Draft team needs: Cleveland Browns - NFL, NFLDRAFT - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/story/18674638/draft-team-needs-cleveland-brownsBad enough that the Cleveland Browns were awful last season, losing nine of their final 10 games. But they were lifeless, too, eclipsing 14 points in that span just once ... in a 23-20 loss to Cincinnati. New coach Pat Shurmur was supposed to revitalize the Browns, but they won fewer games and scored fewer points than the 2010 club that got Eric Mangini cashiered. Granted, five of their final seven defeats were by no more than six points, but you don't impress anyone by being close -- not when you haven't made the playoffs in eight years. So the heat is on Shurmur and the organization to demonstrate they're on the right path; that they know how to make the Browns interesting, complete and successful ... and good luck. They're in a division with three playoff teams, and the only thing that seems for sure there is that Cleveland is fourth-best. Again. QB: Colt McCoy returns as the starter, with the Browns saying they have complete confidence in him. Not so fast. It was the Browns who pushed Washington in the RG3 Sweepstakes, with St. Louis eventually dealing its first draft choice -- second overall -- to the Redskins. Shurmur says he supports his quarterback, but there better be more progress with McCoy than there was a year ago. He didn't throw many touchdown passes, his completion percentage declined and the Browns couldn't find the end zone with a GPS. That wasn't McCoy's fault. The guy has no playmakers around him. But he should heed the warnings attached to that flirtation with Robert Griffin III. Seneca Wallace returns as the backup, but the Browns could use a young QB to start grooming, and maybe it happens in the middle of this draft. RB: Let's get this one out of the way up top: The running game stinks and has stunk for most of the time since the Browns returned to the NFL. Last year was no exception, with Cleveland ranked 28th in rushing and 21st in yards per attempt. Peyton Hillis is gone, which leaves Montario Hardesty and Chris Ogbonnaya as the top two backs -- and, yes, that's a problem. It's the primary reason most mock drafts have Trent Richardson penciled in as the Browns' first choice at the fourth overall spot. Richardson is one of the most gifted players in this draft, and the Browns need gifted running backs like Levi needs Strauss. WR: People tell me that McCoy isn't the answer at quarterback, but how can anyone make a judgment based on the talent -- or lack of it -- around the poor guy? Receiver is no exception, with Greg Little the best of a mediocre bunch. Mohamed Massaquoi, who suffered a concussion for the second straight season, and special-teams star Josh Cribbs complete the top three, and let's be honest: There's not a franchise wide receiver in there. But there could be with the Browns' second pick, 22nd overall. If there's one thing Cleveland needs as much as someone to carry the ball, it's someone to catch it. It had its chance a year ago but passed on Julio Jones when Atlanta made it an offer it couldn't refuse. Now it needs to find that talented wideout -- and fast. TE: Some of the most reliable sets of hands are at this position, with Benjamin Watson and Evan Moore two of McCoy's favorite targets. That's the good news. Now the bad: Both finished the season on injured reserve, with Watson's catches dropping from 68 to 37. Alex Smith is a decent reserve, but he's coming off a shoulder injury. OL: The Browns have three offensive linemen -- Joe Thomas, Alex Mack and Jason Pinkston -- who didn't miss a snap in 2011. In fact, they haven't missed a snap in their pro careers, while guard Shawn Lauvao played 95 percent of the snaps last season. So that's good. But this isn't: Pinkston leaked too often in pass protection, allowing a team-high 10 QB hits, according to Profootballfocus.com, while Lauvao committed a club-high 11 penalties. The right side of the line is the concern, with Oniel Cousins taking over at right tackle -- and now you understand why the Browns are looking at Matt Kalil. Though the Southern California star was at left tackle his final two seasons in college, he has played on the right side -- and coupling him with Thomas would give the Browns bookend tackles capable of protecting McCoy. Cleveland needs depth here, as well as a right tackle. DL: With the additions of free agents Frostee Rucker and Juqua Parker, the Browns think they're set at defensive end. Rucker would start on the right side, while Jabaal Sheard -- who led the team with 8½ sacks -- starts on the left. Parker would be a backup. The Browns think they're set inside, too, where Philip Taylor was impressive before wearing down in his rookie season, but they ranked 30th vs. the run -- and that must improve. If there's a need here it's for more depth. LB: D'Qwell Jackson was one of the year's best feel-good stories, with the middle linebacker returning from two lost seasons to lead the team in tackles and finish second to Detroit's Matt Stafford in Comeback Player of the Year voting. Scott Fujita is one outside linebacker, but he finished on IR for the second straight season, and with him turning 33 this month you have to wonder about his durability. Chris Gocong can play either outside spot ... and did last season after Fujita was hurt, with Kaluka Maiava taking over for Gocong. Depth has been an issue here in the past, and it is now -- with Cleveland looking for someone with speed on the outside. DB: New secondary coach Tim Hauck takes over a unit that excelled last season, with Cleveland the league's second-ranked pass defense. Cornerback Joe Haden is the top defensive back, often locked on the opponent's best receiver, while Sheldon Brown makes up for his lack of speed with experience. Safety T.J. Ward comes off a foot injury that kept him out of most of last season, while Usama Young replaces Mike Adams at free safety. Dimitri Patterson is an effective nickel back, and Buster Skrine, while raw, has so much speed he could one day replace Brown.

