Well, this is my last day of work after 26 years of service. Building closing and
I take care of the building...who'da thunk it.

Sad it's ending but I choose to be excited about new opportunities!!!

Good luck.

Man I sure hope that the economy gets turned around soon. I am tired of seeing people put out of work left and right.

Thanks all !

Actually, It's been about 8 years wondering when this was going to occur!
I started getting my financial house in order then. These extra years were bonus
as far as I'm concerned! I've got only about $700 a month outgoing and am thankful I was brought up well in that area!

I get a decent deal of severance and need not rush to another job. I've handyman type jobs lined up throughout my neighborhood and have been contacted to help a guy refurbish houses he's trying to flip.

I'll be fine if I stay wise (tough one) and
and work hard. I'd like to try something different and something I love. (still wondering what that is) I've got 10-15 years to work yet and I want to enjoy getting
up and going!

Heck, if you were closer I might look you up to do some work at my mom's house.

Ha, jumping to conclusions are we? LOL

It's like that national gypsum factory in Lorain/Elyria. in 2008 Obama stood in front of it talking about jobs and at that time, the factory was already slated to shutdown.. Then Romney comes along ( or was it Santorum) and uses that plant closing as an example of the Obama adminstration failed employment policies....LOL

Just proves, you can't believe a politician.. and I don't give a damn what party he's tied too.......

oldmutt...it sounds like you have planned for this day, knowing it has been coming for some time.

Still, after doing the same job for 26 years, it can be an adjustment. I hope you can find the type of work you are looking for...even if you are not sure exactly what that might be at this time.

Good luck, be safe...

I don't like either party. That's why I registered to vote without joining any political party. I have no party affiliation, just as George Washington had warned us to avoid.

Sorry to hear that Mutt.

I am a believer that things work out as they should.....you seem like a good egg, so things will work out well. I honestly believe that.

You're a smart guy, you'll be fine. Good luck finding something that makes you happy. I'm a late 50's guy that has been expecting the pink slip for about 3 years now. I just keep working hard and figure I'll make do when it happens.

I have been out of work before. I suggest you call everyone you can think of. Then make a list of new people to call. keep calling until you find work. Good luck. you have the right attitude
