Just goes to show you, if you wait long enough, everybody else will make up your mind for you. So we don't have to worry about the Trey, Luck, Kolb, Manning. Whittling it down nicely.

Wow ..... no offense to these 2 teams, but ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKIN MINDS???????

Peyton Manning just went through major surgery on his neck. He's 35, and will be 36 in right around a week. This is not the kind of guy ..... and I don't care how good he's been in his career ... he's still not the kind of guy you give a 5 year/$90 million deal to.

Now these deals might be structured in such a way that the likelihood of reaching that number is unlikely ...... and maybe there aren't enormous guarantees .... but I bet there are significant guarantees. To bet guaranteed money on a 36 yeam old QB coming off major inury and sucgery is insane in my opinion.

Anyway ....

Eye On Football - CBSSports.com Report: Broncos, Titans offering Peyton Manning 5 years/$90 mil
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on...g-5-years60-mil

As the Broncos watch Peyton Manning work out at Duke's campus today, they'll have some financial incentives to discuss with him. As the Denver Post reports, the Broncos will offer (or have offered) a five-year deal worth about (60-deleted) $90 million.

Apparently, that's also about what the Titans have offered as well.

"We're still in it," a Broncos source told the paper. "We don't know. We'll know more over the weekend."

One advantage for Broncos is that they have about $15 million more room under the salary cap than does Tennessee.

Obviously, we still don't know which way Manning is leaning, because it's been reported Tennessee will get the chance to watch Manning work out as well.

But one thing we know for sure: the Broncos pursuit of Manning has played out all over national TV and Twitter, and it's not likely to end soon.

Didn't we have a shot at getting him before and not take it? I am not a fan of getting stop gaps but as far as that goes,, he might be what McCoy needs to learn from.. Just thinking outside the box a little..

Yes he was a FA last year, but we made no play for him then, but I wished that we would have done so.

How is this for thinking outside the box.....
Yes it's true that he would only be a stop gap (but so to was signing Delhomme), but he would allow others on the offense to reach their potential and we could better see just what we have or don't have at other positions.

Also he could be a good mentor for Colt or another youngster who we might draft this year.

If Manning signs with Denver and they get rid of Tebow,Tebowing and Tebowmania, would Manning then be considered the antichrist?

Manning to quarterback Broncos barring “unexpected snag”
Posted by Evan Silva on March 19, 2012, 12:03 PM EDT
Peyton Manning, John Elway AP

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen are reporting that free agent quarterback Peyton Manning has told his agent, Tom Condon, to open contract negotiations with the Denver Broncos.

And barring an “unexpected snag” in contract talks, Schefter and Mort are reporting that Manning will become the next quarterback of the Broncos.

The Broncos will try to trade Tim Tebow.

Per Schefter, Manning phoned Broncos V.P. of Football Operations John Elway on Monday morning to inform Elway he is “looking forward” to playing in Denver.

The fallout will be felt across the league. Free agent Alex Smith remains in limbo, and the 49ers may have to do some apologizing to bring him back in the fold. The Dolphins may whiff on yet another quarterback target.

Stay tuned for plenty more.

I postponed my errands for the sole purpose of watching Skip Gutless sit in his chair in righteous indignation.

Now he's trying to justify everything that's happening. "I'm happy for Tim Tebow."

I wonder what they feel his value is? And I hope we are not considering it, whatever it is.

He has been saying that he wanted Tebow "freed" since last year. I can't wait to see him freak out when Tebow is out of the league because no one wants him as a backup.

i like and root for Tim. I just don't think he is a quarterback.

Good for Peyton, the Bronc's playoff futures and anyone who owns a store that sells jerseys in Denver. They had a great recent history of seeling Tebow jersey's and now they'll go nuts with Manning jersey's.

Bad for Tebow, the rest of the AFC West and all the Tebowites.

I have to wonder who would be trading for Tebow and thre freak show that goes along with it. Jax has Blaine Gabbert and another FA QB they just signed a few days ago. Miami - since they don't have a QB?

This is great for us. The Dolphins will now probably miss out on Alex Smith. Hopefully they don't trade for Tebow.

