Jesus, lol
Where did I say that?....it was a reply to your "argument" that teams with rookie QBs pick in the Top 10 again (thinking the verdict whether it makes sense to draft a QB high shouldn't come after his rookie season, right?)...that's why I gave you Top 10 picked QBs that are in the league longer than just their rookie season...and most of THOSE teams don't seem to draft in the top 10 anymore, that was my point...no rookie QB will turn around a team completely in their rookie season, you need a larger sample size, every idiot knows that, that's why I made that sarcastic comment...Newton has turned around the Panther's Offense but their team is still a bottom 3rd team because of their D btw but he's an exception...even BigBen was carried his rookie season...it's common sense and really not worth stressing
I really don't feel like going through all the shortcomings Colt has, as it's been discussed to death around here...summed up: he simply isn't even above AVG in any important aspect of QB play imho....you pretty much cited yourself what I already thought: you have faith and believe in him...that's perfectly ok, but chances are he won't be 1 of those exceptions as he has no make up ability in his game...the rest I consider excuses...sure, a playbook and regime switch doesn't help any young player but the NFL isn't the training ground for borderline talent, you get thrown in at some point...and then you better be able to swim or you'll sink...for some reason the same excuses does not get thrown around so often when it comes to young players at other positions

Here's the other sink or swim alternatives to the supply and demand handing us Colt McCoy:
Cam Newton's team is 6-10 (the 1st overall pick wasn't on our doorstep) Christian Ponder's team is 3-13 (never saw him as 1st round material) Sam Bradford's team is 2-14 (the first overall pick wasn't on our doorstep Josh Freeman's team is 4-12 (we could have drafted him in rd 1 but nobody lost sleep not doing it) Blaine Gabbert's team is 5-11 (we beat them, I didn't think he was upper 1st round material) Jake Locker's team was led by another QB because he wasn't ready to play as a rookie.
I guess I need to include the Jimmy Clausen that we didn't draft in round 2 as an alternative to Colt McCoy. That was the starter in Carolina who helped that team gain the worst record in football to place Cam Newton on their door step.
I'll go through many other starters in the league beside those above: Tom Brady - wore blue jeans to his first 16 NFL games as a New England Patriot. Peyton Manning - was 3-13 in his first 16 starts Aaron Rodgers - started 1st game in the 4th year of his NFL career Drew Brees - didn't start 1 game as a rookie and his team was 4-12 in his 3rd season Matt Hasselbeck - didn't start 1 game until 3rd year and went 5-7 with a 70 passer rating Kevin Kolb - didn't start 1 game as a rookie or 2nd year player Tarvaris Jackson - started 2 games as a rookie with a 62.5 passer rating Jay Cutler - went 2-3, then 7-9, 8-8, 7-9 - Plummer was in AFC Championship 1 year before JC Matt Cassell - no starts until season #4. Matt Schaub - started 2 games in his first 3 years and lost then both Ryan Fitzpatrick- started 3 games in his first 3 years and lost all 3. Matthew Stafford - landed on injured reserve in each of his first 2 years. Rex Grossman - 4-3 in his first 3 years while Kyle Orton won 9 consecutive game replacing him. Tony Romo - didn't play a single down in 2004 or 2005 in Dallas and went 6-4 in his 3rd year. Philip Rivers - didn't start 1 game until his 3rd season.
Not seeing where you find QB to be as easy as any other position to learn. Going to crappy teams only complicates the challenge and increases the growing pains whether it's Steve Young or Troy Aikman or Drew Brees. These aren't excuses. I'm sharing what happened when they went to chaos and turnover early on. They didn't have the experience or surroundings to where they could just show up and make everyone around them better immediately.
As for the other positions, all a kid like Clay Matthews had to do was sic em, sock em, and sack em. All a kid like Casey Hampton once had to do was throw 340 pounds around at the Nose Tackle position. Corners come equipped with instinct. Joe Thomas didn't need extensive coaching or need to know what everyone else was doing in the offensive playbook. He just had to be the best athlete on the oline taking on the best defensive athlete on the opponent's dline. All a kid like Chris Johnson had to do was to see the field, read the blocks and turn on the jets. AJ Green showed up playing exactly like the top receiver drafted should play regardless of jump balls in traffic, fades, rainbows or alley ooops thrown.
