I'm so worried about being late tomorrow morning, I have the hotel alarm set, THREE cell phone alarms and a wake up call scheduled for 5:30 am. I start work at 6:30am tomorrow morning.

Every clock I have - cell phone (also the alarm clock), computer, cable box - changes on it's own.

No worries.

I hate this crap.

I enjoy this time change as it offers an extra hour of light in the evening to do some yard work, ride my motorcycle, get some fishing in or a myriad of other outdoor activities. In late June, when it's not getting dark until 9-9:30, I can get in 18 holes after work.

I hate winter and going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark and wasting all the daylight sitting at my desk.

I agree, having those extra hours of daylight after work make a huge difference.

Falling back in the winter kills me for the same reason. Dark on the way to work, dark leaving work.

I hate the fact that 5 o'clock is no longer 5 o'clock.

Pick a standard and go with it instead of screwing up everyone's schedules twice a year. I understand that DST had a purpose once upon a time ....... but with a 24 hour business cycle, it's long gone. Split the difference, or pick one, whatever, just make a choice and go with it.

I think the time should change every month. Would you like that?

Can you imagine how screwed up your electronics would be then? Programmers can hardly implement leap year correctly as it is now and that's only every 4 years.

I would loathe it.

The worst part was when I used t have to go to work one day a month at 4:30 am ........ and inevitably it would be right after DST started. The rest of the month the earliest we went in was 6:30. Anyway, it was like really getting there at 3:30 that day ......... which really sucked in a mighty way.

An old indian chief once said after having been told of Daylight Savings Time, "Only the government would cut 1 foot off the top of the blanket and sew it onto the bottom and think they made the blanket longer".

True.

I have been reading more and more stuff that our federal and local governments do at various levels, and it really makes me wonder how we haven't been taken over by someone by now ...... because we are just plain stupid sometimes.

Personally, I think they do it backwards to begin with. I think we should spring back and fall forward.

That too, but if they did it my way it would get darker a little earlier in Summer and later in Winter. I mean who really wakes up when the rooster crows anymore?

Yep. Like I said, this stuff made sense when towns rolled up the sidewalks at 5PM ...... but that's not the case anymore. We are largely on a 24 hour cycle anymore, and the modern age really doesn't need DST anymore.

This is such a relic of the World War era, and needs to just go away.

If you like the extra daylight in the evening, then change your work schedule to an hour earlier ... problem solved. That is essentially what DST is doing for you. During the WW era, they wanted to conserve fuels. Rather than tell people to work an hour earlier, or just wake up sooner ... they just had everyone push their clocks ahead, and forced them to do it anyway.

Now, it's just a dumb reason for everyone to eff with their clocks (physical and biological) twice a year.

I don't mind it either. Although I think it's silly and outdated, still, it makes no difference nor has any effect on me either way.

The only effect it has on me is that my internal clock is thrown off for a few days. Thankfully, though, my 2 year old adjusted just fine.

We still roll up the sidewalks at 5 pm in Columbiana County

Worst part for me is that our microwave clock is screwed up. Not all the buttons work on it, so we can't reset the clock. So, our microwave is on central time.

I know that you're joking to an extent ..... but even sleepy little bedroom communities are no longer 9-5. Grocery stores stay open late for their customers.

I can remember, when I was a kid, the local grocery store (yeah, we had one in town) closed at 5 or 6 every weekday. They were open till 1 on Saturday, and were closed on Sunday.

The gas stations were closed on Sundays, were full service when open, and were only open till 5 or 6 or so during the week.

When the town closed up, it was closed up.

If you had an emergency you could call the store or business owner and they'd probably come open up for you, if they could.

We'd drive to church on Sundays, and nothing was open at all.

Man, what a totally different world from then to today.

x 2 Doesn't bother me at all. I like having the extra time after work to get things done around the house during the week so I can play on the weekends.

I'm sure that there are all kinds of excuses.

It started back around WWI. It was actually so unpopular that after WWI, Congress voted it down, and then overrode a Presidential veto to abolish DST. From something like 1920 to WWII, we had no national DST. (although a few states continued the practice) After WWII, we went back to no national DST. Nixon signed into law DST for "energy conservation" purposes. At the time it may have made sense. That was the early 70s. It was a vastly different world than today's world.

Daylight Savings Time is a concept whose time has come and gone. The purpose of DST is no more. The 24 hour business cycle has put an end to energy savings. All it does is mess people up twice a year, and make people late/early if they forget to reset their clocks.

So let's see ...... after WWI, abolished, and we had the roaring twenties.

After WWII, it was abolished again, and we had an extended period of prosperity.

In the 70s ..... it was made a national law, we had an economic disaster.

Let's get rid of this albatross a let the economy start booming again. lol

As long as it doesn't involve being energy independent, barry should be down for it!
