We need a wideout pretty badly...where do we do?

Stephen Hill looks as though he'll be gone
Rueben Randle...slower, but more college production
Mohamed Sanu
Coby Fleener...i know he's a TE but hes a great pass catcher
Nick Toon
Jarius Wright
Marvin McNutt
Dwight Jones (later of course)

I like Hill the best but all signs point to STL going that direction...unless they decide Cordy Glenn is better and would rather a guy like Sanu or Randle a few picks down the road.

I kinda say get Bobby Massie if Hill is gone...or go get Hill then take Schwartz, then grab someone else later...i just dont know who.

Thoughts? We need a WR by the end of today...who?

I've read that the Rams are staying at 33 and will pick Randle.

See, I was hearing the Rams were eyeing Randle but they'll probably go Hill.

I would probably go OL at 37 with Martin or Glenn and trade up from 67 for Jeffery, if he is gone I take Greg Childs or possibly go Ladarius GReen for TE and pickup a Dwight Jones or Jordan White later.

I'd rather have Randle anyway. And if they are both gone we take a tackle. Or we take a linebacker. Or a pass rusher. Or a corner. Or a safety.

Can he play with his hand in the ground for three downs? I don't know if he can. I think we can find a nickel pass rusher later in the draft (Tim Fugger?)

+1 on this. Would add Streeter and McNutt to the later queue as well.

If we go RT round 2, how about Juron Criner in round 3?

Hill is intriguing now that we have a Qb that has the arm to let us stretch the field. If we go RT round 2 there are a lot of good wr's remaining. All 3 of the guys out of Arkansas Childs, Adams, Wright), Criner, Jones, Broyles are guys I like.

Jeffries, Givens, Sanu, Randle, Quick are also out there.

That totals 11 Wr's just off the top of my head. Unless we really like one of these guys way better than the others then I say get the RT. I don't see double digit Wr's going in round 2 but I can see Martin, Massie and Glenn all going. I don't like the dropoff at RT after them. Adams? The guy from Illinois? Schwartz? Just not sold on that 2nd group of RT's.

Yeah, I'm sold on RT with our first pick. Someone who can come in and immediately start. I think that's where we'll go. Heckert can't be foolish enough to really think Cousins can start.

I'd love Glenn, Martin, or Massie. If all three are gone, pray for Randle.

Although, Randle is my top guy of the WR's left. I like Jeffery, but Randle is tall and fast. He can stretch the field opposite Greg Little with Norwood in the slot. He'd be a great target for Weeden.

What we really need is someone like Braylon Edwards, but not named Braylon Edwards (and who doesn't beat up Lebron's friend or think of himself as god when he drops the ball too much. He's got too big of an ego). Of course, Braylon is probably more athletic than any player in this draft, period.

That the Jets haven't signed him yet really shows me that he was a bigger pain in the butt than we ever realized

Wouldn't it be great if the Rams drafted Brian Quick, someone who none of us are even considering?

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Rams' top targets at the start of the second round "appear to be" LSU WR Rueben Randle, Appalachian State WR Brian Quick, and Wake Forest WR Chris Givens.
All three were pre-draft visitors at Rams Park, so the club has done its homework on each one. Givens seems the likeliest to still be available the latest, and is probably the least probable option at the No. 33 overall pick. The Post-Dispatch expects the Rams to "almost certainly" draft a receiver at 33.

FWIW ...

Since we got a shiney new QB, I don't see how we take anything BUT a WR.

Well, we'll find out in about 10 mins.

They needed a RT.

I personally would have taken Sanu at 67 but apparently Heckert didn't think so.

I'm with YTown. 3 for 4 ain't bad. But they definitely need some WR. They don't even need a #1, just a #2 who can stretch the field.

Marvin McNutt.

Big, knows how to get open, runs good routes, has good hands, maybe not short range quickest guy, but really fast, (IIRC, he ran something like a 4.3 40) has great body control. he needs some coaching on how best to use his size against corners, but I think that he will be a really good receiver.

My fear is that he will wind up with the Steelers and become their next mid round great receiver.

The ONLY explaination is that H & H think we are okay at WR.

Anyone have a better explaination?

There are alot of FAs WRs left, not to mention we still have 7 picks left. Calm down guys....

Not at all. I concur wholeheartedly and my interpretation of our WR's is just way off base.

Because we addressed three other major offensive needs? Or were you expecting us to draft a world beater WR in the 3rd round? Since 1999, we've drafted 7 WRs in the second round ... 3 of which are still on the team. It's not like a 3rd rounder is going to be an instant #1 for us. Heck ... with proper right-side line protection to go with the left ... a Quarterback with an NFL quality arm ... and a runningback that will keep defenses honest ... maybe those three second rounders will start actually looking like second round picks.

I have a possible explanation:

They think McCoy was awful and think they can turn our guys into gold, or find guys later in the draft to turn into gold.

I don't think it's right, but what the hell, may as well try.

At this point, it seems like a decent idea.

That's not a comment on how good I think Braylon is, it's a comment on how incompetent I think our front office is.

We're in such a bad position at WR that I think brining back Braylon is a halfway decent idea. If you don't laugh, this stuff will kill you.