In some form or another that's what everyone needs! They named EVERY position on the field!
Shuffel the order and insert another team name and you have any franchises draft!

This certainly seems to run contrary to the other OLine stat site that's out there. I thought Lauvao had been called alot more so this seems right to me. That being said, neither of these sites I trust all that much.
Pretty straight assessment here that I doubt many could argue with. Only thing I kinda cringe at is the idea of Usama Young as a starter. Dude cannot tackle.

LOL anoher predraft article telling us what we need..
The ones I get kick out of are the ones that say,, Team X needs a QB and since QB Y will be there when they pick, they predict they'll grab him.
It doesn't actually matter if QB Y is worthy of the pick number...LOL.. I get a kick out of it kinda.

Mutt and d-shot...
For every team, they list the status of each position, and how big of a priority it is for that team. In fact, this write-up is much more charitable towards colt than most other draft preview articles. I thought it was at least as good as any other resource.

They named every position and how the position sits prior to the draft.
They listed DL as a position that would only be drafted for depth most likely. I think that's accurate. I don't see us taking a TE this year, but QB, OL, RB, WR, OLB, CB, and S ...... yep ..... I see needs at every one of those positions.

I think it's a reasonable assessment of where we are but saying we could use Richardson, Blackmon and Kalil is pretty obvious, they might be the 3 best players in the draft after the top 2.. but we can only have one of them... so the question becomes how do we fill all 3 of those positions with the best possible value with #4, #22 and #37...

People need to come back down to earth !!!. In poles on the NFL.com site and Espn.com, over 73% of all those surveyed said the Redskins way overpaid for RG III and I agree. People on the board wanted the Browns to top that, it would have been the WORST move they would have made, since returning to the league by FAR and away. We are at least 8, if not more starters shy of being a playoff caliber team. If we traded away the next 3 drafts for one guy, we STILL would NOT have a winning season. If we had, the Mannings, Brady, Breeze, Cutler and two more QB's on our current team, we would STILL be LOSERS. We need ORT, OFG, 2 WR, RB, TE and depth. On the "D" side we need OLB, CB, S, pass rusher, depth and special teams help. Once all these holes are filled, THEN we can consider taking a QB by trading away draft picks, NOT until. We need a good draft this year and next to be in the playoff hunt. With the problems of the CBA contract of last season, this is like a year and a half of improvment, I don't expect to be in the playoff hunt until the 2014 season at the soonest. Just being realistic and patient.

