With all due respect - and this in no way means I agree with mac - but, aren't you the same talent judge that called out Larry the Cable guy, saying he was a nothing, worthless, some kind of farmer's kid with no talent or skill?
Nope.
I said his act wasn't funny. I actually said that he (Dan Whitney) had done some decent work earlier in his career, but that that The Larry The Cable Guy persona catered to the lowest common denominator to the point where a great deal of his material wasn't even jokes, it was just statements meant to pander to a demographic.
Never said that he wasn't talented (he is), worthless (he's worth a lot) or a farmer's kid (he was a rich kid).
Just said that his 'Larry' act is pretty awful.

This tangent you're on here, however, is another story.
PDR...you want be the butt of someone's jokes...fine.
You want to associate yourself with the term "Factory of Sadness"...fine.
This Factory of Sadness thing...just what are you people wanting...someone to cry with you?...you want others to feel sorry for you?
This Factory of Sadness thing is not in my DNA...I can't help it if my mother and father promoted a positive attitude in us kids. Nothing positive about the term Factory of Sadness or the wimpy kid who makes some of you the butt of his jokes by dissing the team you claim to be a fan of.
It's. A. Joke.
Comedians spend a lot of time making fun of themselves, and people like them.
I'm not the butt of his joke. The joke is a tribute to Browns fans, much like his Cleveland Tourism videos are a comedic tribute to a town he clearly loves.
You're the one coming off like the wimp who's whining here.

I think this guy is pretty good, I get a chuckle out of these. The first one was really good, I had a good laugh with that one, as well as nodding in the fact that there was actual truth in a lot of it. Although, I have found this thread even more humorous.

What did I say about the wimpy dude that was not true?
Making a joke out of Browns fans and the city of Cleveland makes this dude a comedian?...at whose expense?
If Browns fans want to be used by this dude and support what he does at their expense, nothing anyone can do about it.
mac, allow me to pull out one of your old favorite lines here... What has he said that isn't true?
When the national sports media rags on the Browns its because they don't give us any respect.. people cry over it and hate ESPN over it and develop personal hatred toward specific broadcasters like Trent Dilfer over it... this guy mocks the Browns ineptitude and you call him names and then you call everybody who thinks he's funny names.. well if the Browns want some respect in the national media and if they want people like this to stop and if they want their fan base to feel positive... WIN SOME FREAKIN' GAMES!!!!!!

Doesn't almost all comedy pander to a demographic? And why is the mentality of the blue collar, working stiff, simple country people the "lowest common denominator"? You sound like an elitest snob.. no offense.
Comedy, just like music, physical beauty, etc.. is in the eye of the beholder. And I know everybody from Hopkins doctors to attorneys to engineers to priests to one 3 star General that think Larry the Cable Guy is pretty funny. I guess that makes us all part of the lowest common denominator. Whatever that means.
I went to a comedy club a few weeks ago to see Rob Schneider and some dude from Comedy Central, can't remember his name.. it was pretty funny.. Rob Schneider had a long bit about his new wife who is Hispanic.. made lots of the "differences between men and women" jokes.. made fun of hispanics, dude from Comedy Central had jokes about his girlfriend and the differences between men and women, he had a few jokes about gay people, he had a few jokes about religion.. so what is the difference between that and making fun of rednecks? They were all just statements and stories with a twist at the end designed to shock you a little and get you to laugh... and they were all making fun of a specific demographic... whether it was women, hispanics, gays, married people, Christians... or rednecks.
If you can't relate to LtCG and you think he isn't funny, that's fine, but don't tell me that I shouldn't think he's funny and that I'm somehow part of some lesser demographic because I do think he's funny.

No, your impotence is explained by your age, your drinking and your becoming numb from watching terrible football on TV.
Your importance, that's a different issue.

