Tolbert was one of the few guys I really wanted us to pursue.

And, yeah, Carolina is probably the last team that I thought would sign him.

That's what they'll be asking...then you remind them that he'll walk as a FA in 12 months and they get a comp pick at best and have at least 1 unhappy RB for the entire season...I mean, you can't keep all of DeAngelo, Stewart and Tolbert happy...and their 3rd down back Goodson is decent too

I think a 4th in 2012 and some conditional 2013 pick (4th to 7th depending on performance, maybe as good as a 3rd if he produces over 2k total yds or something like that)....either way, this looks like a draft weekend trade where "pending" deals are reached so that the aquiring team has some flexibility

I expect us to do something with all those picks as I don't see Heckert picking 13 prospects this season just to cut 3 or more because there's no room/other youngsters from past drafts on the roster

I hope we do 1 or 2 of these Patriot-like trades (give away a 4th for a future 3rd, or better: turning that 22nd overall into a 1st next draft and mid round 2nd this draft)

Yeah we should have cut Rubin too after that poor rookie season of his

It's funny...people are now so spoiled by Heckert's drafts that they think late 4th rounders should play at AVG NFL level from day 1..there's maybe 1or2 4th rounder that does from day 1

Me thinks most on here don't know how rare it is to draft a DT late 1st and a DE early 2nd and have them both play at AVG NFL level from day 1....you guys don't realize how lucky we got and what a good job of talent evaluation and coaching that was...take a look at all those other DL taken around Taylor and Sheard for a moment please

Instead of being thankful for finally having a GM that selects good players in the top rounds they moan about 3rd day picks not being studs from day 1...I guess that's the Brownsfan way of accepting progress

With the Miami Dolphins quarterback situation still unsettled, the team will take a look at veteran free agent David Garrard.

Garrard is scheduled to meet with the Dolphins today after losing out on Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn. They also are in negotiations with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith.

The Dolphins are taking a look at Garrard as insurance in case they don't come to terms with Smith.

Link

If the Dolphins sign Garrard, and who knows they may sign him, that would mean they are out on Smith. But Garrard would probably compete with Matt Moore for the starting job. I don't think having Garrard (age thirty-four) and Moore (age twenty-eight) on the roster would stop Miami from drafting Tannhehill though.

Dolphins to release Bell

Yeremiah Bell is expected to be released by the Dolphins, a league source said Monday.

Bell has started for the Dolphins for the past four years. He had 107 tackles and an interception last season.

Garrard,. Gabbert, Flynn, Kolb, Alex Smith, Tebow,

Geesh! Colt McCoy has got to be the 54th best Quarterback in the league.

Just to respond to the locked Peyton Manning Thread

I hope Tebow goes to the Jaguars, , wait a minute a 5th round pick?

I'd give the Bronco's 2 5th round picks to make a 3 way trade to give the Jaguars Tebow straight up for Blaine Gabbert.

But that's just me.

IN one of these threads, I just read that Holmgren said he didn't want to change the offense too much?

first of all, what do you call the botched hope of a trade for the #2 overall pick.
You weren't going to trade all that for a defensive player.

2nd or all, What offense! you call that an offense?

Colt McCoy! 200 yards and a cloud of Dust! How can you not change that.

Give the dolphins, Alex Smith, Give the Jaguars Tim Tebow, and hope San Fran can't get a pick ahead of 22,

Then take Blackmon at 4, and Tannehill at 22, or Somebody!

How many teams have 2 quarterbacks better than Colt McCoy?

Quick , ( well most of them, anymore, so ) so, Name all the quarterbacks Colt McCoy is better than.
Tavaris Jackson.
including backups? yes . Tavaris Jackson.
and , I know theres another one.
Jordan Palmer?

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Yeah, I never got to reply to that thread.

Why I think it's a classless act.

Continued.....

Tim Tebow not only took that team on his shoulders and brought them to the Playoffs, but he also help win a playoff game for them and not with his feet, but rather with his arm.

Manning may or may not do them one better, but one thing I'm sure of is that his time left in this game is very limited and to me that's a short sided view and not building for the future. Their fans might be happy right now, but it won't last.