You feel it would have been a mistake. I disagree. I think that finally having the QB position settled with a high caliber talent would have improved the team more than any receiver, tackle, or running back will do. A great QB raises the play of those around him. He won't make crappy players great, but he will make so-so players good, and good players great. That's why so many receivers leave teams as free agents and bomb elsewhere playing with some schlub QB. Receivers don't make QBs, QBs make receivers.
Right now we have a crappy QB who does very little at all well. This holds back other positions on offense. It's like when we had a horrible OL with Charlie Frye, with Frye being sacked 5 times in less than a half against the Steelers. Man, those guys suck!
Then DA comes in and he is sacked a total of 14 times the rest of the year. Bad QB play affects the offense more than any other single player affects the QB.
Anderson was able to make pre-snap reads and get the ball out immediately. McCoy wouldn;t know a pre-snap read if it bit him in the ass. He is an awful NFL QB, and the sooner we move on to a real QB the sooner this team can become a successful NFL team again.
As far as needing other positions ... yes we do ... but as we saw this year, the QB spot is, by far, the hardest to fill. It's not going to get easier in the future.
The most discouraging thing is that I see some people who profess confidence in the front office and coaching staff saying that maybe we can lose most of our games so we can get a QB next year. There are no guarantees about next year. None. If we lose 14 games this season, this whole front office could be gone. They better start not only playing a whole lot better immediately, but they better start winning ..... because that's the name of the game in the NFL. It's win ..... or else the NFL means Not For Long.
We will never be in the playoff hunt with a lousy QB. It's just not going to happen. The Steelers and Ravens have much better defenses than us right now, and they also have better QBs. How will we jump either of them with a poor QB? Hell, the Bengals have a better defense and QB than we do .... plus just as many draft picks.
We need a QB desperately. We need a great QB more than we need any other 3 positions. Unfortunately, we are stuck with what we had last year under Center, and stuck may become sunk for this regime if McCoy drags the team down again.

I would say that Brandon Jackson is our top RB at the moment. Funny how the media never mentions Jackson, but Heckert is quick to point that fact out though

We really need to grab 2 RB in this draft that is extremely deep with quality backs.

I think we could, but the 2nd back would be Rainey and I would move him to WR/RB//// LOL.

Ytown, I have seen you say this countless times and then poo poo all over our QB. Maybe you don't think so but Bradford was considered by many to be a Franchise Caliber QB and his selection at 1 confirms that. Can I ask how this great QB with Steven Jackson behind him made his receivers or team better? I'll answer that..He didn't. How about Blaine Gabbert who was thought by many to be the best QB last year..How did he make Jacksonville's Receivers and team better? Once again, he didn't. How about Aaron Rogers in that Playoff game? When he was being pressured and his Receivers couldn't catch a cold? That's right, he looked rather ordinary didn't he. When you can start thinking in terms of all the workings that go into an offense and what transpired last year you might be able to see the big picture but to you the end all be all is QB and nothing else. Amazing that they trotted Brian Robiskie and MoMass out there last year and as soon as they released Robiskie and gave his reps to Little you started seeing production from that spot. Do teams always outright release starters in the middle of the season? I will say it again..If you gave McCoy a running game, better pass protection and AJ Green and Little, we wouldn't be having this discussion. If you put Dalton on the Browns last year we might have gone 0-16.

With 13 selections (yeah, I know they won't all pan out and make the team), we should be able to fill more than a few of those holes.
I fully expect that Heckert & Co, will go heavy on the offensive side of the ball. I can see them taking Richardson with the #4 pick or trading back to acquire even more picks and trying to grab Michael Floyd and Stephen Hill with their two first rounders and getting the highest rated RB still left on the board at the #37 spot.
If they make a trade back, I don't think they'll want picks in next year's draft, they'll want them this year. And I can see them trading mid round picks for additional picks next year, a round or two ahead of where they are now. That is, for example, the Browns giving up a 5th round pick this year (almost like a late 4th) to acquire a 4th rounder next year or even a 3rd rounder next year (if the team receiving the Browns pick makes the playoffs or some stipulation like that).
I wouldn't even be surprised to see some Browns players moved during the draft with similar stipulations.
The Browns could make packages of picks (excluding the compensatory picks, of course) to move up also. Our two fourths for a 3rd and a 5th or something like that.
I think it's a foregone conclusion that the Browns will be doing some wheeling 'n dealing during the draft. With whom and where is yet to be determined.

