that plays out like a SNL script.
SVG drops quote bomb. Dwight arrives "unaware" of quote and hugs coach/says right things. SVG ducks out and leaves Dwight to talk to media (in wake of bomb drop)
the only thing missing is SVG coming back in laughing his rear off

Yes, but Howard then confirmed he doesn't want SVG fired. LINK So to recap this here: •Dwight Howard holds franchise hostage for four months, demanding a trade but saying he might re-sign, while continually throwing his teammates and management under the bus as reasons for him to leave. •Has a last minute change-of-heart which he flip-flops on three times, before finallys signing a wavier on his opt-out for the summer, keeping him under contract through 2013. •A report surfaces that Howard wants Van Gundy fired. •SVG confirms that report to the press. •Dwight strolls on in and denies the report to the same press that SVG had confirmed seconds earlier.
“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”

Van Gundy says management told him. Why would he lie about that? That would kill the lockeroom.

Actually, that doesn't read like a SNL script, it reads *exactly* like a WWF/WWE/"wrestling" script. Manufactured drama, totally.

pretty sure it kills the lockerroom just by saying it whether it is true or false.

Yes but if he doesn't bring it up at all things would be fine.

I know people get on SVG, but he just doesn't seem like the type to straight up lie about something like that, other than saying he needed to spend some time with his family.

Regardless of who is or isn't at fault, the NBA can use way less Van Gundy.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed or if I am even posting this in the right area, but what do you think of this scenario as I am just throwing it out there.
Let's say the season ended today and the lotto went the way it was supposed to and we picked 4th. What would you trade to move up to number 1 to take A Davis??
Do you think this is a realistic option...Trade #4, one of our 2nd round picks, 2013 first (conditional, maybe lottery protected??), and Varejao??
Thoughts??

As someone point out to me earlier...
If you were the Bobcats or whoever is at #1...
Would you give up the best player in the draft for that?
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Whoever gets the first pick will not trade it. Period.

I've read guys on the cavs message board threw out Irvin straight up for Davis. That has to be the stupidest idea I've ever heard in my life.. Irvin is on the verge of becoming a superstar, why would you trade him for a maybe superstar.. While I agree a great center trumps all, you would be crazy to do a trade like that.

I might stop watching the Cavaliers if we trade Irving at this point. I don't see it happening for any deal.

It was pretty pathetic for Van Gundy to go to the media with this.. This pretty much ends their season, as this distraction will be too large for them to overcome.. In the end Van Gundy probably will be fired or will have to resign anyhow.. Just seems he wants to blame Howard before the end comes for him. Very Selfish move, by a coward in my opinion.. If true, Van Gundy should've kept this in house, and handled it in a more professional way.

I think management are the biggest idiots of all time. Why would you tell Van Gundy that Dwight wants him fired? What purpose does that serve?

Completely agree. That whole organization and Howard deserve each other forever.

By telling Van Gundy they have basically made it impossible to keep him and Howard... one of them now has got to go. And in the NBA, more than any other major sport, the great player usually wins this battle.

I just wonder how Van Gundy ever coaches in the league again. How can he go anywhere and have the support of the roster he takes over?
I have no doubt that it's been a rough few months for the guy knowing his "superstar" wants him out and therefore he WILL be out ASAP - but if you know about it and keep your mouth shut and deal with it... as opposed to throwing said player under the bus in the media... I think it shows tremendous strength. What he did was show tremendous weakness and I don't see how any player going forward - let alone GM's and owners - forget that.
I think Van Gundy sealed his fate to be a Bristol studio analyst forever yesterday.

There are very, very, very few "good" coaches in the NBA. Van Gundy is one of them. He will get a job somewhere.

Depends in what studio you're talking about. He has a face for radio.
I watched the video of him SVG making those comments, then Howard walks in.....ugh, talk about an uncomfortable situation. I would have given a lot to see what their next conversation was like. No wonder why they looked tired last night, they spent the better part of the afternoon yelling at each other.

Too bad they weren't able to unload Sessions until the deadline, him and Jamison really hurt this team in the loss column.

I'll tell you what .... I'm impressed with this Hudson kid so far.
If I'm Daniel Gibson, I'm worried that this kid might take my backup spot on the team. He has just been getting better and better on a team with fewer and fewer options.
23 points and 7 assists tonight ....... 9 points and 6 assists against Millwaukee, 12 points and 2 assists against San Antonio in just his 3rd game ..........
Maybe we found another diamond on the rough who can be a great bench player as we build the frontline players on the roster in the draft.

I know nothing about this Hudson, but what I do know is that Gibson is/should have been/always will be irrelevant to the future of this team. Guy can't stay healthy and provides nothing special when he is on the court. He's had a nice NBA run off of one spurt of productivity several years ago but it's past time to part ways.
The sooner I don't have to hear "Boobie's not available tonight because of a strained toe, or an ear ache, or a bruised calf, or an inflamed knuckle" the better.

Did he really say that he had a communications class? He was definitely an athlete ....... I don't know so much about the student part. Plus the whole "I'm gonna go wherever they pay me the most money" sure is a PR dream ............

Perhaps ...... but it is amazing how poorly so many college "student athletes" communicate.

He just looks like an awkward kid to me. Didn't he just turn 19?
At least he's not like LeBron, saying "man" every five seconds. Enough already, you're talking to Doris Burke.
I want the Cleveland Browns to be my pallbearers so they can let me down for the last time.

And the more I think about it, I suppose that it could be the venue as much as anything.
It's one thing for these guys to play a game they have played all their lives in front of hundreds or thousands of people ...... but it's another thing entirely to have to speak while trying to be funny and charming.
