So take out "old buddy's" and "nephew" and then and only then does the comment say what you state it does. You just can't ignore words in a sentence to read around them or leave them in stating that they mean nothing. Really, I don't give a crap one way or another. I took the whole post as yet another knee-jerk, emotional post that made no sense. This board is 85% that kind of posts. I made a comment because for those who don't know Fritz Shurmur died over 10 years ago the statement could have made sense. As though it were a favor to his old buddy. Then you go on to explain that what was said is not what was said if only you remove a couple of words from the statement. I'm giving it up as I've already put way more time into it than it deserves. As is frivolously making any stupid remark, be it true or not or make sense or not.

I don't care, either. I just find it amusing that people such as yourself will extract meaning out of something that fits what you want it to fit. I didn't ignore a single word; perhaps you'd care to tell me which words you believe I did. Maybe you missed it where I said: Quote:
That head coach is the nephew of an old friend (and former assistant coach...a connection I make by my own knowledge, not from this statement) of Mike Holmgren's.

I already did that and your previous explanation already showed that as well.
But this was never about you. Your only mistake was stepping in to try to explain things for the original poster.
Like I said, I'm done with it.

"The second comment about "letting him be the OC" is just plain wrong. "
One of us has lost control of the English Language.I would have bet the farm that Shurmur was both HC and the OC with playcalling duties. Therefore he was allowed both, which would make that statement just plain right. This BS about the right guy not being available, but we'll hire someone this offseason. What if that one and only omnipresent person fails to materialize again?do we wait another year,or just hire some schmoe? The guy wasn't very good at either job,but I didn't see anything that would lead me to believe he won't become a decent,or even better coach someday. If given the opportunity.
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem

In fairness, Holmgren was the one that originally brought up Fritz Shurmur, their relationship, an dthe fact that this was how he knew Pat Shurmur.
In all fairness, if he hadn't, the press would have been all over it.,
I have no doubt that knowing Pat for all these years and him being the nephew of Mikes friend didn't hurt..
But you all would have to think that Mike Holmgren is an idiot to hire someone only because he's related to a friend..
Is that what people really think.. that holmgren is a complete idiot?
No one said COMPLETE IDIOT, yet this Idiot he hired did a MUCH WORSE job that Mangini and staff would have. Mangini, with all his QBs injured, with less talent and a much more brutal schedule had the Browns competitive every week last year against top talent(save the last game when it was no secret the entire staff was history.) Mikey made a hash of his decision to Hire Shurmur and will go down with him due to his stubborn insistence on the merits of this hire. That is like tying an anchor to yourself as you are drowning.
Yet with as horrid this decision has been Mikey gets to bleed credibility defending the indefensible to the press as Shurmy makes new boob decisions weekly. It will be an ugly divorce.