Jacksonvillle should be all over this. Not for the fact that Tebow is the answer at QB (he still might be but he still needs a lot of development) but Jacksonville is less than 2 hours from the University of Florida, and for a team that has trouble filling its stadium he would be a cash cow and bring excitement back to the franchise. It's obvious Gabbert is not ready yet. You get Tebow and bring the mania, hype and revenue and you put Gabbert back on the sidelines where he belongs to develop. If Tebow flunks out in a few years maybe your other QB is ready.

But my only question now is if you trade Tebow who else do you have in Denver? Manning hasn't played in over a year, has 4 neck surgeries and may have a lot of rust to work out. If he gets hurt or is generally ineffective you need a decent backup to step in. Who's left?

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

This is a situation that could potentially blow up in the face ofevery part involved

Titans............already has. They had plenty of money and intentions to pursue FAs, but held the money up for Peyton. Now that PM has spurned them they lost out on him and other FAs they coveted such as John Abraham. So instead of improving their team this off season they swung and wiffed and have fewer impact FAs than the Browns this off season...lol.

49ers...........what happens if Smith goes to the Dolphins. Want to explain to your fan base that a team who played in the NFC Championship lost their QB by going after the golden goose?? Alex Smith is no Pro Bowler, but he is very effecient, and good enough to win with. If they start a rookie or Josh Johnson this year they aren't playing in the NFC Championship again.

Dolphins........good grief the media is hammering them right now. Once considered a leader for Peyton they are left with huge amounts of egg on their face and the national media railing them as a team that can't attract big time players/coaches.

Broncos........what if he get's hurt. His health is a legitimate concern, and according to NFL network a condition of him signing there was for them to rid themselves of Tebow (rightfully so). The Denver Post guy also said there is a significant portion of the fan base that is somewhat upset about Tebow being shown the door. So if Peyton can't recover from the neck injury and Elway has to explain to his fan base that he traded away their "hero" for a has been with a bum neck........good luck with that one John.

People talk about us having to fix our relationship with Colt after falling through with the RG3 talks?? Imagine having a playoff QB like the niners and donks had and then having to explain to your fanbase that you got rid of said playoff QB for a guy who could have been a diamond, but turned out to be zirconium. Should be an interesting year.

Right.

They said they'd TRY to trade him.

They need a backup qb regardless.

Who in their right mind (denver fans) would be upset about keeping Tebow as a backup? I mean - it's P. Manning that's taking over. Aside from the patriots and packers, which team wouldn't hand the starters job to manning?

Good move for the Broncos - It's a clean way to end the Tebow nightmare.

Bad for us - if he went to SF it would have freed up Smith to go to Miami.

Jacksonville is Tebow's hometown as well.. You can't discount what he did for the Broncos last season. If I were the Jags, I would definitely look to bring him in.

I said all along that I thought he'd wind up in Denver.

Tebow will probably go to Jacksonville. That move makes too much sense as well.

I thought so as well. No matter what Tebow did, it wasn't going to be enough for Elway. He wanted his pure pocket passer..

+1

NO WAY they keep Tebow. The traveling Tebow circus, the fans chanting for Tebow, a offense tailored for Manning (not Tebow) and this is Peyton's team now.

They have Gabbert + Henne (whom they just signed four days ago). Bringing in Tebow might be a boon for ticket/jersey sales but it will destroy both of those two QBs. I just don't see it.

I'm hoping SF call up Alex Smith and makes nice....leaving Miami without a QB to trade up to #4 for Tannehill.

I would love that to happen, but I don't think they'd have to trade up to get Tannehill. Nobody in front of them are needing a QB.

We may be a target for another player, but Tannehill probably isn't that guy.

I don't see the endgame there? I don't expect them to trade up to 4 to get Tannehill (that seems like a very desparate move) - and nobody thinks Tannehill is actually worth #4 on his own merits - you don't trade up to reach for a guy.

Well, they weren't desperate to sign Flynn, and if they were really pressured they may have done something with Alex Smith. I also don't think they would be that heartbroken if they ended up with another year of Matt Moore. That's a pretty good "fail" plan.

What I think is kind of funny is just how much press this is going to bring. I mean, for the next 3 days (if not more), this is going to be THE headline in the NFL, and, if you think about it, what the heck can they talk about for all that time?

Just amusing to me.

I actually think that Tebow would make a really solid TE ....... plus you could run trick plays off of a TE screen.

Tebow is a quarterback. He might not have the physical attributes to be a successful quarterback, but he is a quarterback.