I think McCoy was sabotaged by the following in 2011
1. Unlearning whatever Daboll was trying to run to trying to learn whatever Shurmer was trying to install in a short amount of time. Inept offensive schemes in his 1st 2 years
2. No running game to keep the defenses honest. here was the Browns typical play series last year. 1st down run for 2 yards 2nd down incomplete throw dropped pass..penalty Lavaou holding 3rd down pass to Little for 5 yards punt,
the trick is,if you can't run the ball,,you can't do play action on 1st down where teams get their "chunk" plays...
3. Browns WR's couldn't seperate on a consistant basis.
4. Drops by the TE's/WR's on a regular basis.
5. A playbook that could have been condensed. Too much to learn in a short time

It wouldn't let me edit but I just wanted to add. So would you say DA made Edwards and Winslow who they were or did they make DA? Remember DA went to the Pro Bowl.

How many 1st round picks did each of these teams give up to get each one of these better QBs? 3 1sts and a 2nd rounder right? Each one of these teams drafted each one of these better QBs with the first or second pick in the first round? WE GET IT, YOU DON'T LIKE COLT McCOY as the Browns QB. Tannehill at 4 for you right? Has to be. I have seen so/so QB's win that were not top of the 1st round drafted but then again it can't be cause you say so. I don't think Colt is taking the Browns to the superbowl (hint: I also don't think he is that great of a QB) but don't see a point in giving up way to much to get one guys that could or could not turn this team around. Then again only the 1st or 2nd top of the draft pick QB will win in the NFL. I get it, thanks to all your posts about the QB and your hate of Colt that this is the only thing I say when people ask me about the draft. "We must draft a QB at all cost no matter what it costs cause no one in the NFL every wins until we have a top QB drafted high in the 1st round of the draft." Thanks for repeating yourself over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over............

Actually, I have never been "we must draft a QB by any means" person at all.
I want no part of Tannehill. I don't see a guy available later in the draft who will help us. I certainly and absolutely don't want one of the Colt McCoy clones available in the 7th round or as an UDFA.
I want a legitimate starting NFL QB. We really haven't had one for more than 1 single year since the days of Bernie Kosar and Vinnie Testaverde. (and that's giving a few guys the benefit of the doubt, like Jeff Garcia and Trent Dilfer)

Ok, I stand corrected but my point is this, do you feel that a QB worth anything can be found in the middle to late round of the 1st? I didn't like what would have been needed to get RG3. I do agree that this team has many holes and think if the Browns fill some holes that they could find a QB outside of the 1st or 2nd pick in the first round. Some good QB's come in the teens of the first round. I agree with you that Colt is not the answer but god I hope I, and you my friend, are wrong. Went to the Jags game last year with my cousin and after the game he looked at me and said about Colt that even with talent around him he would be nothing more than a game manager. I agree. I hope to fill holes and then go after a QB next year but then again the Redskins will not be after a QB and GMs with brains will be in control. Each draft is different so you don't feel the Browns will every have a chance at a good QB?