I've been around these boards a long time. I've defended you a lot, and other times I thought you were off the deep end a little.
But I'm pretty sure this is the dumbest stance you've ever taken that I can remember.
I'll say this one more time, and then I'm going to let it go:
It's a joke.
That guy is a Browns fan. He's a season ticket holder. It's a passion of his. He's also an aspiring comedian, who happens to be doing alright for himself. Like many comedians, he has combined his autobiographical pains/passions, and weaved them into comedy material.
He's not laughing at us, he's asking us to laugh with him.
You don't find it funny? That's fine. But don't go acting like a wimp and whining about how he's somehow sticking it to us while we're oblivious. We're in on the joke. You're the one who seems to have the comprehension problem.

mac, allow me to pull out one of your old favorite lines here... What has he said that isn't true?
DC...labeling the Browns or Browns stadium as a "Factory of Sadness", is not accurate and not true from my perspective as a Browns fan..there no freaking Factory of Sadness in my blood and I refuse to be like those of you who identify and support this Factory of Sadness crap.
It obvious to me we have some on this board that like to cry and whine when things don't go their way or if they face a tough situation...not a thing I can do about the people who are looking for sympathy as a Browns fan and who want to identify themselves with this wimpy dude's Factory of Sadness theme.
DC...you got your Factory of Sadness T-shirt yet?
The dude is trying to create a following and make a living at the expense of the Browns, Browns fans and the city of Cleveland... he is preying on the weak minded who likely never fought for anything worthwhile in their lives and are feeling sorry for themselves because the Browns have not won enough since 99.
So, to be clear, there is no Factory of Sadness within this Browns fan...not in my DNA...mom and dad did not raise any in our family to be wimpy, sobbing followers who fold at the first sign of adversity.
I suspect this "Factory of Sadness theme" is a generational thing, where the older Browns fans who go back to the 60s, 70s and 80s... in "no way" would allow themselves to identify with the "Factory of Sadness" theme.
It is a fact, with each passing generation, Americans become more sissified..softer, less willing to fight for a cause..weaker minded and easily swayed to following those who are like them.
I suppose it's the same situation when it comes to Browns fans...with each passing generation of Browns fan, they too become more likely to cry and whine when they don't get what they want...
...the Browns went 4-12...Browns fans cry, whine and pout...and demand a better record. ...the Browns don't get RGIII...Browns fans cry, whine and pout over that too.
These same fans, crying about not getting their franchise QB...are the same fans demanding that the Browns didn't win enough games in 2011. You have to wonder if they understand how the draft process works?
The reality is, if the Browns had won two less games in 2011...RGIII would have been the Browns pick in the 2012 draft...
...but could you imagine the tears and wailing from our "Factory of Sadness bunch", if the Browns had finished 2-14?
To have success, there must be sacrifice...
...and "NO", as Browns fans, we will be called upon to sacrifice more...YOU UP FOR THAT?

You must have too much time on your hands if you can get that worked up over a series of jokes. If you don't find it funny that's one thing, but telling other people they shouldn't is like saying they shouldn't like chocolate ice cream because only wimps like chocolate.

I don't totally disagree with eveyrthing you said... but first off this guy is a comedian who I'm not even sure he was the one who came up with the t-shirt... would I ever buy a factory of sadness t-shirt? No.. did I chuckle when I saw it? yes.. but this quote really got to me Quote:
...the Browns went 4-12...Browns fans cry, whine and pout...and demand a better record.
As a browns fan what are we suppose to do? Sit back and take it? We've been back since 99 and have had what? one playoff stent? two winning records? and the worst win/loss record since 99 in the NFL??
If I have the chance to 'cry' about it and demand a better record then I am...
I appreciate that it seems this FO is doing more than we have in the past... and I'm not going to cry about not getting RG3... but we had better start showing some more results on the field... because as a Cleveland fan we had better demand more because we deserve more... we use to be a powerhouse in Football... now all we are is a punch line..

Why do you keep saying things like "People who have never fought for anything"?
You gotta stop comparing sports to "real" issues, dude.
I've posted some ridiculous things when I've gotten worked up, everyone has, but how can you honestly go back, read what you're saying and not think to yourself "Man, I look like a fool"?

Well hell Mac,, that's perfectly ok to have that opinion.. it's yours and you are entitled to it.. Enjoy.
Here's the thing.. and it's something that should be taken into consideration.
This guy is a comedian. By making these videos he is promoting himself. Again, a perfectly reasonable approach to building up your audience. He may be doing this because he's a frustrated fan (hard not to be) but my guess is he's doing it to build his resume and draw attention to his act.
As for me, Im not all that excited about it. doesn't do it for me and for me, it's not really a factory of sadness but thats JMO..
But I can't begrudge the guy his opportunity for self promotion.
I hope, that once the Browns turn it around, he'll come up with some stuff that looking at them in a more positive light.. But I don't expect it because it probably won't attract as much attention.
In other words, don't worry about it..

