Where did you see that? I googled it and there was nothing saying he died.
Ailing Black Sabbath Guitarist Tony Iommi Thanks Fans for Support

Tony Iommi may be battling cancer, but he's clearly not going through it alone.
And the Black Sabbath guitarist, who was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, couldn't be more appreciative of the outpouring of love from "fans, friends and colleagues."

"I just want to say how overwhelmed I am with all your messages of support, thank you so much," Iommi wrote on his personal website.
The 63-year-old musician goes on to say that while his current medical condition is "not what I wanted for Christmas," he can't wait to "get going with the treatment."
Despite the diagnosis, Iommi and the rest of the original Sabbath lineup—Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward—are still moving forward with their first collection of music in 33 years. No word yet, though, on whether the group will proceed with its upcoming tour.
"It's really good that the guys are coming over so that we can continue working on the album as things are going great in the studio," said Iommi, adding: "Bless you all."
Quote: Sabbath has been what many will say the creation of heavy metal.....I just call it hard rock!
It's clever how they got their sound. They tuned the guitars down a little, added distortion, and played blues riffs. Their music is some of the best but I like the Heaven & Hell album better than the first couple albums.
I will politely differ on how Sabbath got their sound. after Tony Iommi had his accident,he went to banjo strings cause they were a lighter gauge. so it kinda accidently how Sabbath got that dark sound. Iommi detuned from E to C minor... If listen to Sabbath closely...the jazz influence is distinct...."Plant Caravan" is a great example. Sabbath such a great band..their 1st 5 albums are on the money. IMO Sabbath was a better band than the overated Zepplin
Sabbath is definitely one of my favorite rock bands. Easily top 10.
I agree that Zeppelin is a bit overrated, but they're still phenomenal. Iommi is still a peg lower than Page and Ward SURE aint no Bonham. Geezer's bass is epic. . .
Zepplin had a great manager in Peter Grant. The Sab's management were theives. Iommi vs Page is one of the great arguments..like Rodgers vs Brees..who's better. I loved Page growing up along with Ace Frehley. But as I heard Master of Reality and Vol.4 Page was a after thought. I think Iommi created a nice blueprint for being heavy. Page seems like he's all over the fretboard and sloppy. I love Iommi's work on "Born Again"..that whole album is criminally underated.
Peter Grant I think after Zep called it a day got mixed up in some kind Miami Vice style drug shananigans. But as far as Zep goes,Grant made sure Zepplin got like 90% of the gate proceeds. He took care of Plant,Page,Bonham and Jones. after Bad Company and Detective got signed to Swan Song records..Sabbath was next. I would love to hear the Sabbath/Zepplin jam sessions they had in 1973... but no band rocks as hard as the mighty R.E.M.
How could I forget about his thimble fingers?! Yeah, that played a huge role in their sound. If you haven't yet, I recommend checking out "I Am Ozzy" which is Ozzy's autobiography. It details the many early years of Sabbath along with the rest of Ozzy's life.
I think Zep and Sabbath are neck and neck with Sabbath ahead by just a little bit. I like Zep for the fact that they were willing to experiment with other styles. Although, Zep lifted melodies, harmonies, and lyrics from lesser known artists. Plant is a better vocalist over Ozzy but I enjoy Iommi's guitar work just as much as Page's. What separates the two for me are the lyrics. Geezer Butler, on top of being a phenomenal bass player, wrote fantastic lyrics. The lyrics got even better when they formed up with Dio.
Geezer Butler was ahead of his time with themes..... "Hole in the Sky"...'Into the Void"...."Under the Sun"...."Sabbath,Bloody Sabbath" lyrically and musically ahead of its time.

Quote: Listening to Vol. 4 as we speak. So friggin' good . . .
I will never forget the first time I seen the band in Dayton, had a front row seat with my brother on July 15, 1972.
They had a piano on the stage (which I thought was very very strange for Black Sabbath), with a sign that read "Keep off the Grass"...imagine that. Plenty of sweet smoke in the air that night.
Nobody sat down to play the piano, Ozzy just jumped around and gave the peace sign to everybody.
They played a couple of songs from Volume 4 ...Wheels of Confusion (that song kicks major ass) and Snowblind, which was a sweet surprise as the album had yet to be released.
My ears where ringing for well over 3 days from those huge Laney amps.
I will also never forget the day Volume 4 was released on 09.25.1972, which was my birthday. Went to the Goldenrod music store (head shop) and they had it cranked as we walked in. Never heard it before so we hung out to listen to the entire LP, before walking out with album in hand.
Quote: REM...I still don't understand how they got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...very much feel the same way about rappers.
Says the guy named after Bargain Basement Skynyrd...
Well, after hearing how Skynyrd sounds like today I'll take it. They're just not the same band without Ronnie Van Zant. Other than money I don't understand why Gary Rossington is still keeping it going.
"My opinions and feelings are mine and shall not be influenced by anyone....especially liberals."
The songs that you just listed are the ones that I think of when I think Van Halen. I first heard the new single the other day on the radio and I just couldn't believe it. That's the best that they can come out with??? Really??????

And that is the SINGLE. Singles are primarily the most catchy song on the album that gets released first w/ air play and a video.
The rest come out when the album's released next month. Not holding my breath . . .
Yeah, after hearing that single I went searching on youtube to see if I could find some more material on other songs that would be on the album. The only other song that I heard was called, "The Woman", which sounded a lot better than "Tattoo". God that song was something.
This video took place at some place called Cafe Wha?? in NY I think. Definitely interesting to see how each band member looks now a days compared to back then, especially David Lee Roth. Here's the video.....
If the album is good, I may try to see them live if they come to Ohio.

I hope that's what happened ....... because that was just horrible.
