Yes he did:

Cardinals | Team signs Hood
Sat, 10 Mar 2007 12:21:27 -0800

The Arizona Cardinals have signed free-agent CB Roderick Hood (Eagles) to a five-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Since there is no more starter material in FA.....that means we´ll have to draft a 1st day CB or Savage thinks either Holly or Wright are good enough #2...which I do not hope, cause they´re not

I wonder if now that we did not get Hood if the Browns would try to resign Cutch if he is healthy and maybe cheap?

I think I read somewhere Cutch is done for this season. Released or not.

Just an FYI for you-- We can't use message board links on this board.

Suprised we didn't make a move for this guy. We either draft a CB first day, or we hope to god that Bodden, Wright, and Holly are solid the whole year, and stay healthy. (Which they prolly won't )

I'm rather disappointed that we didn't get hood,, Him plus bodden, Holly and Wright, Minter and maybe Perkins could have been fun to watch,,,, Oh well

Nuts. I was hoping we could get Hood. Oh well. As it has been pointed out, we're thin at cornerback and he would have been a good addition. It will be interesting to see if we do anything in the draft to add another corner.

Well Minter was suppose to be pretty highly touted (2nd round grade?) before being injured. The only way I want a corner early in this draft is if we trade down. We have no defensive line as of now ( 2 old men for starters and the only backup that might be something was released from Pittsburgh with questions about work ethic) and still need a starting guard. I don't think with those problems that we can wait and gamble on second day picks to fix those problems.

We could draft a corner in round two - there are a lot of great prospects in the first two rounds of this draft. Here's my top 10 and we could get one of these guys and it'd be fine with our DBfield:

Leon Hall
Chris Houston
Darrelle Revis
Aaron Ross
Brandon Meriweather (safety tweener)
Marcus McCauley
Eric Wright
David Irons
Jonathan Wade
Josh Wilson

Cardinals signed CB Rod Hood to a five-year, $15 million contract.
As he wished, Hood will at least be given a chance to start and is likely the early favorite to take over at right corner for the inconsistent Eric Green. Including Antrel Rolle, Arizona's corners have underachieved so far in their young careers, so the veteran Hood should add some stability.

hmmm....he was less expensive than ie Mahan,,,,I don´t know but I think I would have brought him in for that money......I´d still like to know what Savage dished out for CB Kenny Wright for comparisons sake...any info on that?

I'm also a pimp of Fred Bennett from USC (not the good one). Here's his profile:

Strengths:
Good size and a solid frame...Smooth athlete with great speed and quickness...He is very aggressive in coverage and gets his hands on a lot of balls...Comes from a program with a reputation for producing pro defensive backs...A great leaper who puts himself in position to make plays...Matches up in zone & man...Major upside.

Weaknesses:
Is not overly physical...Only average as a tackler and in run support...Instincts are questionable and he doesn't have great ball skills...Hips aren't fluid and he plays too high...Makes too many mistakes and gets beaten too often...Doesn't always play up to his physical tools and is a bit of a underachiever...Durability concerns.

Notes:
The Gamecocks have also sent the likes of Sheldon Brown, Dunta Robinson, and Johnathan Joseph to the NFL in recent years...Spent one year at Hargrave Military Prep School...Underwent offseason shoulder surgery in 2005...Has everything you look for in terms of measurables but might be a workout warrior who gets drafted earlier than his play would usually indicate based on potential and not production.

3 mil a year for a player who might start, might not, Glad Savage wasnt gonna hand out money for a might be starter..We can get a might be starter out of the second round for less than 3 mil a year

Well, Hood was good enough to start in place of Sheppard when he went down. I'm fairly confident he would have started in Arizona and I'm equally confident he would have been a starter here.

"and the only backup that might be something was released from Pittsburgh with questions about work ethic"

Pdawg...without question DL needs investing...who what where is maybe up for debate.

But that statement is simply WRONG. And not a fact. It might make your opinion more powerful but its a Misinformed fact.

You have to be "RELEASED" to get put on a Practice Squad. Its a calculated risk you take as he must clear waivers and you sneak him by the NFL as they are busy with their rosters...and then you "RE-SIGN" him and put him on the practice squad.

As for the Work Ethic - that is also a "HALF TRUTH" as it was a major concern as the kid had a world of talent coming from the "U" he was a definate early 2nd round Talent...but lasted all the way till the Steelers 4th round pick.

But the reports on him while on the practice squad were anything but Work Ethic issues. He proved that he was able to mature and understand for the first time of his life something wasn't going to be handed to him.

Yes, this does not make him a sure fire stud. But the picture is nowhere a GLUM as you portray.

Just thought I'd point that out

sorry Pdawg...I'm just on the BS patrol today nothing personal.
