Worked out for everyone, UNC got their guy, and Kansas ended up with Bill Self, who's a hell of a coach and perfect for that job.

lol, some people here try and argue with me that Illinois is a bigger job than Kansas and they don't understand why Self left for Lawrence.
Yeah, I know.
I think Illinois is happy with Groce, but I don't think he's the right guy for the job. Don't get me wrong, he's a good coach, and will do well in Champaign, but I though they should have gone with someone who is a heavy, heavy recruiter. The talent coming out of Chicago is so good right now, and they are getting none of it. Not Derek Rose, not Anthony Davis, they didn't get Evan Turner, and you can keep going on and on and on.

According to Vegas, Kentucky has an equal chance (+240) to win the game by 15+ points as Kansas does of winning the game...

oh no. Illinois is definitely not anywhere near as good a job as Kansas or UNC. I just thought it funny that those 3 were always linked when Self's recruiting classes were still at Illinois and mysteriously they vanished from the discussion and it was just about Self and Roy after that  that said, the Illini really have no excuse to not be a top4 team in the Big10. you mentioned the heavy hitters, but they are missing out on the next tier of guys out of Chicago too.

I celebrated the Hawks winning as much as I could. I've been a fan for 12 years and in my book, that counts. Plus, I've disliked the Red Wings since I started school in Toledo in 1991 (too many Detroit fans walking around campus)...that should make me an honorary member of the Hawks go even further back. After the Hakws Cup win I went to the parade, watched it from the street corner I work on. Great time.
In time, a Cleveland team will win and there will be much joy in Mudville. I've waited a long time already, what's a few more years. #Believeland (...I have to get me one of those shirts soon).
As for the game tonight, I'm hoping Kentucky wins. Something about Kansas that just irrates me. Plus, I'll win the ESPN DTMB Bracket Challenge ( LINK )

I have to admit, I moved to Chicago in May of 2004, and was a Red Wings fan coming in. Tampa won the finals and then the league went into lockout. When it came back, we started going to games to a half-filled stadium filled with true hockey fans. The tickets were 15 bucks and it was 10 to park. It was wondeful. We saw the Canadiens, the Maple Leafs, and few of the other Canadian teams we wanted to see. My girlfriend and I can also both say we were at Jonathan Toews first NHL game and saw his first NHL goal.
Once they brought hockey back, the Hawks started to bring in these younger guys, Keith, Seabrook, Sharp, and eventually Kane and Toews. So I kind of saw that 2010 team grow up. I think they're a good group of guys too. Other than Kane, most people I know around here say you couldn't meet a better group of pro athletes.
So I do consider myself a Hawk fan but I don't hate Detroit. I resepct them way too much, Yzerman is still my favorite player of all time, and I wish all my Cleveland teams were run as well as they are.
Sorry to derail this topic to hockey like I normally do, lol.
I think Kentucky spanks the hell out of Kansas tonight. I don't think Calipari is playing it up, but those kids know about what happened a few years ago when Self stole one from out beneath him.

Anybody who participates in this stuff should, at the very least least, be expelled from their school. All this does is take attention away from the team and its players... You know, the ones who were actually a part of winning the championship. Whenever I talk about the Stanley Cup Finals from last year, the first thing that comes to the mind of most is "Didn't Vancouver fans riot after they won?" They lost the series in 7. Granted, I'm in Florida, not exactly the hockey capitol of the world.
I want the Cleveland Browns to be my pallbearers so they can let me down for the last time.

I think that people who damage other people's stuff should face criminal prosecution. I think that students should be warned in advance that anyone who damages someone else's property willingly, (like tipping a car over) and/or sets a fire to "celebrate" and is caught will be immediately thrown out of school and have all of their credits earned cancelled. You want a college education at that point, start over at square one .... somewhere else ....... after you get out of jail.
I just don't get those who "celebrate" victory with destruction.

Was I imagining that Kentucky didn't even attempt to shake hands? I thought I caught Thomas Robinson breaking up the circle dance to go congratulate the UK players (huddled on the corner of the court). Classy move by Robinson (which I would expect nothing less from) but it looked pretty lame for Kentucky. A coach or someone should have grabbed those guys and got them in a handshake line. I understand they're college kids and they maybe get carried away but it didn't come off that great on TV. Congrats to Kentucky. I think the easy part was winning it. The harder part may be holding on to it.  I kid, I kid. Really impressed with how that team plays. It's really rare to have a team with that much talent and that much discipline.

Yeah, that never happened, I was under the assumption that we didn't cut down the nets.
Someone told me wrong.
I NEVER said I had a problem with cutting down nets. If we hadn't, I said I liked the attitude, but I don't care that we, or anyone else for that matter, cut down the nets.
What I do have a problem with is rushing the court/field.
Stop making things up.
And like I've said many times, I'll never defend the way some of the fans are acting, it's pathetic.

It was just an observation. I don't hate Kentucky or Calipari, it just struck me as odd.
They have every right to celebrate......I just found it a little tacky that Robinson, a member of the losing team, had to go out of his way to shake anyone's hand.

I'm on the other side of that, I think it's a little bad for a player on the losing team to go and try to shake hands during a celebration.
I understand the sportsmanship aspect of shaking hands after the game, but they just won a National Title, I'm sure shaking hands was the last thing on their minds.

I wish every sport did it the NHL way. Go and celebrate your title right away, of course, but then line up like men and congratulate the other team on a good game/series.
I'm not singling out Kentucky though, because you see it in all sports. MLB guys don't shake hands (although they are the biggest babies in all of sports, bar none)
The NFL and college football for the most part do a good job of it.

I gained a lot of respect for Bill Self as a coach last night. If/when Calipari goes to the NBA, I'd do whatever it took to try to get him away from Kansas.
I like that he said last night, "We didn't lose this game, they just beat us."
