I try to get a Walt Disney callout every few months.

I believe you said, though, that the Colts would trade Manning, not just outright cut him.

It occurs to me, what if the Colts decide Manning is long in the tooth, has an injury, & they see Palmer fetches 2 firsts..

They might be thinking, lets get 2 firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd for Manning and then draft Luck?

Redskins, Cowboys punishments to be split over 2 years
by Clark Judge | Senior NFL Columnist

The NFL will punish the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins, but not all in one fiscal year.

Instead, the salary-cap amounts will be spread over two seasons, according to people who know, with the Redskins docked $18 million this year and $18 million in 2013 and the Cowboys $5 million in each year.

The annual figures represent half of their punishments and were imposed because there was a feeling among the NFL's Management Council Executive Committee that penalizing the clubs the entire amounts in one season would be too harsh.

Dallas owner Jerry Jones is a member of that committee.

Both teams contend they are innocent, with the Redskins saying they received no written confirmation of of 2012 salary-cap adjustments first reported by the media. However, sources indicate Washington was notified by Monday and the Cowboys earlier.

The punishments come on the eve of free agency, with clubs available to sign unrestricted free agents after 4 p.m. Tuesday, the beginning of the new fiscal year.

In case anyone was wondering how the number will split over the two years....it's half and half mandated by the league.

that's a huge blow to the skins, not so much to the cowboys. Only being able to spend 85% of the cap over two years, plus not having a few draft picks will hurt their ability to have success, even if griffin turns out to be ok.

However, teams are also able to borrow cap space from future years as well, so it may not be as bad as some think. Plus, they have many of their core type guys signed to team friendly deals from last year. I really don't think that this is as big a deal as some make it out to be.

It would be like if we resigned Joe Thomas 2 years ago in the uncapped year (instead of this past year) and tried to sneak it in. We were still going to resign him anyway. No big deal. They are still way, way under the cap, almost where we are, even after their penalty. (I have read that we will have something like $18 million in space, and they will have something like $13-14. Plus, as I noted earlier, they can borrow future cap space to an extent if they need to)

I don't kno if you're being sarcastic or not... Because theres NO way that would of happened...

Due to the Bonus deadline, Manning basically would have had to agree to push that back until after he got traded...

Why would he do that, when he can get released, and pick where he goes, and go to a team that hasn't just given up multiple high selections...

Geez.. I'm trying to hassle 79 here. I said this back in October of last year and then 79 made his ill advised Disney doing the cha cha comment. I was wayyyyy ahead of any curve that included Dungy and all the twits at Sports Center that think they know football. I was just off a tad on the timing thats all hehe..

Mike and Mike were talking about this this morning. They said it had a lot to do with the way the Redskins tried to get rid of all/or a lot of Albert Haynesworth old deal during the uncapped year. That horrendously bad contract was going to hang on them for a few more years and evidently they tried to accelerate and dump it all in the uncapped year and that is a big part of what cost them...

yep. that is why the Raiders and Saints also got slaps on the wrist (they dumped smaller deals comparatively). No extra $1.6mil cap room for them.

I think it's funny that for the Raiders it was cutting Russell. He was the bust that just keeps on giving.

JC.. I watched SC a bit ago, and they had Bill Polian on there. He did a very nice job of explaining the situation with Dallas and Wash. Very clear and concise. It was obvious this is a very intelligent guy that knows his football. I was impressed.

C'mon Saint',

You can't say that and then not share the "clear and concise' info for us can you? That's just not right
