If true...insane on Ram's part. That means: 1. They didn't take the best offer for their organization. 2.They kept Rg3 in their own conference.
If true...dereliction of duty by the Rams FO. Just my $0.02
So, if all of that is true.....we really do have a bone to pick against this FO! How dare they make the same or better offer and loose out because were aren't buddy-buddy with the owner of the #2 pick. For shame! We should be able to control the friendships across the NFL to only favor us.

Here's the exact quote: link Browns president Mike Holmgren said the Browns were not outbid by the Redskins in an attempt to acquire the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft in a trade with the St. Louis Rams. However, the Rams picked the Redskins as a trading partner, and they are expected to use the pick on Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III. Holmgren said the relationship between the Rams and Redskins played a role in Washington making the deal. “What we offered for the pick was every bit the offer that was chosen,” Holmgren said this afternoon on a conference call with season-ticket holders. “There’s a real close relationship with the people who eventually got the deal done. I’m not sure any offer we made at the end of the day would’ve been good enough. “Rest assured we were aggressively involved in that. We didn’t fold up our tent.” Holmgren said the Browns have a Plan B. “Do we take our ball and go home? No. We go to the next step,” he said. “The draft picks we were going to use, now we have again. The other plan we talked about is we use those picks to make the team better immediately this year. Get starters and help the quarterback by surrounding that position with better players.”

Couple things. 1 noone can believe a single word that ever comes from Michael Lombardi. I never liked him when he was here and now he just annoys the hell out of me. Thing with the Rams and DC is coaches are very good friends and the owners are also very good friends. It is a double whammy there. It all worked out for the best because it increased the chances of me getting what I wanted

jc...the Cleveland media and some fans owe Holmgren and Heckert an apology...but don't hold your breath.
Kind of sounds like the Rams used the Browns with no intention of doing a deal. Then Cleveland fans and media assume our front office didn't try to get a deal done and proceed to savage Holmgren and Heckert.

It will be hard to surround "the quarterback" with players if we draft a quarterback.
I get the sense that it is Colt McCoy again next year.

Someone should have asked them why/how Jaqua Parker is more important to this team than Peyton Hillis.....same year and same money deal. Ugh what a lack-luster FA period so far.

Because Jaqua Parker isn't totally insane and disliked in the locker room?

They didn't want Hillis because of the way he acted last year. Some may not like it. But that's the reason they didn't sign him.

Bull.. Other teams have the same cap as us. How do they continue to do it while we shop at the dollar store? I'm not saying pull a Redskins shopping spree but we should be able to afford ONE stud FA once in awhile.
how many teams signed a stud FA this offseason?
Bills - Mario Williams TB - Vincent Jackson & Carl Nicks NO - maybe w/ Grubbs and whoever gets Peyton (obviously)
Don't forget the Bears - Jason Campbell, Don''t forget the Cowboys- Kyle Orton, and Lawrence Vickers, Might as well throw in the Redskins-, w the #2 pick ( everyone knows who) , as it was just a week ago.
WOW, I'd like to have seen the Browns get the player San Diego got,- Robert Meachem.
Question, from me? " Is it so much to expect ONE wide receiver of consequence would join the team every now and then? ( in a 3 year period?) "
You Can't draft a Quarterback and a Wide Receiver with 1 pick,
Laurent Robinson is a Jaguar. So that's 9 teams.
Mostly quarterbacks and Wide receivers, and that's, those are the glaring needs on the Browns, or what would help the most.
Forgot the Chiefs and Peyton Hillis. so thats 10, almost a 3rd of the league.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

so create another hole to fill......can you guys say that you are ok with Montario Oneyardesty as our feature back?
This conference call they even said they need O playmakers, but so far all we have gotten is D-Line.......they have to slam-dunk these draft picks. there is no room for being wrong....so tired of these pathetic moves year after year!

Yea.. I don't see us turning in a card for a QB at 4. Maybe if we sense a steal on one later we move around, but I see us taking a WR or RB with our first pick.

Have I got this right ? .. Homie is inferring that the Rams took a lesser offer from the Skins ? Because of friendship ?

I'm not sure they took a lesser offer. Holmgren said they made every bit of the offer that was accepted. I'm guessing that means the two offers were pretty the same, or at least very similar. Maybe it was the friendship that was the deciding point.

OK : But that said , If we offered our #4 & # 22 this year and our #1 next and then threw in a second ( Thats kinda like what competitive would have been ) The Rams took the Skins instead ?

