According to someone on the OBR, WKNR reports that Daylon McCutcheon has been released. I dont have a radio, can anyone confirm?

Long-time Brown McCutcheon released
Jeff Walcoff, Staff Writer
03.09.2007
The Browns have released long-time cornerback Daylon McCutcheon, the team announced Friday.

One of the two remaining players from the club's inaugural team in 1999, McCutcheon was a '99 third-round pick out of USC.

During his eight-year tenure with the club, McCutcheon played in 103 games with 96 starts and marked 463 tackles, 7 sacks, 12 interceptions, 63 pass breakups and 8 forced fumbles.

McCutcheon missed the entire 2006 season after undergoing knee surgery during training camp. His final game as a Brown was the team's 20-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens on January 1, 2006.

Phil Dawson is now the lone remaining member of the club from '99. The longest-tenured position player on the club is defensive lineman Orpheus Roye, who signed with the Browns as a free agent in 2000. McCutcheon and Roye are tied for the most starts in a Browns uniform since the team's return to the league in '99.

I liked McCutcheon, thought he was a good guy. I never thought he was the end all/be all DB, though. I wish him luck and hope he gets picked up somewhere else. Hard to have hard feelings against the guy.

I agree McCutchen seemed to be a great person. Hopefully he does well for a new team.

We have Minter and I fully expect another DB in the draft, and I think Hood is still out there as a possibility, even Perkins may get a shot to compete... and Pool could possibly move, though I think they like him better moving around at S, CB & LB situationally.

it was expected, but it's still a shame... I would have liked to have seen him be able to retire a Brown.

Ralph Brown had work last year... if he's healthy so will Cutch this year.

Then again, you could be very right. Perhaps that microfracture surgery didn't work out so well.

I think your right. Shame but now maybe he can get in the booth... And still be involved.

I liked him too but I remember being surprised at how much cash he was making. I wonder how much cap space this saves?

This makes it that much more important to trade down this year . Get Levi Brown, Alan Branch or Jamaal Anderson at 7 or 8, then get one of the guards and Eric Wright, Aaron Ross, or Jonathan Wade in the 2nd.

that makes me a little sad. I always really liked Cutch. He was always the underdog but survived. I wonder if he's knee is so bad he can't play anymore, or if they just didn't want him. Seems like if he was healthy he'd be a good veteran 3 or 4 corner. My guess is he is done with football.

Good luck Regardless Cutch. The sole draft pick left from 99' is now gone.

Whatever happens to Cutch!

Best of luck! When he was able to hit the field he was usually a decent nickle back.

And the next head coach is ......

Glad to have you here Daylon, at times you were out best cover corner.

It's a shame it had to end like this, but it is a business.

Savage reported the K2's microfracture surgery was very mild and not nearly as extensive as compared to most.

Agreed, Clutch stuck with this Team thru many, many years of failure, he could have spoke up and requested a trade, but he didnt, he could have left via FA, but he didnt, Clutch stuck with us, For me I'll always respect his play on the field, but more importantly, I'll respect him as a person, his Class, his loyalty, no matter what Cluch is and always will be a Cleveland Brown, His type of dedication you dont find anymore, Can't thank ya enought....Your one classey...Cleveland Brown..

I was hoping he'd be able to come back this year and play... I guess his rehab wasn't going as well as I had hoped.

This means that only one player is left from the 1999 team...and I think all draftees from that draft are now gone too...wow, that draft really sucked for us.

NFL... Not for Long.

I wish Cutch the best. Football teams need good players. and he was a pretty good football player.

I hope the knee is not too serious.

agreed... he wasn't the best but he played with more heart then his talent allowed. That's probably why I liked him so much. I'm gonna miss him! hopefully he will catch on somewhere else.

Mild or not its no secret what the purpose of micro fracture surgery is. It's done as a last ditch to buy some time. I have a bad feeling Kellen left a really nice career on that curb.