mac must enjoy 4-12 5-11 5-11 4-12 Who knows what's next? Hell, maybe we'll get lucky and go 6-10 next year before we go 3-13 in 2013? The bottom line for me is this ..... I may not have any choice in it, but that doesn't mean that I have to happily accept losing each and every year after each and every stinking year. I want better, I expect better, but this is what we always seem to get. Yep, factory of sadness seems to cover it for me. The saddest part isn't even that I can't get out ...... it's that I don't want to get out. That was, obviously, shared by the guy who created the original "factory of sadness" video ...... and was why it hit home with so many people. mac can play the heroic figure, standing proud against the forces of ..... whatever he thinks he's standing against ...... but the bottom line is that he is not a bigger fan than those of us who are fed up with losing. In fact ..... and this plays on so many levels ....... I would say that we who want more for our team actually love it more ..... because we don't want to see it fail ....... and we aren't OK with it failing year after year and saying "Well that's ok, at least you tried ......" Wow does that play on a whole lot of levels.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

I'm not even kidding. This may be the dumbest argument I've ever seen on these boards. I say that without exaggeration - football, politics, you name it: this is quite possibly the most obtuse and idiotic argument I've ever seen on these boards. It's so ignorant I can't even understand the point behind it.
I think everyone involved in this thread is dumber for having participated.

A) He's earning a living as a comedian. So not only is it is claim ... but he is, in fact, a comedian.
B) We're talking about a comedy skit, so I think the fact that he's a comedian is quite relevant to the discussion.

It used to be that Browns fans were consider the best fans in football...NOT ANY MORE.
Browns fans used to be tough group, especially at the stadium...if someone stood up and said, this place is "A FACTORY OF SADNESS"...you better be ducking and running for cover, because a beer can full of beer was headed your way.
Browns fans have grown soft and weak...especially weak minded with a willingness to follow those who like to cry and complain because the Browns are seeing some tough times.
This thread is nothing more than evidence illustrating the fall and decline of "the Browns fan" ...
...from the once tough fan who supported their team "no matter what", giving Browns fans the reputation of "the Best Fans in Football"...
...just look at how far some of you have fallen...morphing into this sad group that promotes a "defeatist attitude" supporting the "Factory of Sadness" theme...looking for sympathy (I guess).
Serious question...how many of you used to associate yourselves with those tough Browns fans that were known as "the Best Fans in Football"?
To those of you who are defeated with no ability to see beyond the present day...when the Browns are once again winners, I will make it a point to remind you of your membership in and support of, "The Factory of Sadness".

So by calling the organization and team a joke you are weak minded and automatically less of a fan?
Sitting here embarrassed and ridiculed makes you a "tough" hard nosed fan?
What giant crock of crap.
That could be the most ridiculous things I have ever read here and that is saying something.

If someone stands up and says anything in the stadium these days, they'd be escorted out by security. If they threw a beercan, they'd be banned from the stadium for life. It's not the fans that have changed.

This thread is nothing more that evidence that the fans have put up with the crappiest run ever of Brown's football. When, in the entire history of this franchise....has there ever been such a stretch of apathy and ineptitude? Fans from previous eras wouldn't have put up with this crap any more than the current group. Like I said, nobody's jumping ship.

A question - do you have season tickets? Do you drive a 6 hour round trip 8 times per year to watch some of the crappiest football I have ever seen? Do you spend thousands and thousands of dollars on tailgating and tickets each and every year? To me, people that do this have more of a right to complain than anyone.
People are pissed, especially the ones funding this pathetic group of players put on the field year in and year out. The organization seems clueless - a real business run like this one would no longer be in business.
I will always be a Browns fan, but apparently a weak one. I agree it is a Factory of Sadness - how can you not?!? It's the truth and it is maddening. Call me out when we get better - that's fine. The ones saying this is a factory of sadness are not jumping ship; they are just voicing their OPINION on the current state of the organization.
We all want to win. Heck I'll take a .500 season at this point, and that is downright sad.

Not to pile on Mac, but you do know that Moe was not really poking Larry and Curly in the eyes in all those Three Stooges episodes, right? It was just overstatement or exaggeration - just as "Factory of Sadness" is. Its okay not to like the video, but the faux outrage is an over-reaction, imo. I heard a comedian on XM doing a sort of Seinfeld shtick - wondering out loud about things - he said: "Why is it with some people, that when you tell them you didn't like their favorite movie, they react as if you just called their sister a whore?". That's kind of what you sound like. Tastes vary; let it go.
