JC. We just took a tiny dude. Don't know much about him, but he's 5'10 and 172 lbs. Maybe we did draft the waterboy someone suggested above...kidding... Hes nowhere near the prototypical WCO WR. Super fast at 4.36 40 OVERVIEW Benjamin was a big-play threat at Miami for several years. Initially an electric return specialist, he eventually became an effective pass-catching option. He is undersized but fast enough to get past safeties, and has the route-running savvy to outwork corners, create separation and make plays. His size might limit his pro potential, but many receivers of his stature have succeeded in the NFL. Benjamin has third- to fourth-round value. ANALYSIS STRENGTHS Benjamin understands how to get open at the top of routes and can use his explosiveness to his advantage. As a returner, he is a "one cut and go" runner who can break for daylight. The key to his game as a receiver is his ability to get open, and he doesn't shy away from contact. He will be a true deep threat who runs crisp intermediate routes. WEAKNESSES Because his size puts him at a disadvantage, Benjamin's game is based entirely on speed and quickness. He has a hard time getting off the line of scrimmage if not given a free release, lacking the strength to recover if jammed by a more physical defender. Benjamin has also historically struggled to work in traffic. It's a WR but again, they're taking a guy who grades out well below where he's taken.
I like Benjamin but Heckert seems to completely disregard value in every way, shape and form. Kind of hard to get used to.
In this case, I understand it. He's a burner (4.36 at combine)....so at this point, I suppose you roll the dice. Hopefully he can stay healthy though. Been dinged a lot in college.
Doesn't strike me as a WCO guy given his size. Returner?

Scouts Inc. graded him out at #174. We took him with pick #100. That's what I was referencing.
Ratings obviously vary and his measurables (4.36) probably make it worth it. Just stating it's odd that, save Richardson, Heckert has been taking guys much earlier than they're slotted. It's just hard to get used to.
It's semantics if they pan out. Just pointing out it's a theme here. Take that FWIW.
I don't dislike the pick, I'm actually indifferent. It's just interesting.

Benjamin isn't a bad pick, he's just gotta avoid hits.
A guy who's 170 LBS could get eaten alive running some of the WCO routes.
He's one guy Weeden just can't leave out to dry. Might get broken in half. 
I do like his return skills though. If he turns in to a reliable WR, that would seem to be a plus.

I didn't...lol. At worst we got a difference maker in the punt return game ( and we needed that), and at best we got a returner a solid slot option.
Guys your getting role players here you hope develops your not getting starting WRs. Travis will have an immediate impact next year on STs and hopefully he develops into more as the season progresses

I understand the sarcastic negativity comments but this isn't just people on the board.
"Draft Experts" are scratching their heads on some of the Browns picks as well.
Are they current GM's? Well no but these guys are connected / plugged in. They talk to other GM's, they talk to scouts, they are pretty consistent in their evaluations, in terms of identifying tiers of players.
Can they properly identify everyone? Well no but I think the criticism of some of these picks is warranted.
We'll ultimately see who's right but when you take a player like Hughes, who is widely viewed as a guy who's a fringe player, in the top 90 picks....you better be right. It is that simple. If you waste a 3rd round selection on a practice squad body, then you have to answer to that. 3rd round picks, on bad teams, have to be starters more times than not. If they aren't, you're never going to get anywhere.
I hear ya....however...If the draft experts were trult experts, they'd be NFL GMs. To me, they're GM-wannabe's. And who cares what other GMs think about our picks. They want all other picks to look stupid compared to theirs. And realize, there are bad GMs in the current NFL too. So if they don't like our picks, good.
I like the Richardson pick, but didn't like the trade. I would have called Minnesota bluff and traded Kalil or taken Claiborne. We didn't give up much, so not really a big deal. And if T.Rich ends up being as good as he can be....nobody will care about the three extra picks (I already don't care about the 5th and 7th) or where we took him.
I though we should have waited to take Weeden or stay with McCoy but I respect them for making a statement ("McCoy isn't our future and we're taking his replacement here at 22 so nobody else moves up to nab him before #37). And like so many on here, I was tired of McCoy....so we move on. I've heard just as many great comments about Weeden as bad.....most of the bad complaints were of his age. If we can get 7-8 years from him, so what. We normally get 1-2 from everyone else.
The tackle in the 2nd. Pffttt, nothing bad to say here. Good pick.
The DT in the 3rd. Well, a lot of people poo-poo'd Taylor and Sheard last year and those two turned out to be gems. So I'm going to trust Heckart before I bash him on D-line prospects. We needed depth, maybe we have him.
Travis Benjamin....good, we needed a speedy WR to stretch the field. We still need another WR in case TB doesn't work.
Outside of the bluff trade up and maybe reaching for Weeden, I've been happy with everything. We all bitched and moaned about fixing the offense for 2012. So far we got a RB, WB, RT and WR. Come on...isn't that what we wanted?

They probably took Cousins hoping that he will light it up in pre-season, and someone desperate for a QB will offer them a better pick to acquire him.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm not completely disgusted or anything.
We'll see how these guys pan out but the Hughes pick was just really weird.
Maybe he ends up being a better pro than a college player, it was just really going out on a limb for a pick that high (top 90).
Ultimately this entire draft probably centers around Weeden, so maybe I'm dwelling on a selection that ultimately doesn't really matter. I just hate to "burn" a pick that valuable if the FO misses on Hughes.
I think Richardson, if healthy, is a no brainer pro. He has everything you look for in a 3 down back. If Weeden is an above average QB, then everything else is gravy. If not, I would expect us to be picking in the top 5 again. Richardson will help carry the load on offense but Weeden has to be able to take pressure off the LOS for him.

He'd be my third choice of the 3 mentioned.
To be honest, I'd take Alfonzo Dennard here - I know he has legal issues stemming from a fight, but from what I've read - he's not had issues before. He was talked as late 1st/early 2nd talent just a couple weeks ago.
A good attorney could get him into camp, and we'd have instant upgrade - though with risk. Worth it at 120 IMHO

I almost think that we could get the maximum value by double dipping at RB.
I think that there are a couple of really interesting guys still left, and we could be set at RB for years to come.