Dude, if you think that you sure don;t know me to well. I like Tannehill and I still believe he is the guy we will draft but unlike some, I refuse to cry when we pass on talent if we get more talent. I just go nuts when we pass on great players and reach for duds like Coples and Zach Brown. AKA William Green, Big Money, Jeff Faine type players.
Trent Richardson is my #2 player. claiborne is #3, if we take either of those, I wont have a problem even though I think we can get another terrific rb later. BTw Tannehill4 and Poe is 5. Blackmon at 6, Rg3 at 7, Martin at 8, Kalil at 9, kirkpatrick at 10 *I want him as a safety prospect.

Could be that the rams liked that 2014 first from washington over our #22 this year. I figured the friendship had a lot to do with it, but the Rams get two first-rounders in 2013 and 2014, and not just 2012 and 2013. That is the only difference I see if our offers were essentially identical.
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).

Runningback is the wrong move in my opinion.
I have trouble deciding if I would take the best player available, Justin Blackmon WR, at a position of need for the Browns , (Probably) or
Take the Quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who can get the ball over top of a defense and make throws to the oppisite sideline in the flat QUICKLY, ( the throws that is), ... because there are already two Qb's gone. (will be gone)
The Wr's after Blackmon, I like and there are more of them that I like that could help the Browns Mohamed Sanu, Kendall Wright, Michael Floyd, there are about 10+
The Qb's after Tannehill that I like are few, but they all have question marks, including Tannehill, Weeden, Ryan Lindley, and maybe nobody else.
I wouldn't give a 7th for Kirk Cousins, I wouldn't give a 7th for Nick Foles,
So it comes down to. Blackmon, WR, + LaMichael James, ( The best player in this entire draft) ... and Maybe hope for Weeden to be there at 37, or
Tannehill, a Wr at 22, either Floyd, Wright, or Sanu, ... and maybe hope that LaMichael James is there at 37. (not a chance,
Bottom line is
If they Draft Richardson RB, then they did NOT draft LaMichael James RB and LaMichael James RB is the best player in this draft.
Best player since Eli Manning. laMichael James Rb,, he better be on somebodys radar.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Do you like L.James? I'm thinking about a bet because I think it's very likely that he's there at 37...and probably beyond that too

Some would agrue that Blackmon is not the BPA at number 4 if Claiborne and Richardson are still on the board. And I would probably agree. But you are right it is a position of need so I would be O.K.
Are you suggesting James at 22? I haven't seen him projected in the 1st round anywhere.
I also think 37 is far to high for Weeden.

Question: OL?
Heckert: Feel good about Pinkston and Lauvao. Greco will compete. Do need to add to OL, though.
I called it..Greco will be a starting guard next year with Pinky moving to RT. We'll see but thinking that is what their thought process is at this time.
They have repeatedly said that Pinkston is staying at Guard. Who would you think that they are lying about that? If this front office, and coaching staff are to be believed, Pinkston is a Guard, and a Guard he will remain.
Greco is a nice backup. He's a fellow Spartan. (Boardman) I don't see him starting anywhere next year unless there's an injury.

Not only that but from the conference call today Holmgren said something along these lines, "We need a RT and are looking hard at the draft & using some our picks to take offensive linemen." Here is the link to the conference call. No transcript up yet.

Well, if that is the case then I apologize for my explosion on the front office regarding RG3.
Man I still wish we could have got him somehow though. It would be so nice to have the QB spot settled for the next 10-15 years.
I think that we should tell the Rams to go screw themselves if they want to trade with us ...... unless they want to pay triple the "book" chart value for a pick. Bastiches.
I am glad that they see and understand the need to improve greatly this year. Hell, I'm not even all that concerned about wins and losses this year, although wins would be much better than losses, however, I want to see much, much, much improved play on offense. We cannot have completely inefficient and dysfunctional play on offense. I hope that they are working with McCoy on throwing at moving targets this offseason.
I still hate the Rucker signing.

I remember them saying as much after they drafted him, but given that he played pretty well inside and has played Tackle and is young they might feel he is capable of moving outside. I actually heard it from a "Source" that unless they can sign a versatile Lineman that Pinkston would be a candidate. When they say Greco will compete I think he means for starter. Greco played well last year in spot duty so if we can't locate a starter then Greco would be in and we would have to find more depth.

That they are looking for a right tackle. Is there some hidden subliminal message in there? It really is quite clear. If they don't find a RT what does that mean?

If you weren't being sarcastic (font dangit), I think it means you will here this on day 1:
"With the 22nd selection in the 2012 draft the Cleveland Browns select Cordy Glenn, offensive tackle, University of Georgia.
I'd refer Martin from Stanford, but figure him to be gone by 22, or I think an even better value Brandon Brooks from Miami of Ohio in the 3rd (maybe 4th but doubt he lasts that long, he may not even last til our 3rd).
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).