I was never a huge Bradford fan, but I figured if Holmgren was after him that hard, then there must be something there. He has played on an absolutely awful team, beset with injuries at damn near every position, and has been injured himself. When your frontline OL and WR are questionable, and then you lose your top 3 receivers and starting LT and RT to injury .... you're going to be in trouble as a QB. The Rams situation last year would be akin to us starting Carlton Mitchell and Jordan Norwood, with Rod Windsor and Owen Spenser battling it out for the 3rd spot ...... and with Joe Thomas and whoever the heck our RT is sitting on the bench.
In other words, no comparison at all to what we went though last year. In fact, what the Rams went through was probably not equaled by any team in the NFL last year.
As far as Gabbert, I don't believe that I ever said a word about his potential greatness. Not once.
Aaron Rodgers has been a great QB for almost his entire career. To compare one game to what we've seen here is laughable. If you look at his OL last year, he was hit/pressured almost as much as McCoy was. Somehow he managed to handle it just a little better though ........ Any further comparison between the 2 is beyond ridiculous. Further, who knows what his weapons would look like with McCoy at the helm.
Colt McCoy does so many things poorly that have nothing to do whatsoever with the players around him that it just amazes me that so many people defend him so passionately. He did OK when Mangini and Daboll gave him a very simple offense to run ... but as they put more on his shoulders, he did worse and worse. That should have been our 1st clue. However, for those who think that McCoy did so great as a rookie, then struggled last year because of his supporting cast, he had almost exactly the same supporting cast, except for adding Little and Norwood, and dropping Stuckey. That would seem to be a plus to me. However .... somehow people think that his supporting cast got worse last year. Well, they did ... because the QB was exposed, and teams figured out what he could, and more importantly, could not do well.
Let me ask you a question. If it was all WR ... and Robiske was awful ...... then why didn't McCoy and the team get better after Robiske was shipped out? Why didn't the team start scoring more with better players more involved in the passing game?

I want a legitimate starting NFL QB. We really haven't had one for more than 1 single year since the days of Bernie Kosar and Vinnie Testaverde. (and that's giving a few guys the benefit of the doubt, like Jeff Garcia and Trent Dilfer)
I think you are of the belief that just because a guy was selected in the first round that they are legit. Vinny Testaverde after two seasons had 21 starts. He had 18 TD passes and 41 interceptions completing a whopping 45 percent of his passes with something like a 54 QB rating.

I am not talking about Testaverde as a rookie, I am talking about him as a Cleveland Brown. (and his time with the team that was stolen by Baltimore) He wasn't a superstar here, he waited till he went to Baltimore to hit his stride. However, between his time in Cleveland and Baltimore, he threw 98 TD passes and 71 INT. (5 years) For the time period, that was very good. Obviously, we didn't have Testaverde as a rookie. How his rookie season is relevant to this discussion is beyond me. That was a completely different era.

As the pre-draft season drifts toward its end -- the actual draft -- we've entered the final stages of bluster and misinformation. But an interesting trend has developed over the past few days: teams are announcing to the world that they know exactly who they want (but won't be disclosing who that player is, for obvious reasons). San Francisco 49ers GM Trent Baalke made the bold move of so doing -- considering they're picking 30th -- in comments this week, and his cohort from the Cleveland Browns, Tom Heckert, joined in the fun on Thursday.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Heckert confirmed that the team knows who they'd like to take if they stay at No. 4 overall, but would not disclose who that was. Moreover, the GM said that they were confident they'd get one of the top two players on their internal draft board, though, again, he would not confirm who those players were.
In recent days, there has been scuttlebutt that the team could draft USC OT Matt Kalil if the Minnesota Vikings pass on him, and Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill is also believed to be in consideration. But the most momentum seems to be behind their selection of Alabama RB Trent Richardson. One week to go.
- Tim Kavanagh This from ESPN.
It's just a matter of time people, just a matter of time.
Blackmon...Claiborne...Tannehill...all on life support...
Need more ammunition? McShay was just on ESPN making his claim as to who he thinks we're going to take, and that person is Richardson.
Might as well get ready....."GO TRENT GO!"...

I hope you didn't say that with a straight face...How you can make excuses for Bradford and not accept that McCoy was a better player and dealt with as much is beyond me. Amazing that that simple offense that McCoy excelled in under Dabol was the same one Bradford struggled with in St. Louis. The fact is that you can't say that conditions were favorable for either QB but at least Bradford had a perennial Pro Bowl RB in Jackson. To say there is no Comparison is a cop out and if a great QB makes players around him better and Bradford was the #1 pick Brandon Gibson should have been a 1,000 yard Receiver.
Quote:
far as Gabbert, I don't believe that I ever said a word about his potential greatness. Not once.
Considered by more than a few Gurus as the best QB in the class. Didn't make anyone around him better and picked up our starting WR who couldn't even break their Lineup and was inactive. MoJO Drew was his RB.