Just some thoughts about Manning returning after neck surgery.

I have never liked the donks so I can't say I wish Manning the best as their QB. My Cleveland bias hopes the donks never make the playoffs with Manning or any QB.

That said...with all the favorable press and visions of the Manning leading the donks to another Super Bowl...I was trying to recall if any player has been able to achieve what Manning is going to attempt to do...has any Pro player ever returned to play again after spinal neck surgery...keeping in mind Manning has had three surgeries.

First, I drew a blank as I could not recall any player doing what Manning is attempting...then it hit me...Chris Spielman...returned to football with the Browns in 1999 after having neck fusion surgery in 1997...

For those who don't recall what happened, here is a link to the story... web page

Peyton Manning is going to be 36 yrs old in a few days, has been out of football for a year and he has not been hit yet...

I don't know how this will turn out for Manning but I hope he has sense enough "to walk away" if his body gives him any kind of warning sign, such as tingling or numbness.

Will Holmgren bring Tebow to the Browns?
Chasing RG-III was a wash out. Would Tebowmania work as a QB-Plan B in Cleveland?

The Browns have a chance to find out.

Tim Tebow is headed for auction now that the Denver Broncos have secured a commitment from free agent Peyton Manning.

Browns President Mike Holmgren had hoped to electrify the fan base with a trade for the draft rights to Robert Griffin III.

Tebow was never rated as highly as Griffin as a quarterback. Whereas the Browns and Redskins offered the moon for the rights to Griffin at No. 2 overall, Tebow lasted until the No. 25 pick in the 2010 draft.

Yet, Tebow boasts twice the buzz factor as “RG-III.” One telling nugget:

Denver’s playoff victory over Pittsburgh on Jan. 8 drew the highest TV rating for a wild card game in 24 years.

Pittsburgh? Isn’t that the archrival the Browns have knocked off once in once in their last 17 tries. And Tebow did it THIS year? With a team coming off a 4-12 season? In the ... playoffs?

Tebow would be joining a Browns team that hasn’t won a playoff game since 1994.

An obstacle to obtaining him could be bids from teams such as Jacksonville and Miami, in the state where he was a Florida Gators hero.

A drawback would be continuity. If he leaves Denver, he will be with his fourth offensive coordinator in four years, none with the west-coast background of the Cleveland regime.

Yet, Holmgren was so intrigued by Tebow two years ago that he attended his pre-draft workout in Gainesville, Fla.

At the time, Holmgren told The Associated Press:

“Clearly, he's a special young man. You can tell he's trying to make adjustments to his motion. That seems to be what people are fired up about, and he's working very hard to do that, and it showed today."

Holmgren went on:

“Those of us that know the position a little bit and watch the position and have coached the position, you saw it. You saw he's worked hard on changing some of his technique, and I root for him. He's a wonderful young man. I pull for guys like that, and he's going to make some team very happy.”

That was before Tebow went 7-4 as Denver’s 2011 starter, then threw for 316 yards against Pittsburgh in the playoffs.

Holmgren has a history that points to an interest in Tebow. Steve Young was considered a unique talent when he joined the 49ers, whose offensive coordinator was Holmgren.

If Holmgren likes a quarterback, regardless of the critics, his motto has been, “Go get him.” He was with the Packers and Seahawks when they made provocative trades for Brett Favre and Matt Hasselbeck.

For now, the Browns are coming off a 4-12 year in which Colt McCoy struggled at quarterback. If Tebow has issues that must be overcome before he can be viewed as a legitimate starter, certainly McCoy does.

Former McKinley High School quarterback Josh McDaniels was the Denver head coach who traded up to get Tebow at No. 25 overall two years ago.

According to the Denver Post, Tebow is working under a contract worth $9.7 that extends through 2014.

One point that should help the Browns, should they opt to chase Tebow: This isn’t like recruiting a free agent, such as Matt Flynn, who signed a deal with Seattle that runs through 2014.

If the Broncos like Cleveland’s terms, Tebow is bound to come to Cleveland.

The two teams have done business with quarterbacks before. In 2010, the Browns sent the Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn in exchange for running back Peyton Hillis.

What would we do with Colt, make him a backup.

I might trade a 3rd for Tim.

I like how the writer starts off with the assumption that Tebow will be in demand
