This thread is for those players who don't get the hype like some projected 1st-2nd players do. This is for players you think aren't rated super high, but could potentially become a superstar. Guys who are ranked around the 4th round or lower.
My guy is Marvin McNutt, WR out of Iowa. Most sites have him projected in the 4th round. I look at this guys tape and am amazed how he moves for his size (6'3). He is a deep threat, but what impresses me the most is his ability to get YAC after the catch. In my eyes he's a future star.
But if I had to pick one, Brandon Brooks OG Miami, OH. It sounds like he'll go 75-100, but I see a future Pro Bowler at Guard. I think he could play RT at a high level, too. He is the same size as Cordy Glenn. I have never seen an OG dominate a game like he did at the E/W Shrine Game. His pro day only made him look better when he scored elite OL times in all the measurables:
Brooks was considered by many scouts to be ‘the’ snub of the NFL Combine. He has been flying under the radar almost all year long but his performance at the East-West All-Star game was dominant and his numbers show you that he would of ranked among the best OG’s at the combine. Next to his number you can see where Brooks would of ranked amongst OG’s per drill had he gone to the Combine.
As of right now you’re looking at Brooks as a Day 2 prospect who is probably going to go somewhere in Round 3. Some team may try and sneak him into the tail end of Round 2, but OG’s values are typically lower.
Isn't a darkhorse sleeper kind of redundant? Like the frozen tundra or ATM machine?
Anyway, I like the idea.
I am going to go with a guy named Andrew Luck. Not many people know about this guy, but I think...Wait, what!?!?
Travis Lewis is my guy. A linebacker who started all four years at Oklahoma. Probably would be a higher pick, but was plagued by injuries his senior year.
see Landry Jones before the Broyles injury and after the Broyles injury for further confirmation. He's Wes Welker.
also, he is likely a PUP candidate. if we end up selecting 9-10 guys, then it would be nice to be able to use one on someone we can safely stash for the first 6 weeks of the season without using a roster spot (and who has a high ceiling obviously)
a. We trade for future picks in 2013, hopping a round or two in the process. b. We look for one or two injury fliers like Broyles...
I wouldn't mind if we redshirted the guy, I just desperately want him on my team.
And if the Browns don't get him please please please don't go to another team in the AFC North. I don't want to be watching him on the Ravens or Stillers.

I really like TL.
He put on like 18 lbs before the combine and I think he lost some speed, because of the extra lbs. He was considered to be on the light side at 228 lbs, so I think that he wanted to show that he can carry more weight, but it kinda backfired on him. He is a real instinctive LBer and very good in coverage too.
Only 1? I dunno if I can pick only one darkhorse...
If I have to pick only 1 late round gem:
Cyrus Gray RB 5'10⅜" 206 Texas A&M
Bit of a homer pick being that I'm an Aggie, but I really like this guy. He's not elite at anything, but he's good/great at everything. He has great vision to find the holes, he follows his blockers well, he can run between the tackles or around the edges, he can catch the ball well, and he ran the 40 in 4.45.
Other guys that I like in 4/5/6/7th rounds: Levy Adcock OT 6'6" 322 Oklahoma State (Could play OG or T for the Browns) Kheeston Randall DT 6'4½" 297 Texas (great DT depth for the Browns) Nigel Bradham OLB 6'1" 241 Florida State (Would be great depth with potential to start in year 2/3) Chase Ford TE 6'6" 258 Miami (FL) (Big Gronk type TE that can catch well) Asa Jackson CB 5'10" 191 Cal Poly (good depth for CB, could be a starting #2 CB across from Haden) Greg Childs WR 6'3" 215 Arkansas (Probably a 5th round pick, but great size and speed)
I've got a lot of late round guys I like... so I will just list a few.
QB - Aaron Corp, Richmond WR - Danny Coale, Virginia Tech, been on his bandwagon since beginning of season as a mid to late. O/ILB - Miles Burris, San Diego State - can't believe some rate him as a late rounder (6/7), think he is more 3-5 range, at worst. OLB - Sammy Brown, Houston RB - Nate Eachus, Colgate - big-time darkhorse, just like his athleticism and determination running the ball. OG - Joel Foreman, some injury concern near end of season, but tied for MSU start record in career, and 1st team big10 can't be all that bad, for a late rounder.
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).
If he can overcome his shoulder injuries from 2010 and 2011, he could be a force in the league. He was dominant in 2009 - if I recall he only gave up 1 or 2 sacks. If he didn't have the shoulder injuries, I think he'd be in the same conversation as Reiff and Martin, probably even Kalil. But, the reality is that he was injured twice, and he'll go in round 4 or 5 probably. Would love to grab him with our first 4th rounder...
I'll say BJ Coleman, QB Chattanooga...he has the skills beyond where he played. He started at Tennessee and got caught up in the Kiffin deal. He was recruited way above and beyond UTC.
In our terms.....he's as good as Colt at minimum.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

If we don't Draft one earlier, then I wouldn't mind using the pick we got from Denver for BQ (#160).
I've been on Brian Quick's bandwagon since last yr. Also both FL running backs. They'll go 4th or later but will return on the investment. Both football players IMO.
"The medium for the bad news was ESPN, which figured. The network represents much of what is loud, obnoxious and empty in sports today."
I don't know many small school QB's that had a career sub 60% completion percentage and had a 9TD/9INT (26/13 the season before...still way too many INTs for that level) ratio their SR season that amounted to anything in the NFL
I'll throw another name in here: DE Cordarro Law....undersized (6'2) but was very productive for 3 years at Miss. State...this guy had 4 forced fumbles each of the past 3 seasons, 14, 11.5 and 22 TFL and 7.5, 5.5 and 9.5 sacks... it doesn't get more consistent than that....he's currently listed at 361st on nfldraftscout, which is an UDFA grade but I would love to take him with 1 of our comp picks at the end of the 6th or 7th
I'll never understand why morons like Paige-Moss are valued higher than consistent on and off field guys like Law...same applies to Fresno St. DT Logan Harrell, who's been 1 of the best DT performers in CFB the past 2 seasons

A kid that really impressed me that pass couple years i haven't heard anything about.
Tank Carder LB from TCU... I think he's gonna be a stud at LB. I'm not saying he's gona be a 1st rounder but he would be a great lower/mid round draft choice.
