Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.
Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown.
A sad end to a great talent. Far too young for such a great voice to go silent forever.
RIP Ms Houston.

I had such a tremendous crush as a kid on her when "I wanna dance with somebody" was out... and yes, I am listening to it on youtube as I type this, lol.

You know... I really could care less... why is it when a celebrity dies..everyone wants to say words of concern....she screwed up by hanging with Brown...took her down..lesson learned !
You ever bury a 5 yr old niece that died from cancer ? I did...and i didn't see TMZ blowin down the doors to make a buck from that...
Thank God they didn't...Uncle Billy would have gone off !!!! That's me ya know...
So to all the young children...and lonely people who had no-one there to care...and the parents that got abused in some nasty nursing home.... I love Ya !
Rest in peace... you meant something to someone....
Like Ballpeen, I really never was a fan. She was always a sweaty drug addict to me. But man, she could sing.
Deisle...I think people have things to say because this person some how, some way, touched their lives. Just as we have things to say when we lose someone close to us. Most of us just don't say those things HERE because the rest of us didn't know them. It doesn't make them any less.

You know Michelle....I wish I would have used my first name on here instead of a screen name....
Many of you know me personally...and I'm grateful of that...In case the day comes..when I pass... I want to be remembered as me....not a screen name....
Thing is...you have all touched my life...in one way or the other...A chapter.. a memory..a Browns game...A hang over.... or a post on here
You're right Michelle..it doesn't make them less...
imo i just think when a celeb passes (and at a young age) its a jolt..because in Houstons case i had forgotten about her and i think stars are sorta looked at as bulletproof...this theory sounded better in my head
Damn ... regardless of what her personal demons were she leaves behind some really great sounds . Makes me feel a little sad to think that when I go there will not be a small part of me that stays behind .
I just downloaded a ton of Whitney songs to my iTunes. I forgot the albums I had of hers were all vinyl, I needed the digital to take with me on trips.
Whitney Houston touched so many, not in a personal way, but with her voice. That is why many, who never met her or knew her, might still feel the need to give their condolences.
She was a true talent that sang some of the most beautiful songs, ever.... by far, the epitome of a true vocalist. Not this crap you hear these days where the "singer" constantly changes pitch and calls it singing.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

Yep. I always crack today's "talent" because the talent is nothing but a production board. Houston needed nothing to make her sound pretty flipping good. Not a huge fan, but that is because that type of music just isn't me. But there was no denying she had some great pipes on her and could sing the phone book.
Her downfall was sealed when she allowed herself to get involved with Bobby Brown. Her problems had been well documented and its a shame she couldn't get the help she needed.
Oh man, that's sooooo true, I was watching the Grammys last night.. There were singers on there that were amazing.. Jennifer Hudson, Bonnie Riatt, Adele, Alecia Keys and for the guys, Blake Shelton and a few others..
Then you get a Chris Brown who, without the electronics, I'm not sure he'd be any good at all.. or for that matter, Nicki Manaj either.

Quote: Adele is absolutely incredible.... I don't know that I'd even put anyone else in her class right now.
There's other very good female singers. I like Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland. Her music is poppy and doesn't have the Jazz sound that Adele's does, but she definitely has some pipes.
