You know, last year everyone was ragging on the draft class coming out, but I honestly wouldn't take any of these guys coming out over KI.
I think there are a few guys with promise, and I hope to get one of them, but we may have gotten the best player of the last 3 drafts counting the upcoming one.

People were hesitant on Irvin beause he only played 11 games. If he played the whole season, I think none would be debating how good he would be at the next level.

Cavs currently at the #8 spot in the draft... Not that ANYTHING good can ever come out of that location...

With the trade deadline moves I don't see how their draft position can do anything but get better and better from here. I'll be surprised if we average 85 ppg for the remainder of the season, between starting Tristan Thompson at center and giving significant PG moments to Daniel Gibson and Anthony Parker. If they're wise they will just keep Andy shut down for the year. No sense risking re-aggrivating his injury.

As long as we're being competitive.
I don't want another long losing streak.
I don't want Kyrie and TT to get USED to losing...

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento Kings have waived forward J.J. Hickson. Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie announced the move Monday. Sacramento acquired Hickson last June from Cleveland for forward Omri Casspi and a conditional future first-round draft pick. Hickson played 35 games for Sacramento. He averaged 4.7 points and 5.1 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per contest. He had been bothered recently by back spasms and played only 6 minutes in the past 10 games. Hickson was a first-round pick by Cleveland out of North Carolina State in 2008. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7711101/jj-hickson-waived-sacramento-kings

Why do you waive a guy you just traded for... While he's hurt..?

I think its a pretty safe bet that that won't be happening.
JJ has to get his head on right or he's pretty much done in the NBA. Too bad, too, because he has all the physical ability in the world.

JJ could have been great. Man, if he would have embraced his role and pursued it with all of his ability and enthusiasm he could be great.
Instead he wanted to be a "star", and now he's unemployed.

If Webber didn't blow out his knees, they probably win 1, even after that 02 debacle with the Lakers. I still remember that game 7 with the Lakers. Kings had them on the ropes, but the Lakers got em in overtime.

Speaking of tonight's game ...... Tristan Thompson said he was embarrassed by his performance the other night, and he promised that he would not play that poorly again ....... And tonight he throws down 27 and 12 boards against the nets. Irving had 26 and 7 assists. (plus 5 boards) Let's hear it for the rooks! Samuels added 10, and newly signed Donald Sloan added 11 points off the bench.

Trailblazers was in 2000. that was the team with Pippen. They also played a game 7 with Lakers. The Kings-Lakers series was in 2002.

I lived in Sacramento during these years. You forgot fan-favorite Bobby Jackson (high energy backup PG). G-Force was not a force in those days though. He was a high energy young guy that barely got any minutes.
I went to a bunch of games and cow pasture Arco was absolutely insane (wearing a Lawrence Funderburke jersey because I found it on clearance for $10 - and yes, he was technically on the team and had a few "good" games).

Cavaliers waive Ryan Hollins. I can't really say that I am all that surprised. He had like one good game while he was here, and was consistent only in his inconsistency. Erden isn't much better, if at all better, IMO ....... however, it's no big loss, especially if Thompson can continue to develop in the middle. http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2012/03/cleveland_cavaliers_waive_cent.htmlATLANTA -- Ryan Hollins has gone from the starting lineup to the waiver wire in a week. The Cavaliers released the 7-foot center today. It's believed both Hollins and the club thought the move in their best interests. The Cavs likely will fill the roster spot by signing a big man to a 10-day or free-agent deal in the coming days. The Cavs have been trying to find stability at the center position since Anderson Varejao broke his right wrist on Feb. 10. Coach Byron Scott had given Semih Erden and Hollins the opportunity to start in Varejao's absence before turning over the spot to rookie Tristan Thompson the past two games. Thompson responded with a career-high 27 points and 12 rebounds in the Cavaliers' 105-100 win on Monday night against New Jersey. Hollins was averaging 3.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 24 games this season. It's believed the club was not going to resign Hollins, an unrestricted free agent, in the summer. He was making $2.43 million this season. Releasing him now gives Hollins, 27, the opportunity to catch on with another club after he clears waivers. He likely will land with a team looking to add depth at center. He has played with Charlotte, Dallas and Minnesota in his six-year career. Hollins spent the past two seasons with the Cavaliers and might be best remembered for his fight with Detroit's Charlie Villenueva last season. He played his best basketball with the Cavaliers at the end of last season, working well with Baron Davis.

Hickson signed with the Warriors.
We used the open slot to pickup our new backup PG (Neal)

I am curious how we could re-sign Hickson anyway. Isn't the new rule in this CBA that a traded player cannot be resigned by the team that traded him for a period of 1 year after the trade? Now I know this was intended to stop the trade/sign back *wink wink* after a trade where a veteran was thrown in to balance the salaries, but I don't see an exception for a case like this. How new NBA deal compares to last one - ESPN http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/CBA-111128/how-new-nba-deal-compares-last-oneRe-signing a traded player • 2005 CBA: If a player is traded and subsequently waived by his new team, he cannot re-sign with his original team for 30 days (during the season) or 20 days (during the offseason) following the trade. • 2011 CBA: If a player is traded and subsequently waived by his new team, he cannot re-sign with his original team for one year following the trade or until July 1 after the last season of the player's contract, whichever is earlier. • Who benefits? The tighter salary-matching rules in the 2005 agreement often required the addition of ballast (extra players thrown in for salary matching purposes) to make a trade legal. These players were often unwanted and unneeded once the trade was complete, and were waived soon after the trade was consummated -- often finding their way back to the team that traded them after a short vacation. For example, the Cavs sent Zydrunas Ilgauskas to the Wizards as part of their 2010 trade for Antawn Jamison. The Wizards waived him a week later, and he subsequently re-signed with the Cavs for the remainder of the season. The relaxation of trade rules should reduce -- but not eliminate -- the need for trade ballast. When it does occur, this rule change will prevent the team from reacquiring the player in the same season. This is a mixed blessing. On one hand, it will eliminate these wink-wink deals where players are traded with the full expectation of returning later. On the other hand, it might create a situation where an able-bodied player is unable to work in the league, because the only team that has an available roster spot and is willing to sign him is prevented from signing him.

I thought it was 6 months. 1 year really puts the clamps down on it. I can see that rule really hurting the fringe NBA guys that were added just to make salaries match. Their original team might re-sign them if they could, but by the time the year is up, they may have completely moved on and not be willing to find a roster spot. ah well.

Not to sound like a homer or a flavor of the week type, but what do you guys think about taking a look at Deshaun Thomas?
If he's really 6'7" and can shoot and handle the ball like that? I'd love to see if we can grab him, especially if we miss out of the top players with the way the cavs are going. It seems like they won't make the playoffs, but may finish out of the top 5 of the lottery chances..
When I watch the Buckeyes play, and I know they need a bucket, I'm hoping the ball gets swung his way. Even more than Sullinger. I trust that guy the most with that team.

yeah, i'd look at him with the Lakers pick if we don't get Beal with our own and decide that J.Lamb isn't going to develop enough (I really like him too though).
