.

Once again sorry to ramble on just needed to let it all out.

I will say a prayer for him, and for you and your family.

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

ado...your father and the family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Don't worry about sounding like your rambling while posting this kind of information because it's something we rarely do and it tends to be emotional on top of everything else.

take care, mac

Thanks everybody. Went up to see him last night he was definitely out of it. But they had upped his pain meds his nurse said. Also now they are having trouble keeping his b.p. and body temp up. I'm really thinking he is just to tired to keep fighting. My sister is planning to take my stepmom up to see him this week because before he got put back in I.c.u he had asked about her. Im sorta afraud that's what he is holding on for to see/hear her one last time (they were together 22yrs). I really do appreciate everyones prayers though thank you guys.

Thank you everyone. My family and I made the hardest decision I have had to make yet. We took my dad off all the machines about 2p.m this afternoon and he passed about an hour later. The doctors said even if he improved he would never be off the ventilator/trake and feeding tube which he had told us he didn't want.

R.I.P Dad I love you and I know your not in pain anymore.

Went through a similar situation 2 years ago with my father. My prayers are with you and your family.

Best wishes to you and yours in this time of sorrow.

Sounds like you had a wonderful relationship with your dad. Mines been gone
20 years and trust me when I say he will always be there with you.

Take care.
