There are several OT's that can be had..but once again...it comes down to if they're there, will they pull the trigger..now let me pose this..say Alan Branch comes out..he's rated right up there with Thomas and both sit there when we select..who do U think Phil selects?

I would guess Thomas if for no other reason than another year of experience and maturity, but that's off the top of my head.

U think Thomas..and trust me I'm not debating U..but I wonder..the ONLY way I see Phil doing it is IF IN HIS MIND and his coaches, that Shaffer isn't the answer at LT.
If for any reason they think he's a solid OT..it won't happen unless Thomas is rated on his board just as high as anyone else sitting there.
If they can honestly come to that conclusion that Shaffer fits better on the right side(regardless of [color:"green"] $$$$$$$$$$ [/color] )then I can see him doing it..actually he BETTER do it.

So does this mean we can plan on you giving us all the intimate details of your life?

He's ill, he's done for the year, it's not a football related illness that's all we need to know. My prayers go out to him and his loved ones.

GM...this is the problem..we don't know his future right now.
Whatever is happening could affect him for years or not at all..
Just like Bentley , Phil has to move to shore up the right side.
From what I've seen Butler doesn't instill confidence that he's a future starter, and I actually prefer Dorsey at RT than Butler.
So just as I said Phil has to MORE to evaluate after the season .

WE may not know his future, but that does not mean that the Browns front office doesn't know.

Well regardless of whether he can come back or not..that RT spot is weak.
And even if he comes back...it could happen again.
His body is showing the wear and tear.He's on the downside of his career.
So a upgrade is going to be needed there also at some point in the near future.

I agree that the backup RT spot is week. If Ryan comes back we are still set there for another 3 years with him starting, but we need somebody to groom. However both of our starting guards need replaced before we worry about a backup RT.

No we don't need 5 linemen.
Whether Bentley comes back or not we have Fraley .
We have Shaffer.
He is either going to be the LT or be moved to RT.
If Rac/Phil are satisfied with Shaffer at LT , then it's a moot point.
I personally like Dorsey at RT either to take over for Tucker or be his backup.
That leaves 2 spots.
Druzzi should go to the bench.
Coleman is going.
Get one FA guard to replace Druzzi.Draft another .
Sowells unknown factor but brought in to compete for starter spot in 07.

The definet max is 4 not five. I think Shaffer will either be LT or RT period.

Hopefully LCB comes back healty (PLEASE). I think he would play anywhere coming back to help make up for his loss this season.

you dont wanna know why one of our best players isnt going to be on the field for the rest of this season? and as for the whole year being over thing, you know full well we have nothing left to play for except future jobs.

the man gets paid millions to represent us on the field playing a game. if he cant do his job why cant those with whom he basically pays him let us know why. i dont care if a ford worker cant go to work for a month but somebody who in some way works for the public cant, it should be known.

Isn't that contradicting what you said in the other thread or something close to refuting those of us who suggest to do that, ESPECIALLY if Tucker can't come back?

I'm not a contract lawyer.. but I'm pretty sure his contract doesn't say a word about representing you or any fan... if the fans don't show up, he still gets paid...

He gets paid to put his body through a meat grinder so we can get entertainment from it. It's nobodies business but his own and for the life of me I can't see how you can think any different. The man is obviously not up to playing and he shouldn't have to answer to any of us. I'm sure the Browns know about it and they seem to have no problems.

It's none of our damn business why he's out for the rest of the season. So what you are insinuating is that if for whatever reason you get put on medical leave the rest of us should call your boss and tell him "we have to know why you can't work"? There is such a thing as giving a person a little privacy in a non football related injury/illness . So let it go man.

The Browns have to follow federal laws, such as HIPPA, which states in a nut shell, your medical information cant be used against you, and your information cannot be made public by anybody except for you, or if you sign your privecy to that information over to somoeone. So It's not the Browns who are keeping it quiet, it's Tuck himself,

I ask you this, does what he has or his problem make him any less of a person, or any less of a human who's intitled to his right and those right are to keep it to himself, or to expose his family or children to the media fenzy which always follows, Bottom line Tuck is a Dad and a husband first, a football player second.

Is your life gonna change so drastically if you know or not ever no, what wrong or will it remain the same reguardless

I think its human nature to be curious about his condition and don't see anything wrong with that, but don't feel anyone "owes" us an explanation of it. I respect his privacy but would also be interested in knowing what is wrong with him because its such a strange situation, hopefully its not too serious.

Romeo said a announcement would be made in a couple days, so this "mystery" will be solve then; he also said Ryan plans on playing again; so thats a good sign. <img src="/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

no its not THAT big of a deal. but i mean common alot of fans gotta wanna know why one of our most solid players cant play. im glad you brought up HIPPA. so its pretty obvious we're not gunna find out. its not like im mad or anything people, but common, dont tell me you dont wanna know

It's none of our business, man. If Tucker chooses to keep it up himself, I don't blame him a bit.

Just because fans "pay his salary" don't mean a thing. I help pay the salary of the guy at the local Qwik Mart - if he has a medical problem, do I need to know about it?

I hope Tuck is OK, that's all I care about.

tucker is one of my favorite players ont the browns, and has been since i first went to training camp. he has always been one of the nicest players, saying that everyone will get an aughtograph because he has nothing better to do. whatever the illness is; it is none of our bussines what it is. i will keep him in my prayers.

Sure we want to know, but you have to nix the idea Tucker in some way works for us.....he doesn't. That is like saying your Colonel works for us and needs to tell us the fort's deployment plans.

You also have to consider the issues of privacy.

As many of you know, I have been Tuck's biggest supporter for years. Obviously, I'm very sad about this.

While most of you have taken the high road in this thread, why is it that the few insensitive posts are the ones that I keep thinking about?

For the same reason you don't dwell on the millions of kids who love their dogs and think about the few who tie dogs up and leave them on train tracks.....you have a heart.

I'm not all that interested in the intimate details of your life and just because Tucker's paid well doesn't mean we own him.

If he doesn't want to share his private information it's NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.

Whatever his illness I hope he gets better... Broken bones are easier to cure then whatever his illness is... I hope his life isn't at risk.

Tucker doesnt work for the public. He works for the Browns/NFL. He is a person who is entitled to privacy at some level. I mean, its not like you can even go out to dinner and a movie without people stopping you. You don't care to tell anyone anything about you because when you walk down the street none of us would know you from the next guy.

We are not entitled to any medical condition info.....

The flip side is that team doctors either are aware or should be aware of the nature of the illness simply to quell any concerns of contagious disease concerns.
