People don't show up because the Dolans have already done the damage, and driven them away.

I think people are reluctant to take their families down there and pay money into the Dolan's pockets. They'd rather watch on TV, which I'm sure still puts money into their pockets, but it's not the 50-100 you'd drop at a Tribe game with the fam.

Why else would people not show up? It's not like there is playoff basketball going on. Fans aren't dumb.

and, even when the team is in 1st place, people still don't show up. it's why I think the team will move. the situation is toxic in the city (and yes, a big part of that blame goes on the FO/ownership too - but let's not leave the fans out of the blame party).

Why though? The Dolans aren't losing money. They're pocketing every year just like the Royals and Pirates do. No reason to move.

the Indians have rarely been among the clubs that actual get a piece of that luxury tax pie. I don't think the Dolan's are making the $$ you think they are.

but, this discussion just goes back to what I said. the situation is toxic. it might be beyond repair. and that is why I think it could lead to a move.

Its not beyond repair, there is a simple solution. Dolans sell the team.

and my point on that is be careful what you wish for. SD sold their team recently, fans got all excited that the new owners were going to splurge, but the economic realities were that they couldn't in that market. so, fans still are upset at "the owner"

and when the Dolans inevitably sell, they could very well do so to a partnership with an eye on moving the team to a more desirably location. Portland and SA are the ones that jump off the map to me, but there are plenty of other locales that could potentially support a team as well.

The Indians ain't movin man. Not in this lifetime. I doubt MLB would let a charter member of the league just pick up and move to Portland where they won't support them there either.

Florida and Oakland were constants in the lowest attendance dept for YEARS. Both are still around and one of them just got a brand new stadium.

Low attendance does not equal team moving. The Dolans are making money. If they weren't believe us we'd be hearing their sob story.

Oakland is begging to get to move to the San Jose/Santa Clara region. SF has blocked their efforts to this point.

Miami is only viable because they got that new ballpark deal and expected it to help their attendance. Without it, they would be among the teams talked about relocating.

Moving the A's to San Jose in their current situation now would be like moving the pre-Jacobs field Indians from the Muni to a beautiful new state of the art ball park in Akron.

no, more like Columbus. It's an hour drive without traffic but there's always major traffic on those routes. and, if Columbus had infinitely more wealthy individuals compared to Cleveland (silicon valley and all for San Jose).

if you want to believe the Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, etc. make less money per year than the Indians, then I don't know what to tell you.

we might have an idiot owner, but there's no way the team gets moved.. It's not like we don't have a fanbase, they just don't support this guy.. You look at the teams that have moved in recent memory. The expos have been the only team, that I could remember in my lifetime, I am 31.. Mlb would force Dolan to sell before they moved the Indians. Just like they did with the Dodgers.

We don't... look at the revenue numbers (Indians are 26th). It isn't even close. However, those clubs' operating expenses dwarf our expenses in commensurate fashion. Fact is, the Dolans took in $30 mil. before taxes. That's a tidy profit.

Having said that, $30 mil doesn't buy you much against the off-the-hook MLB "salary scale".

i'm also talking profit not revenue. just because the Yankees, Red Sox, etc. choose to hide their profits in YES, NESN, etc. doesn't mean they aren't making the money.

also, those numbers in Forbes have been highly disputed on a bunch of sites and the operating revenue cited is not truly a "profit" number either.

Pfft... Bottom line: the Dolans make plenty of money off of the Indians and there is no reason to believe they would even sell the team (much less move them).

So long as the Indians remain profitable, attendance figures just won't matter all that much.

Last two games against a horrible KC Royals team that had lost 12 straight, with a win putting us in first place:

2 of 16 with Runners in Scoring Position.

That is what you call clutch hitting, my friends.

7-2 road trip was an aberration. I just can't see this team hitting over the course of 162 games. Hope I'm wrong, but I think they are going to lose a lot of games, 4 to 1,2 or 3.

well, no we won't get to face the Royal's pitching staff, Hannahan won't hit like a middle-of-the-order guy, and Hafner won't hit like a MVP-candidate the whole year.

but, we could have "just enough" hitting and just enough pitching. we need to take care of the bad teams, which we have done so far. then, we need to split against the good teams, which we haven't yet.

That was a good win tonight. That would've sucked to lose that game when masterson pitched so well and the indians were hitting weaver.

On a side note, Pomeranz is pitching pretty well for Colorado after a bad first game. I hope we don't regret that trade.

Anybody want to bet that Pujols gets a homer today? I just have a feeling we'll be the ones that end his power drought.

With that being said, I still think we'll win the series.

Go Tribe! FIRST PLACE!

Not to hate on your Tribe, but I hope so. I didn't draft him to be a .225 hitter with 4 RBI's and no dingers after a month. #fantasybaseballproblems.

haha

So I'm trying to listen to the Indians game on my iPod touch and it looks like I heart radio has the game blacked out on wtam 1100 and the MLB at bat app apparently doesn't work on my version iPod touch.

I'm looking to listen to games over the Internet, cheaper than the 20 bucks MLB. Com apparently charges, free would be nice. Any ideas?
Thanksees

Yeah you can't stream any pro games over free internet radio. At-bat will only work if you paid for one of the mlb.tv services.

20 bucks for the whole year ain't all that bad.

Just found the game on fox, kinda surprised me. It wasn't on the channel guide.