I am not comparing them, I am comparing what it is like when you get pressured and and your receivers don't catch and do what they are supposed to do. Now try doing that with Receivers who couldn't get separation from me.

You can sit there and say this or that but more and more people than not see it quite the opposite of you. You know you are in a small minority right? The Coaches and Brass, Analyst, Gurus all acknowledge what most of us have said. You can say he did everything poorly or he didn't know the offense but that is overkill. He was in a bad situation just as the QB's I have stated and the results reflected that.

First you never answered my question. Did the Receivers make DA a Pro Bowl QB or did DA make Edwards and Winslow Pro Bowlers? As far as your question, They lost Hillis at the same time and started Obagnaya off the practice squad and as I stated we started getting production from a position that we got zilch from. Rome wasn't built in a day. By no means am I saying McCoy is the answer, but I honestly don't know as much as Bradford or Gabbert are known because the conditions just were not favorable for a young QB.

It's relevant..More times than not QB's don't just come in as a rookie or second year QB and light it up.

Hehehe....
We're nearing the end of smoke screen's. These games stop having any meaning inside of the last week of the draft if there isn't an obvious "gotta get that guy!" in sight. The sad part is the smoke screen's are used as much to trump up trade interest as they are to protect who a team is really going to take, and until you get past us, there just isn't going to be any need for a team to dance.
The closer we get, the less I believe any team is going to trade with the Vikings. Any team would have to believe we want the guy they want, and there just isn't that kind of buzz going on right now. I think the Vikes are stuck...."stuck"...with Kalil. Nice player to get "stuck" with.
So a team would then have to decide that they have to get in front of the Bucs to get their player, meaning a trade with us. But is there that one guy which the Bucs absolutely are desperate to have? They need a receiver, a RB, and a CB. They are content having any one of several guys fall to them.
To me, the team that stands a real chance of moving backwards is the Jags, as if some team falls into the trap of over-paying for the right to take Tannehill, the team to get in front of will be the Dolphins.
So the point? It's my opinion that if we REALLY wanna move out of the slot we can but the price probably won't be worth it. Otherwise, I feel as though all the teams leading up to the Jags are kinda locked into their spot.
All the analysts are starting to realize that the best fit for Cleveland is Richardson.
1) Assuming Luck and RG# are gone, there are two "can't miss" players left: Kalil and Richardson. With Kalil being locked in to the Vikes, that leaves several guys with legitimate questions and one guy without any in Richardson.
2) We have a starter in Little. We have a starter in Thomas. We have a starter in Haden. What starter do we have at RB? Jackson? A former split-carries, 3rd down back who missed all of last season due to injury? Oogy? A mid-season waiver-wire pickup who looks like a backup 3rd down back? Some other nobody on the roster? We have NOBODY at RB. Dare I suggest that as bad as McCoy is viewed, he's still better at his position than any of our RB's are at their's.
3) Star power. We all saw just how much Hillis meant to the city in terms of having a football hero again. Richardson has that power. Blackmon doesn't. Claiborne doesn't. Tannehill doesn't. Kalil doesn't. Richardson can put butt's in seats. He can sell jersey's. He has the look of a guy that can go to any team and become the face of the franchise. The rest? Not nearly so much.
Can't miss guy that fills a desperate need and sells tickets...That guy is Richardson, and the country is starting to get it now...

Who needs a RB?
Tampa Bay? No St. Louis? No Jacksonville? No Miami? No
Should you take a RB high with the rules totally slanted to the passing game? No
Listen...we have the opportunity to take the most valuable position on the field, lock him up on the cheap for 5 years, and give us a fighting chance in the AFC North.
No other QB in the draft available to us knows the WCO and represents an upgrade over McCoy. In Tannehill's case it's a big upgrade.
I simply cannot believe that we're going to draft a RB at 4 who might fall to 17 if not for us.

