http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profiles/travis-benjamin?id=2532790OVERVIEW Benjamin was a big-play threat at Miami for several years. Initially an electric return specialist, he eventually became an effective pass-catching option. He is undersized but fast enough to get past safeties, and has the route-running savvy to outwork corners, create separation and make plays. His size might limit his pro potential, but many receivers of his stature have succeeded in the NFL. Benjamin has third- to fourth-round value. ANALYSIS STRENGTHS Benjamin understands how to get open at the top of routes and can use his explosiveness to his advantage. As a returner, he is a "one cut and go" runner who can break for daylight. The key to his game as a receiver is his ability to get open, and he doesn't shy away from contact. He will be a true deep threat who runs crisp intermediate routes. WEAKNESSES Because his size puts him at a disadvantage, Benjamin's game is based entirely on speed and quickness. He has a hard time getting off the line of scrimmage if not given a free release, lacking the strength to recover if jammed by a more physical defender. Benjamin has also historically struggled to work in traffic. He prefers to be outside on the perimeter, away from contact; this could be his Achilles heel if he were to try to move into the slot.

Very good pick. He's our punt returner day 1, and gives us a true slot guy potentially....both glaring weaknesses last year.

Well ... not my choice ..... but seems like he is as good an option as most available now.
I really don't know a whole lot about him at all.

I Don't like the height but then again look at Wes Welker and others, So it just might pan out.. If you can take another WR at 120 I would be happy too Good Pick though

He's fast and not afraid of contact. 2 very important things in a WR.

And it gets even worse! Another poor pick! Sure, he's a WR, but there are better players at the position taken that are left on the board. This is why the Browns suck!

In the strengths it says he doesn't shy away from contact.

Watching the video I liked that I saw him go up and get the ball. Catching with his hands, arms extended. Plucking the ball at a point higher than his natural height. MoMas has none of this. Maybe the rook can teach some of those skills. Other wise MM will be looking for work.

I am liking this as well. We need someone who can blow the top off of the defense and he gives us that dimension. Better this type of player than a slower possession guy who would give defenses all the more reason to play up and stack the box.
With a rocket arm that Weeden has over McCoy this opens things up and maybe spells the end of Cribbs as a returner . . .

This guy reminds me a lot of Santana Moss ... hopefully he can put up that kind of production. Needs to put on a bit of weight and muscle though ... hope that doesn't kill the speed.

Sounds like it's not claimed. It was his official combine time.
Certainly has speed. The Browns just need to find creative ways to get him a free release off the LOS.

Yeah, I noticed that. It actually cut to a silent feed of some potential pick's living room for a few minutes, and then cut the the desktop.

That's weird. CBS Sports is up ... and they run the mechanicals of NFL.com.
The latest pick shown is R+Turbin to the Seahags.

This
Who?
Can I please go back in time 30 minutes ? Can they please take a Football player, not Josh Cribbs' baby brother.
WR? yes! WR who should be a reservere in the CFL? No.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Which is it? I wonder how his hands are? I hope they are great. This is the type of receiver I saw us picking up.

I have read that he has good hands, and catches naturally, away from his body. (for what it's worth) Plus he is fast, fast, fast, (and really small)

Here is scout's inc. evaluation of the pick:
Travis Benjamin #100:
What he brings: Benjamin is an undersized explosive slot receiver who will never start on the outside, but can also contribute in the return game. He's at his best with the ball in his hands in space.
How he fits: He's a little bit of a curious pick because he's like the guys they already have and they're still looking for that dynamic edge guy who can stretch the field. Benjamin could be effective out of the slot, but they have those guys and he could help in the return game, but they already have Joshua Cribbs. He can add some explosiveness to a passing game that had none in 2011.

Everything I a,m reading on the guy says probably FA.
This draft is going to either make the Browns FO look really good...or really bad....They are drafting from their own board...which seems completely different than what anyone else is thinking.

Come on now, don't start using his positives to sway the Negative Nancy's on the board. There were better people available and that's why we suck.
We needed a WR and this kids looks good. I'd rather have a small guy that catches well with blazing than a 6' 4" slow WR that can't catch. (did I mention I want Eric Page too?)

I think there is room on our roster for speed and he could add an element that's lacking, but he wont be a focal point. that will be the guys like Little and Cribbs in the short passing game doing the dirty work.