I doubted this young man before, but I won't do it again. He's a winner and he will be a winner for what ever team he lands on @ QB. I also think that he took some steps forward at his position and will continue to do so, even if he will never be the perfect picture of what a QB should be. He makes players around him play at their highest level, because he leads by example.

The defense had a lot more to do with Denver making the playoffs than Tebow and his 3-10 completions/game. I'll admit he played very well in the playoff win vs. Pittsburgh, but he's never going to be a consistent NFL QB.

Because without Tebow, then they are probably drafting 2nd instead of 25th and Manning is not a long term solution for 'that' team. I'll be surprised if he is 75% the QB he was just two years ago.
Anyway there are no guarantees, that they will win more games this season.

Yes their defense was pretty good, but they where not the ones who rose above expectations and scored the points to win those games.

After all the praise he received from Fox on how the young man was a winner and all the rest ... Now they seem ready to kick him to the curb. To me they seem ungrateful for their cash cow last year and make no mistakes about it he earned them good money.

Like I said ... I wish them the same misfortune as last years "Dream Team".

TJMO. You folks don't have to agree either, that's your right.

Does that go for DTers as well?

Not bringing Tim Tebow to Cleveland, would not be bad sportsmanship on our behalf. [purple] if there is still such a thing today. [/purple]

I think if H&H wanted him they would have tried to draft him, so I wouldn't think that he is an option to come here to us and our strict WCO, but I think that he could possibly do for another team what he did for the Donks.

Well, there you have it. The Broncos owed him a screw-over... they'd be able to pick their franchise QB if he hadn't won all those games!

Tebow, Cribbs, Seneca and Colt all on the field at the same time. The defense will never know who is running the ball, throwing the ball, or receiving the ball. They might not care either , but it would be really fun thinking up all the sandlot plays we could run.

You know, I was thinking about Peyton Manning, and I started to wonder why it is that he needed to negotiate such a huge contract. If I'm a guy who has already been paid huge bucks and I want to make one last run to the championship, why not take a small salary and enable the team to go out and get big time FAs?

I know he's got to help secure his future, but I would hope he could do that with a 4 year $50 million contract just as much as with a 4 year $96 million contract.

Tell me he wouldn't be an effective FB or TE or WR or trick play freak?

The thing about Tebow is, used properly, hes a weapon.. what don't we have enough of? Weapons.

Having said that, I don't expect the Browns to bring him in.. he's gonna want to be a QB.. that won't work here for reasons many have already pointed out.

I think people would have a problem if we brought him in as a QB, not as some gimmick WR or FB.

Now, I sincerely doubt we'll do even that because if he's here and Colt McCoy throws a single INT, people will start calling for Tebow at QB.

I'd give up a 3rd for Tebow. If we don't try to bring him in, add another blunder to the dorks running the team.

It isn't about long term considerations, it's about Tebow is better than the cherub we now have at QB.

I don't know about you guys, but I could stand to see a little excitement down at the stadium.

We'd be better off bringing back Charlie Frye to QB than getting Tebow.

I won't get in to a long debate about it because that tends to bring out the ugly, so I'll just leave it that I would be just fine with Tebow playing for the Browns.

Won't happen, but it would be nice.

I'll have a HUGE problem if his name is even uttered by anyone as close as the worst valet parking attendant linking Tebow to this organization.

I want no part of the idiotic Tebowmania circus. If he's brought here to scrub garbage cans there will be 25000 insane bible-thumpers blowing up the phone lines, bill-boards, and local media chanting and demanding that he becomes the next QB of the Cleveland Browns.

Tebow cannot be on this team. Ever.

If Tebow is brought in, I'm out. That isn't meant to be construed as a threat to the organization that they'll be losing a faithful fan, but rather a pure show of disgust in knowing that my beloved team is run by a bunch of moronic, inbred, short-sighted knuckle-draggers who don't know a damned thing about football.

Go back to Florida, Timmy. Go home. Your day as a starting QB in the NFL was a blessing that you never really should have had. You got it by virtue of your cult-following, not your ability as a passer. Be thankful you had a great run. Now go home to your family and continue being a great human being.

Far away from Cleveland.

It won't be hard beating out a QB who was statistically the 34th rated passer in the NFL in Gabbert, especially what Khan has a need to sell tickets which is every bit as important as winning games.