One more thing... We draft Tannehill and we have the second best QB in the division. Once Roethlisberger finally breaks down he'll be number 1. I like our odds for the future if we have the best QB in the division.

I'm pretty sure we do.
I'd love nothing more than to drop down 2 slots and get Richardson, but I don't think there's a player sitting there that will make a team absolutely have to come get him. I think we're stuck unless we're willing to take a small deal.
If we didn't have such a desperate need it wouldn't make nearly as much sense.

Ahhh...even you're starting to believe it You didn't say "I cannot believe that we would draft a RB at 4"... you said you "cannot believe that we are going to draft a RB at 4"
I think Richardson has the same chance to fall to 17 as Tannehill has of falling to the 2nd round...

I worry more about someone jumping to the Vikings slot for TR more than I do for Tannehill. Then who do we take ? I want offense but not sure I want Blackmon at 4. I'd guess we go CB, RB, WR

Face it. I am going to be coming to Texas on your dime all because we draft a hated Aggie. And then I'm going to be gracious and accept strokes and then take your money. All the while boozing and enjoying a cigar while cavorting with my Adrianna Lima look-a-like. Thursday is going to make me smile.

I think Tampa will draft Richardson if he is there sorry to say. No to Tannehill at 4 also. Trade down and take Tannehill or Richardson would be great. Not sure Richardson drops to far though.......

Maybe that's it man...I couldn't stomach the fact we took some hillbilly from Texas in McCoy, so it's beyond comprehension that we'd waste more time and the #4 pick in the entire draft on another Texas HeeHaw, except this one from freakin' Texas A&M.
You got me.

Richardson has all of the upside for the Browns, as the productivity of Jamal Lewis while on the Browns. It is a possibility, I'm looking forward to it? We'll get an 800 yd runningback with 6 Td's and alot of rumbling pile moving. But OH we'll have somebody to "root" for in another 10 loss season. Sigh! He's a possibility. The Browns have as much right to screw things up and take the wrong guy as any other team. If they Do take Richardson, the rest of the draft they are playing catch up. If they do take Richardson, they probably won't take James, and if they don't take James, they won't go the Super Bowl This year.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Why is it that heckert says he's happy about any one guy of four but the whack-a-doos on here wanna go all draft-pick Highlander?
My choice would be Blackmon. I'd be happy to welcome Claiborne or Richardson to the team as well. Every seems to read his comments their own way, but it sounds to me that tannehill is not a part of the equation.
He keeps saying four guys... but who is the fourth? The ones i named above are obviously three of them based on his comments. Is it tannehill? Is it Kalil who they just flew out to see? Someone else? Kirkpatrick? Floyd?
My prediction will remain that the browns will try and target both Blackmon and Richardson, with Seattle and Philly being the possible partners to trade up to.

By the way, the jags ain't moving. If tannehill is still available when they are up, it means Blackmon isn't, which means they have to take Floyd. If they get behind Miami and Miami can't take tannehill, then they will take floyd, meaning the jags will have to piece together a receiving corps starting with pick 40 or whatever. I don't see them risking that.

Sorry, but have to call the BS on that...crap is crap...you wanna discuss how bad it stinks and go all rhetorical? Feel free...fact is that there are (relatively) better RBs in FA right now than Colt in Addai, Benson and Grant...also, OT, CB and WR are 2 and 2.5 starting positions, RB is a 1.5....the value simply isn't comparable. If you draft BPA every season you'd have hall of fame RBs, Gs, Cs, TEs and FBs on your roster but still have a 4 to 8 win team...what did the Vikings win with AP, Birk and Hutchinson on their roster again? If we select TR we will be in Vikings, OAK and SEA land..."stuck" in mediocrity
You have an argument with your star power...but that's about it, a PR homer argument...how goes the saying? If you listen to the masses/homers, you'll be sitting next to them soon
