Texas Rangers to serve up 2 foot long hot dog

ARLINGTON, Texas (Reuters) - As the Texas Rangers belt home runs this season, some fans may be loosening theirs.

The team is introducing the Great Dane of hot dogs: a 2-foot-long beast that busts the scales at one pound. The Texas-sized dog is also topped with sautéed onions, shredded cheese, jalapenos and chili and served with a side of French fries.

I thought it was $34. (and meant for 3 or more people, although the stadium does not pass judgement on those who decide to eat one alone)

I have no idea...I was just mocking stadium pricing in general. I should have used purple.

Sorry, it's $26. Shows what I get for trying to go from memory.

I wouldn't pay $26 for a porterhouse, much less a hot dog.

$26?!?!?! I could get a perfectly cooked steak with a baked potato and a side at a nice restaurant for that price. Stupid.

I would buy one for $12 max. Even then....I'd be mad at myself for buying a $12 hot dog, even it if was 1 pound.

I remember seeing like a $20 or $25 margarita at the house the Jerry built (which actually feels empty and unfinished... like the IX center) so I'm not surprised about the price on this dog.

When the Westward Ho! casino was still open in Vegas, you could get a 3/4 lb. hot dog for $0.99.

Well, how much is a pain old tiny hot dog at the stadium?

I have mentally blocked out the prices I paid for a Coke and a beer last time I went to a game. The pain was far, far too great.

+1 Nathans are my favorite. Well worth paying the extra dollar over Ball Park/Oscar Mayer IMO.

Not at the Ballpark in Arlington you're not. I've been there many times (when I lived in Fort Worthless). If you're feeding 3 people, $26 isn't all that much. You're paying under $9 for a dog and fries.

I had a Nathan's pretzel dog at NYNY in vegas and it was a top 10 experience of my life.

Got to admit that looks pretty tasty. Add some mustard slaw and dill pickle and it would be perfect.

I'd have to be absolutely hammered and elsewhere out my mind to want to eat all that, though. So basically, this is only doable if you have a DD. End of the day, I still'd go for a full, rounded out, tastier meal for my $24. Seriously, there's pretty much a footlong already hanging out the bun. Way to overcompensate, Texas...

I think you still can at Slots O Fun next to Circus Circus. One of the rare cheap casinos on the strip. Of course, it's a pretty big dive.

I think you can find even find $3 craps there.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Do they have dollar-dog night in Texas? If so, I might be buying some Ranger's tickets!

In fact, they do have promotions like that. Of course, when I was attending the games, you could get an upper deck ticket and they'd come by and offer to let you move down into the lower section so that the television broadcast didn't show the empty seats over the fences.

And, in fact, they still do have the dollar dog nights, the first one being April 11th against the Mariners.

You can check out all of the Rangers scheduled promotions here.
